and the increased responsibility I feel to contribute positively to the field of education. I see myself as
Being part of the honors program in middle school and high school gave me wonderful learning experiences. Therefore, It is crucial to be in the Texas A&M International University for my university career. Giving to the community, building important relationships, and setting an example for the young ones in my family is why I would like to take part in this amazing organization.
I know that things will never come easy to me, like they do to some people, but I know that with my dedication to learning is what will set me ahead. I have always been disciplined and motivated to do school work, on weekends, I force myself to stay in at least one night to do my homework and study. The average, normal high schooler would never do this, but I do what the average does not
In the days leading up to my school enrollment in high school, I wondered what this new school system would be like and if I could manage to cope and blend in with the rest of the crowd without losing my unique characteristics. Other than that, I was filled with great exuberance beginning to build the foundation of my destined career as a pharmacist at the same time increasing my skills as a woods craftsman.
An average person spends about 9% of his or her life in school. That’s roughly 14,000 hours in school from the time you enter kindergarten, until the time you graduate high school. Growing up we almost always swear that going to school is the worst possible thing our parents could ever make us do. We thought of it as a punishment rather than a privilege. I had these same emotions majority of my school career, until I met the one teacher who made me excited to come to school every day.
“Men make history and not the other way around. In periods where there is no leadership, society stands still. Progress occurs when courageous, skillful leaders seize the opportunity to change things for the better.” This inspiring quote was said by Harry S. Truman, the 33rd president of our incomparable nation. To me, this quote signifies and represents all that the Posse Foundation stands for and all I aspire to be. This is why I believe I should be a Posse Scholar. From a young age, I was always told to be a leader and not a follower. Those who follow often get left behind. I strive to not blend in with the crowd, but stand out with my ideals. I naturally assume the leadership position in certain situations and I take pleasure in helping and guiding others who look to me for an answer.
I can relate to what Rodriguez was feeling; school has changed me I have a different perspective on life than I did before. I no longer want to just hang out with friends like I use to, I honestly rather be at home with my own family. I have also made it my life goal to change who I am for the better; I have been around lots of people and I’ve been able to see different takes on life at all types of angles. I want to create a better angle for my family; I’m working hard in school to be able to provide this life that I can only dream of right now.
Starting back to school is a big accomplishment for me since I have not attended school
Currently, I am in the eighth grade and I realize the importance of being in school each and every day. I am prepared to get to school on time prepared to learn and follow through with all instructions. My parent makes sure
I am eager for what my future has in store for me. I am apprehensive about the obstacles i will have to overcome on my way to success. I have a great deal of support from my friends and family when it comes to what I am driven to do after graduating from Buckingham Charter Magnet High School. Throughout all the years of my school career, I have always been indecisive about what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. Buckingham Charter Magnet High School has helped me finally decide that I wanted to go to Solano Community College to attend their Cosmetology Program.
When it comes to school, I have tried to better, challenge myself and further my academic
We are finally at the end of the program that I waited so long to be a part of .This program was a great opportunity for me to get out of remedial classes. I strongly believe that this program has benefitted me in many ways, physically, mentally, and socially.
As an aspiring college student from a working class background, I need financial assistance in order to attend college. As a citizen of Waterbury, CT, the Robert T. Kenney scholarship is an excellent opportunity for me to apply and potentially receive aid from this generous foundation. Although the scholarship committee is not obligated to offer me anything, it would benefit me gratefully in my journey to succeed in life and lift myself beyond my blue collar background that I have emerged from. College is very expensive, and it is certainly not becoming any cheaper or easier for students to receive a quality education and the necessary tools to live in our world today.
For this I also took the challenge of learning everything I could and build on my knowledge. Throughout my life there has being several achievements that I am proud of just like any other person but their is one I am most proud of. It was a little before high school that I made a major decision that changed my life forever, my life took a new course.. It was one of those situations that you never expect, I had being accepted to this new program in the district called Early College Academy. This program gave the opportunity to students to be able to take high school classes while taking college credits, with the opportunity of getting their Associate’s Degree with their high school diploma. This was not just a great opportunity for me but it was also a gift, the district was paying for my higher education. As I set myself in this journey I grew up mentally and started to act as a college student, also, I learned to be on top of my classes and go a mile further in what I did. Although, I also encounter new struggles, for example, I was expected to pass a college level test when I was barely starting high
Throughout my educational experience, I have endured countless hardships that made progress difficult at times. Although it was a struggle through my strong dedication to education, I have also earned a list of achievements for my hard work. These experiences from, failing two of my English classes, to excelling tremendously in mathematics, have molded me into the type of student I am today. I am a student with a growth mindset and, an optimistic outlook on education and, the bright future ahead. I now understand the impact that a positive mindset can have on your future. I am definitely proud of the student I have become. I feel like my journey is unique, but is also very relatable.
