Hello, my is Inez Edmondson I live in West Chester Ohio. I have been a nurse for many years. I am now a Visiting Assistant Professor Department of Nursing at one of the locate University. I chose to return to school once I accepted the position as a VAP. I want to be all I could be as an instructor, I feel that this program will give leverage and accreditation as an instructor. I have very little research experience in my graduate program. I hope to gain a better understanding of health care policies, and how do you make things happy.
According to Navarro et al (2007) In the decades since chronic illnesses replaced infectious diseases as the leading causes of death, public health researchers, particularly those in the field of health promotion
For as long as I can remember, I have always dreamed of becoming a nurse. I knew that I wanted to be a nurse I was just not sure of what kind of nurse, but as I got older I grew to love babies and kids more and more. It then hit me, that I wanted to be a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Nurse (NICU). Being born prematurely, and knowing by hearing stories and reading about the NICU has shaped me even more to want to be a NICU nurse. I know that with being a NICU nurse involves a lot of time and dedication, but that does not matter. I am always asked " How are you going to be able to handle being a NICU nurse", which leads to the response of "I know that it will be hard, but someone has got to do it". I have always been told that it takes someone
At this moment in time I am unsure of the nursing role that I am seeking, I am learning more about family nurse practitioner and acute care nurse practitioner as the days go by. Each field has its benefits, and whether I choose to go with FNP or Acute care I know that I will be making a positive difference in the field of nursing. Although I am a little bit unsure at this time, I feel that I am leaning more towards acute care. I love the fact that a nurse practitioner can work in many different specialties like being a nurse practitioner midwife, to working in the emergency department or even working at a clinic in a rural area, the possibilities for nurse practitioners are endless and I am very grateful to be in this program. Working at the hospital provides exposure to many different ailments, and being able to focus on one specific ailment and treat it is where my interest is in. I find the cardiac system to be complex and interesting, arterial lines, chest tubes, and hemodynamics are very interesting to me.
Nurse Anesthetist has been providing anesthesia to patients in the United States for more than 150 years. In the year 1840 the anesthetic qualities of drugs were demonstrated in the country. Ether, chloroform, nitrous oxide is some chemicals who helped nurses and doctors in conducting a modern surgical procedure. Florence Nightingale was a well known nurse because of her work in the Crimean War during the late 1850s, that ushered in the advent of professional nursing. Women started to choose nursing as a vocation. Nurses first gave anesthesia to wounded soldiers from the battlefield during the Civil War. The specialty nurses Anesthesia was then formed. Nurse
One of my talents is that I have a big interest is in nursing,i've been wanting to become an RN since 7th grade. Not only do they get paid good they get health benefits, but they also get to help distribute medicine to patients. Most Rn’s work at hospitals and that's where I plan on working,it's the best place to start because you usually get a lot of patients and you get to learn a lot about many illnesses and conditions.Aside from that this has been one of my passions since I made it into high school, I took a few classes that lead me to be graduating, with a nursing sponsor and hopefully a CNA.This is my 1st year taking this CNA class and it's very exciting, i've had experience assisting at the Northeast Baptist hospital and now taking this
I knew I could be a nurse when I watched blood ooze from my brother’s face. His eyes dripping tears, and body shaking from being scared, he did not know what to do. I however, did not flinch once when I wiped the blood off his small face and hands. He was just two and I remember thinking how I had to fix him. I had to make sure his nose, his forehead, and the of side of his face was okay. I did not think twice about touching blood, or how his whole nose was black and blue. In that moment I was selfless. I chose nursing because I am capable of putting others before me. I am selfless enough to understand what it means to be a nurse, and have to be a mother, a daughter, and a whole family in a patient’s time of need. I am independent, and strong enough to deal with challenges and make the right decisions. In my soul I know I am meant to help people and fix their hurting and sadness. I chose being a nurse, because I am
In addition, every student should be obligated to follow all college professor’s instructions if they want to be successful. The only way I knew I could be obligated to my professor’s instructions was to focus on my goals. Therefore, I was not ashamed to ask a question when I did not understand a topic. For instance, when Scudder met his professor, he was ready to learn. In other words, I was determine, to master my writing skills, so I could become a nurse. My mind was made up to never give up and I looked at life completely different. That is the main reason why I was taking an English course because I wanted to master my writing skills and become a nurse, I knew I was obligated to follow my professor’s instructions because without my professor
My ultimate career goal is to become a certified nurse midwife. I want to help people make decisions about their sexual and reproductive health that best reflect their personal needs and desires. In order to achieve my goal, I would first like to work as a labor and delivery nurse or as an RN in an obstetrical-gynecological clinic.
From ages five to eight I remember pretending to be a school teacher. I had imaginary students and gave them grades for the homework I pretended to give them. I despised actual school though. I hated it because I wasn't the smartest student, I couldn't read very well, and I struggled in making friends. I have always had an interest in the idea of teaching, but since I loathed school, I thought it would be an extremely bad idea for me to choose teaching as my career. I then decided, at the age of 11, I wanted to be a Neonatal Nurse. I wanted to be a part of a baby's full recovery of health after birth. I knew a child from my church that was in the NICU for three months after her birth due to Short Bowel Syndrome, so from then on I wanted to
I started my college education in the nursing field. I was convinced that this is what I wanted to do with my life. Well, three years into college I decided nursing was not what I wanted to do. At that point, I had no idea what I wanted to do. I was limited on time and had to choose a new major so I went with sport and exercise science. I had no idea what I was going to do with that but it didn’t sound too bad. Two years later I graduated with my bachelor’s degree. So four years pass by and I realize that my degree was probably not the best choice for me. I couldn’t find a job, nor did any of the possible jobs peak my interest. I was getting really unhappy in life with my mediocre job and the noninterest in my degree. My boyfriend told me that I should look at going back to school, however, this time he suggested I look into occupational therapy.
In fact, there are several reasons why I chose nursing as my profession. First and foremost is that I want to focus on changing people’s lives (Nurse Journal, 2016). As a nurse, I would study the life's value when I would be seeing individuals struggling to remain alive. Since I am fully aware that each life's breadth is a gift, I would, therefore, understand this lesson further as I would be nursing various patients daily. I greatly respect human life, I possess strong values and I am compassionate for empathy and suffering, factors that have further attracted me to the nursing profession. Second, nursing profession allows continuous learning. As I like learning, I would possess unlimited opportunities for advancing my medical knowledge. As such, I would capable of choosing to work in various departments, train to become a medical assistant and as well enter the nursing management where I would grow and mentor new nurses through sharing my knowledge
Having seen firsthand the destruction and devastation a natural disaster has on a community, my desire as a nurse is to be a first responder. I want to be in the thick of chaos and save lives. Recently our country has experienced many hardships caused by natural disasters, shootings and other types of violence. I want to work in areas that are suffering and use my skills as a nurse to help alleviate that suffering. A long term goal I have is to return to school and get my DNP in midwifery.
Growing up with the childhood I had, I learned that nothing last forever, sooner or later it withers like a flower. I learned that the world is full of pain, but we can learn how to take control.
The nursing profession has been my main goal since I was high school student. The dream is rapidly becoming a reality as I am advancing through the profession phase of my college's nursing program. In my career, my ambition is provide excellent nursing care to each of my patients. Additionally, I hope to create a lasting impression to each individual (patients, family, co-workers) that I encounter in the field. My goals include collaberating with other healthcare providers to implement proper medical management, comfort, and constructive therapy. Once a registered nurse, I plan to apply to the emergency room at major hospital such as Capital Health or Robert Wood Johnson. This department will allow a novice nurse to expand their knowledge and
As I am the eldest child, I would often look after my younger brother, who has asthma and this has led me to have the aspiration to be able to nurse children back into good health. Nursing is not just a job, it is a lifelong devotion to support and help children that are depending on you. You need a positive and caring attitude. Being a successful and well respected child nurse involves you being resilient, flexible, understanding and compassionate; qualities which I believe I have. These are very important qualities because being a child nurse is a challenging yet rewarding career.
What do you want to be when you grow up? This is a common question asked by adults to children. Most of the time, they say jobs like a firefighter, a police officer, a teacher, or even a princess! When I was younger, I wanted to be a veterinarian because the thought of helping animals was amazing. However, now, I want to be a nurse, as one of my relatives was one.
