The college I aspire to attend is California State University of San Bernardino in Palm Desert. This university has the requirements I need to become a high school Spanish teacher. In order to accomplish my goal, I strive in obtaining my Bachelors degree in Spanish. I will also need to major in Spanish language, literature, and its culture, as well as education topics such as teaching methods for foreign language and educational psychology. The reason I would like to become a Spanish teacher is that I believe teachers are one of the few people that actually prepare us for the real world, after our parents, of course, and I would like to have the same effect on the future generations. In addition, the subject I wish to teach would be Spanish, as being bilingual in life can give students the upper hand as many careers take …show more content…
After I graduate from this school, I will need to take internships in student teaching to prepare myself for my future career. When I do become a Spanish teacher, the first school I am willing to work on will be here, in Desert Hot Springs. The motive I yearn to attend college is to make my mother proud, and make her see that all the struggles she made for my education were not in vain. She always tells me the struggles she had when she was young as she had to pay for school, travel a long distance to get there, and how I should take advantage I have now since it is almost a privilege to have an education. Not only does she support me with advice, she also challenges me to strive for better things. One example of this would be when I help my aunt’s husband in certain areas of construction, and later asking me if it is easier to hold a brick or pencil. She is motivating me by saying that an education can assist me in gaining a better and easier career. I want to go to a university in order to fulfill my goals and
There are multiple reasons why someone may want to go to college. Whether it’s to pursue their dreams or prove people wrong. I want to go to college because I want to pursue my dream of majoring in mathematics, math is a passion of mine. I can not say fully what I want to do with my life or when I will find out, but I do know that math is something I want to continue studying. Being Hispanic does not give me a good advantage when it comes to colleges, I have to make sure my voice is heard. What is even more complicated is being a first generation college student, my family really can not help because my parents did not go to college. I have to set the example for my younger brother because he is also going to be a first generation college student
I have always wanted to go to college. I am hoping to attend Wayne State College for a degree in Art Education. I have been anticipating a fresh start from my high school career for a while now. I have been attending Verdigre Public school for all my life, and would appreciate a change of pace. I am also eager to learn new skills in my desired field; Art Education. I began to enjoy art during my sophomore year and it is still my favorite class. I love art for many reasons. One of which is the ability to create a work of art with just an idea in my head. I also love to use colors to express my feelings toward the artwork and how I am feeling that day. I would really like to help others see the wonders of art and help them create their own wonders. Becoming an Art teacher will enhance my ability to help students excel in art. This could include various mediums of art including clay, painting, or drawing. I am also eager to explore certain artistic histories. I will also gain a greater appreciation for art.
College comes at you quicker than you could imagine. And with being a junior in high school, college is all you think of. Sometimes the more you think about what you want to do the more stressful it can get. But you have to keep an idea of what career you'll want to pursue. East Tennessee State, Coastal Carolina, and the University of South Carolina offer many programs that would lead you to want to attend their university.
I would like to attend college because I thoroughly enjoy learning. I take great pride in my education; as a women in the twenty-first century, I am going to take advantage of the opportunities I have and educate myself as much as possible. Obtaining a college degree is also essential to thrive in the industry I would like to be involved in after college, the fashion business industry. I selected my major, business administration because I have curated and ran an online store since I was thirteen. I enjoyed the experience so much that I made the decision to pursue it as a career and not just a hobby.
The first reason is because I just really want to make my parents proud. I am going to be the first person in my family to attend college in the United States. This is a honor I praise highly. I don't want to disappoint my parents by not attending college because they have sacrificed a lot for me. When we first moved to the United States life was rough. My dad couldn't find a stable job and my mom struggled to adapt to life in South Carolina. As hard as it was though, my parents did their best to give the best education and childhood possible. We eventually prevailed and settle down well in South Carolina. My parents support keep me going all the way through high
I would like to attend college because I want to be successful in life, I understand it is getting harder to get a job with only a high school diploma and it is sure to get worse. My goals for the future include getting into a college with a good teaching and mathematics program, this could give me a variety of jobs and I was speaking to someone and they told me that people are looking out for women who have a degree in mathematics which will help me to obtain a good paying job.
Without that advantage, attending my dream college will surely leave me swimming in debt. While I am aware that there are other students who possess equal intellectual ability, I can guarantee that there are very few who are as hardworking and dedicated as I am. Once my mind is fixated on something, there is little that can stand in my way. Since a young age, I have greatly enjoyed helping others. I have participated in many service projects such as Kids Against Hunger, clothing and item drives through my youth group, ringing bells for the Salvation Army, and many more. Because I am passionate about helping others, my goal is to finish college and then spend a few months volunteering in poor Spanish speaking countries as an English teacher to the children there. I will then return to the United States and find work in the international business field where I can launch my professional career as an interpreter. In order to do this, it is imperative that I have the opportunity to complete my college degree. While being an interpreter is not something that I have fantasized about since a young age, I am proud to have found a career path that will bring me both feelings of success and allow me to continue using the language that I have fallen in love with. I only hope that with the assistance of this scholarship, I will have the opportunity to achieve my
Growing up, I heard the same questions. What do I want to be when I grow up? Am I going to attend college? If so which one? What am I going to study when I get there? Throughout my childhood, I was always taught if I wanted a good job with a high paying salary I would obtain it through higher education. As I grew up I understood that my college education was not about the money, but the core curriculum in the education.
Living in America I am given many opportunities to pursue my education such as being surrounded by fantastic colleges and being the first person in my family to graduate high school and attend college.I am determined to have a great profession and make my parents proud. An important short-term goal is attending Mercer University for both undergraduate and graduate school with the most financial aid as possible My parents emigrated from India and came here with nothing. They have suffered through many hardships financially and personally to provide for my sister and I. Due to my dad’s health issues he is forced to retire and stay home. Our expenses solely rely on my mother’s income and the income I receive from my part time job. Since my family’s funds are limited, applying for financial aid is critical in order for me to attend college.
“What college are you going to attend in the Fall?” “What will your major be?” What do you want to be when you grow up?” These three questions have come up in some shape or form as I was going through the college process my Junior and Senior years of high school. My answers were: “Whatever school gives me the most money. Biology. Pediatrician.” But can I answer all of these questions definitively now? Maybe. Maybe not. All I know is that, I can definitively say: “I attend Macaulay Honors College and Queens College.”
Some may have said you do not have to attend college in order to be successful. That may be true but that is a one out of five chance. The three reasons way I choose to attend college. The first is for football, I have always had big dreams of playing football on the college level. I kind of always wanted to be the superstar like in the movies, running out when they call my name and having my friends, family, and fans go crazy as they see me coming out the tunnel with music and smoke or fog. The second reason is for my family. Seeing the smiles on their faces as I tell them I wanted to go to college was a priceless moment of my life. The last reason is for my degree. One thing I will always remember is my grandmother telling me “ManMan as she would call me, baby listening to me I want you to get your degree ok cause no one can ever take that away from you. Take your education seriously baby”. So I made that my main focus in my life to make her proud of what her grandson is becoming and will have a college degree one day.
As a first generation student, academic promise hasn’t always been a focus of mine until my high school years. Coming from a family where the only post-high school education is whatever training you receive at work, it is hard to relate when the possibility of university is so far away. Four years after high school, I have not only worked full time but also received my associates degree from my hometown community college. That is all great thanks to the family that have raised me, and taught me that hard work is the only work capable of doing. My parents never had the opportunity to attend college, so they taught me what they knew in life instead; where manners are always required, hard work is mandatory, and when finished with that work; you
I was raised by my father until I was 13 years old, he was a school bus driver and always struggled to provide for us. At 13 I went into fostercare where I fell pregnant and droped out of highschool at the age of 16. I raised my daugher on my own, I decided to go back to school to work twards my grade 12 so I could apply for college. After reciving the needed credits to apply for college. Being the first person in my family to attend college, I had to figure everything out on mu own and Being a single parent and no finacial or moral support from any family, I struggled to even come up with the $90 to apply for the "Ontario Colleges". I did my reaserch and found that due to bein a crown ward I was eligible for certian things that helped me finally
After I graduate high school, I plan to attend college. My number one pick for College is UC Davis, my second in thought is UCR, and my third option but not last is CSU San Bernardino. I hope to become an Architectural Engineer if not any then and Auto Mechanic Engineer and minor in music performance. As this year passes by and I find out what College I am accepted to, I plan to spend my last summer with my family. In August I will start my general education classes and then I will start working on my major in Architectural Engineering and my minor in Music Performance.
Rachel Valdez Time has gone by so fast since the time I graduated high school. Four years ago last month I was walking the stage in my yellow gown. It was a proud moment for my family; being the second to graduate high school, and the first to graduate in the top ten percent with plans to attend college in the fall. I was also very proud of myself, relieved that all the testing and college applications were over. Although I must admit I was not sure at all what I wanted to pursue a career in. What would I major in? What do I really want to? From the time I discovered a relationship with God (about my sophomore year in high school) I wanted to know, what was I made for? I always asked, hoping I would find what I was made for soon! Especially during the frustration of
