I'm often asked why I chose filmmaking as a career. Every time that question surprises me. How could I not? My love of film defines who I am and how I interact with the world. Films are my gateway. They let me see things I otherwise could not, in both the world and myself. And filmmaking is my way of letting people see me. By participating in Chapman University's MFA in Film Production with an emphasis in Directing, I desire to take my craft to a new level. I know at Chapman, I will not only better my craft at a technical level, but I will also improve my storytelling abilities. I will take full advantage of both. During my time at Chapman, I hope to gain personal and professional relationships by not only actively participating in this program, …show more content…
That was receiving my undergraduate degree in film. My next step is to pursue this MFA at Chapman. While studying at Chapman, I will pour myself and my abilities into my classes. Even outside the classroom, I will be intentional about furthering my relationships with my classmates and professors. During the summers, I will work and take internships that will give me more practical, real world experience where I can continue to apply the skills Chapman has given me. I believe that being a student at Chapman, and eventually an alumni, is the perfect entry point into the industry. I realized early on that there is something to be learned in every job, and that in this industry, you have to work your way up. With my degree and the relationships I made while at Chapman, I am confident I will be able to find work. With the knowledge I gain at Chapman, I will be able to distinguish myself and work my way up. Throughout the rest of my career, I will work to better myself and hone my craft. I am ecstatic to be submitting my application to Chapman University's MFA program. I hope you will give me the chance to prove to you that I will give your program my all and help continue to make a great name for Chapman University. Thank
Similar to many young people, I dreamed of leaving town and creating a big name for myself. After venturing through undergraduate and graduate school, I gained my first real job at
NYU Tisch offers me both the rich history of matriculating successful alumni such as the likes of Vince Gilligan, Joel Coen, and Martin Scorsese, as well as a group of talented screenwriting students who stimulate an aspect of countless possibilities. For example, during a visit to NYU, I met first-year student AJ Johnson who majors in Dramatic Writing. His academics and
I feel I would continue to be a tremendous asset to the college and art department because of my commitment to excellence, high degree of personal energy, and devotion to higher education. It is therefore my hope that you carefully examine my materials and act favorably on my application.
Since I struggled in school and cannot play many sports due to my Rheumatoid Arthritis, I found art to be the perfect outlet for me. I chose to pick a major from the CSULB College of the Arts because I knew I wanted to get a degree where I would be able to create art and explore other artistic talents. I decided to major in film because I find films magical, every time I watch a movie, music video or short film I escape reality and enter a fantasy. Films inspire me to write new lyrics, new scripts, and to make a change. Growing up I wanted to be an actress in films and film has given me the opportunity to act in films and work behind the camera. I have enjoyed every film class especially FEA 299 Media Aesthetics. I did not have much knowledge
As a middle school Humanities student, I was offered a Media Production course. It has become one of my favorite classes because it allows me to use film-making as a creative outlet. In this class, I am hard-working, creative, and curious.
It all started when I was in elementary school Amy and I would write, direct, act, and edit home videos. To us it was entertaining, not realizing that later on in life I would return to this creative endeavor to save my life. Once we entered middle school creating movies was considered "uncool", so we stopped making them. However, I didn't stop it was just the beginning.
I have a passion for theatre and storytelling. I’ve acted in twelve productions, covering a variety of topics. Part of the reason I love theatre so much is how much it’s expanded my perspective. Last year I was in a production
I have been in film acting classes for many years now, but I have always been interested in what goes on behind the scenes. For this reason, I was overjoyed when I could finally join my acting studio's Teen Producers program. After joining the program when I was eleven, I quickly fell in love with filmmaking.
My entire life I have been fascinated with film and commercials. As a kid, I would stop what I was doing to watch a commercial. This has not changed through the years. My goal in life is to work in the film industry and work with video. This may have developed from my brother’s short term love for the video arts. Like most little brothers I followed in his footsteps through a lot of things and most of them would not stick. As I grew older I developed my own different ideals and likes. But, video just stuck with me. Even if film production doesn’t work out I have always had a childlike excitement for fighting fires. Being the person to save the day is something that everybody wants to do, but not everyone peruses this dangerous career.
My workshopping and revising skills I developed while participating in workshops at BYU will help me succeed in writing for the Disney Parks. Through writing plays and giving dramaturgical insights, I’ve recognize the value of collaboration to make scripts and ideas production ready. Even working on a congressional campaign, I applied dramaturgical research and objectivity skills as I wrote and revised press releases. Also, the professionalism of meeting deadlines and producing new material is a weekly task as a writer for a sketch comedy group, Divine Comedy, and will be important to continue to practice as I move to creating script as a show writer. Finally, Creative problem solving is vital as Disney strives to be on the cutting edge of storytelling. Living with Cerebral Palsy forces me to be creative as I encounter problems, and thinking different is a valuable asset I’ll provide by being apart of Disney Live Entertainment.
There are three reasons that I am interested in the USC School of Cinematic Arts (SCA) Graduate Program. Firstly, the Film & Television Production MFA program at USC is one of the greatest graduation program providing its graduates with the best equipment, best professors, and best networking opportunities. Studying at SCA, students could work with faculty who are famous actors, producers, directors, media makers, and scholars whose careers and work have awarded the highest honors of their field: Oscars, Emmys, Golden Globes, NAACP Leadership Awards, etc. Moreover, there are many attractive courses in the program. Students at SCA can take a wide range of courses in this program. They have the opportunity to write, direct, produce, and edit
Those within the program experience the opportunity for the study of film and video production, incorporating writing, and production (directing, cinematography,
I sincerely appreciate the committee’s time in evaluating my application. I look forward to hearing from you
The first reason, is because I have always loved photography. The next reason was to provide a safety income for my family. “When the physiological needs are reasonable satisfied, needs at the next higher level begin to dominate man’s behavior – to motivate him.” Roethlisberger, 2011)
Now it begins, the next chapter, this amazing moment where I start a new part of my life. The next steps I take might be at the door of your institution. To introduce myself, I am Matthew Kopsachilis from Long Island, a man who has one dream, to make movies. Today, you will understand why I am a perfect candidate to be a Film Production Major at your school.
