Coming from a family with low income and from parents whom did not attend college there was no one to look up to. What I did learn from my father whom was a migrant worker, is that with hard work and a strong potential your dreams can become a reality.
Being a teen mom, I want to be the role model my daughter looks up to. One who is able to provide for her family and try her best to reach her goals regardless of the harships that one may face. As my parents say, "Nothing comes easy, but with hard work everything is possible!".
I believe I should be awarded this scholarship because as a hardworking student I commit myself to effectively take advantage of scholarships that will help me pursue my career in Dental Hygiene. Having the
Coming from a Mexican immigrant family I have learned to recognize since a very young age that because of the status that my parents are placed in they cannot pursue a better future like the one I want. I have been given the opportunity to challenge myself with obtaining a higher education than just high school itself. My parents have demonstrated to me through their hard work that I have to value this opportunity unless I want to end up with low paying job. My life long dedication comes from seeing my parents make sacrifices in order for my education to continue.
I would be honored to receive this scholarship because I am hardworking, dedicated, and try always to be a good role model for others. I am involved in many different things in the school and in the community - from clubs to sports teams to Student Council, where I have always try to do the best I can do. I have maintained good grades and been on honour roll, even while struggling with sickness throughout the year. I would feel honored to receive this scholarship because it would help me to continue on to a successful future. Thank you for your time and consideration in reviewing my
I should receive this scholarship because I'm willing to work hard to get anything in life. My whole life I have worked hard
I was always taught that I must work hard for everything I receive, I believe now is the time to show all I have worked for. At Gulf Coast I plan to obtain my Associate degree in Dental Hygiene. I am assiduous for this scholarship because during my years of high school I have worked hard not only in the classroom but at my job, sports, and clubs as well. Coming into high school as a Freshman I
This scholarship would greatly aid in my ambition to become a Dental Hygienist. With it, I will be able to afford to attend the University of Arkansas in Fort Smith and to provide myself with the lifestyle that I want. It means that I will make my parents proud that their child has achieved her life goal.
I believe I should be awarded this scholarship because I have great leadership and many other great characteristics. I helped raise awareness of obesity in our county to help in getting our percentage back down. I mentored younger children that came from low-wage families on why it was so important to eat right and get an adequate amount of activities, as well as rest each and every day. I did this by using the "GO, SLOW, WHOA" program to make it easier for kids to understand what foods are "go" foods which you can eat as much as you want, which foods are "slow" foods which are foods you should only eat every now and then, and which food is "whoa" foods which you should try to avoid this foods when ever possible. After we presented our presentation
Without a shadow of a doubt, I believe I am a worthy candidate to be consider as a recipient for the scholarship from PHSC foundation. However, I was not raised to go through life thinking that I deserve anything nor was I entitled to receive anything for free. I was taught that anything that is worth having—it is worth working for. So with this in mind, I am applying for the scholarship at PHSC because I am a student who has really worked hard regardless of how difficult things have
I was raised in a environment of Generations after Generations of parents grandparents and family members that had a disadvantage of attending College because lack of finical funds and knowledge of the importance of college. My fathers parents lived the American dream by coming to america from Mexico to have a surpassing life. By hard work and little education they became property owners and raised three kids. My mothers parents had children right out of high school and were considerd poor but with hard and dedication
I stand here today, to talk to the esteemed and prominent legislators of the United States Congress about those whose voices are often drowned out by the politics of their situation. As a diverse population in educational background, socioeconomic level, and nationality, there is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to those who have immigrated to the United States’. Understanding this eliminates the need for false and harsh assumptions that only create a greater gap between our communities. Having grown up in a community made up of immigrants from every corner of Latin America, I can testify to the work ethic and integrity of the people who shaped me into the person I am today.
• Setting a good example, I aim to be a positive role model as children copy what they see. Children learn values and behaviour from adults.
At a young age I learned thanks to my parents that hard work pays off… only if you are putting in all your effort. Coming to the United States and beginning school were some of the hardest things that I have been through in my life the language barrier was one of the toughest things to surpass but by having people along the way to support me helped me thrive . Being supported by my parents teachers and peers has shaped me into the person I am today; not only do they set standards for me but I set standards for myself and try my best to make all those who have been with me along the way proud, just like Collins describes when he speaks of the thoughts of a successful CEO after leaving his company and seeing the great thing he has transformed a once failing business into. That CEO has not only done something good for himself but also for his companions who once worked alongside him in order to make the company thrive and continue growing after his departure. I can see myself in him because being the first in my family to attend college I am setting an example for the younger people such as my siblings and cousins making them more eager to learn and continue on to have a college education in the
My mom came from Honduras and just like many immigrant parents do, she passed on her hopes and dreams to me while she had to work a minimum wage job to take care of both of us. Most of my life I didn't expect to graduate high school, let alone even go to college. But one day when I was in grade 8 I realize something. Hustling would lead me to being dead or in jail and that I wouldn't be able to achieve my mom goals that she had for me and to able to take care of her later on in life.
Why I believe that I should be awarded this scholarship is because I am person who tries and works my best, even when life goes a turn that is either unexpected or not my way. Starting at a young age I was behind in my classes when I was younger, I would have more of a struggles compared to my other classmates. I am always improving. My most hardest subject for me was Math. It is a never ending battle with Math, but everyday I am improving. I had a tough time in the beginning of high school but I am improving, I am learning about my strengths and struggles. I am growing as a person and helping others. I love helping others when they have a difficult time because I understand what they went through. Thank you for considering and reading my essay.
I was born and raised most of my childhood in Colombia with a big family. My grandmother had fifteen kids and my mom was the youngest one of them all. She was also the only one that was able to go to college; my uncles didn’t even finish high school. Because my mother was the only one that went to college I was expected to go to college, not only from my mom, but also my family was expecting me to.
Receiving this scholarship is very important me, not just because it would assist me financially, but because it would also validate all the hard work I have put forth over the last two years. I have set the bar high for myself, and I have never been okay with “just passing.” I have pushed myself to always do the best I could do in all my classes for many reasons. I have children, and I want to show them that hard work pays off and that they have to give a 100% in everything they do in order to reach their full potential. I know that putting in long hours of studying will not only ensure a high grade on my exams, but it will also ensure that I will obtain the knowledge that is going to make me a more qualified dental hygienist. I pride myself
