Without all the wonderful aspects of life that San Francisco has provided me, I don't think I would be the wonderful person I am today. I want to be apart of a team that serves at-risk youth that encourage them to take the right path in life. Instead of allowing youth to repeat the cycle of crime and dropping out of school, I want to be an example to them that you can grow-up in poverty, nonetheless still manage to beat the odds and go to college to obtain a stable job in the future. I feel that people should have a second chance at life where they go to rehab programs and have a mentor to help them achieve their goals in life, as I want to be that mentor one
The documentary San Francisco 2.0 examines how San Francisco city officials have given tax breaks to the Silicon Valley tech industry to move to San Francisco. These new techs companies have brought in a lot of wealth to the city, but at a cost. The majority of the low-income natives are being evicted or having their rents raised so high that they can't afford them. The gentrification of the city has impacted low-income districts (for example, the mission district known for its Latin immigrants) that the residents and the culture are being displaced. I believe the documentary is important for the study of the issue of gentrification because San Fransisco was known for being-counter culture, caring for the arts and for civil progress. The housing

In the Santa Clara Valley, in the years following the war, comparatively very few homes were built in the ways discussed so far in this chapter. The overwhelming majority were built in large tracts numbering from 50 to 200 homes or more. I will tell you how this mass-produced housing came into being in Chapter 7, but for now will continue with some additional GI stories.

As a teen, I had the opportunity to volunteer on a summer mission trip that focused on serving the homeless population in San Francisco. Stricken by poverty and drug addictions the Tenderloin District was unlike anything I had ever seen. Instead of passing judgment or feeling intimidated, I chose to serve these people with compassion and respect. What I experienced during this time was transformational and helped to direct me on a pathway towards service.
I expect to contribute my knowledge in discussions and my different view points on certain topics and issues to the fellowship class of 2016-2017. Society of Fellows seems to put and emphasis on in-depth exploration and philosophy. Being a philosophy minor and taking a few classes to do with philosophy within political

Inglewood, CA is the city that helped shape me into the young man that I am today. Through everyday life I was surrounded by examples whether they were bad or good, but I feel they shaped me for the better. Although growing up I was not as privileged as others I learned how valuable love and loyalty really is. I did not always have all of the “wants” but I had everything that I needed to grow. There was a choice in every situation growing up and there was also consequences for each action. I learned at an early age that wrong choices can have tremendous and detrimental consequences ranging from jail or an early funeral. Luckily I have family that loved me enough to help me stay away from these horrid actions. Knowing that life can be cut short at any moment has helped me take advantage of the time I have and
If I am given the opportunity to be a Detroit Revitalization Fellow I will approach this opportunity with enthusiasm, grit, and drive. With my personality and background I will take advantage of the opportunity to learn and experience new adventures and make a difference in the lives of others. From learning about the Detroit Revitalization fellowship I instantly became excited about the logistics of the program. I like the idea that there will be professional development, and networking opportunities outside of the workplace. I plan to attend as many events and other opportunities to learn from my fellow cohort members and program staff. I believe that I will be able to contribute to this fellowship experience my life experience that
There are three reasons why I came to Sydney. First of all, we can find good part time job easily in Sydney. If I go to the USA, I can't find part time job outside of the university, so we can find a specific job which is in university. In addition, we can get high salary. Second, we can hear many types of accent.
San Francisco is one of America’s most vibrant, richly complex cities to reside in. Anyone who has ever visited or lived in San Francisco knows that available parking is a scarcity. Although well known for its great climate, amazing landmarks, unique attractions and diverse culture, the shortage of parking space is a force to reckon with. The parking demand in San Francisco is so intense that often residents and commuters are routinely frustrated with trying to seize a parking space whether for work, shopping or storing their vehicle. Furthermore, this just downplays how important a parking spot can be for a considerable amount of San Francisco 's occupants. Drivers often scan between 10-30 minutes, once in a while futile, just to locate a desired parking spot. The time connected with discovering a parking spot limits the comfort of traveling in the car and is an implicit expense of driving in San Francisco. Raising prices for residential parking permits, increasing meter rates and changing off-street parking standards are three key areas that require attention to help resolve this dilemma.
The reasons that I got into the field of public administration was the community needs and its’ lifeblood. Plus, I have this desire to constant improve the overall policies for the ideal of good government. Ever since I got into the graduate school for a Master of Public Administration at the San Diego State University. I came from a small town in the east and moved to one of major cities in the United States. Everything and everyone from there opened my eyes wide opened to the world and all of its’ opportunities. I felt and recognized that the opportunity for this fellowship will help me with my career-development into full-time with the local government. Let me share my career goal with you, which is to be a City Manager at one day. Or even to be higher and daring than my current goal. I wanted to make a difference like every public servant wants. Despite of that comment I felt that I know what the hardship is like and I am ready to face more of it. As deaf person, which already experienced struggles and constant breaking barriers. While breaking those barriers I found out two key thinking are proactive and strive. Both of them have enhanced my thinking. Just same necessity for the local government to be a good government by being proactive and strive opposed to reactive or survival. I believe that I am capable candidate with great potential to be one of LGMFs. Especially with plenty of room for me to grow within this fellowship.
