We all remember how exciting it was receiving emails and postcards from different colleges during our junior and senior year of high school. Touring the school on open house was exciting because they fed you and gave you prizes along with the speeches on why we should choose that school. We also took advantage of the waived fees to turn in college applications. They basically made us feel desired and unique. Little did we know is that they were investing in us, hoping that we would choose to attend their school. Why? Because they wanted our money. Universities act like businesses. Slowly, but surely they get us in debt with loans because tuition is extremely high. What's their excuse? We get what we pay for. I don't think that the cost of attending a school should dictate the type of education we receive. When we finally choose a college to attend, we feel very welcomed and happy with our choice. The postcards we receive in the mail are nice, thinking they're just warm hellos. We go all through orientation thinking that they're not worried about you're money, that they're mainly worried about you just fitting in and getting to know the school. Before you know it they start treating us like customers instead of …show more content…
Loans are designed to help students pay for tuition, books, and living expenses. A high number of students in college take loans because of their financial need. We know from the early 1900's that loans came into work because lenders and schools knew it would make a good business. They weren't thinking about the students best interest, instead they were concerned about how much revenue they would obtain. Many students hear the word "loans" and cringe. Students try to stay out the way of loans and mainly use it as a last resort. I feel like some students are pressured to take the loans because they feel as if they don't get them then they can't attend
The reasons I have decided to go back to school is because I want to further my education to better myself as a single mother, and I want to show my children that you should never give up on your goals no matter how challenging life can be. Also, I chose to go back to school so that I can boost my son's confidence level so when he does homework, I will be right by his side doing mines whether its researching, reading, or typing papers. My ultimate goal for using this degree is to receive additional pay through my employer once I have obtained my degree. Secondly, I want to expand my career in law
An essay on Issues and Controversies states, "the college degree remains the most important credential associated with the American ideal of upward mobility" ("Value of a College Degree"). This has become the central focus of people wanting a career and a future, but when going to attend college, the price is so high, that the only option for those wanting their education is taking out student loans. Student loans should be there to help students who cannot pay for their entire education, not hurt them. According to Christine Armario, four- year university prices have increased 15% between 2008- 2010 ( "Average Cost of Four- Year University up 15%"). This means that students are going to be paying more for an average college education that is necessary to get a job in the field that interests that student. Student loans seem to be the only option for students who want and need a college level education to begin or further their careers, so why are student loans so hard to pay
Media surrounds us, from the graphic design on our morning cellophane coffee cups, to the carefully designed spreads in the magazines we religiously read. The world of Media and Film is beautifully complex, and something which I strongly want to be involved with. I have always immersed myself in the world of Media, and have only ever felt truly satisfied when I’ve been involved in broadening my knowledge and understanding of the industry.
After making the decision to go back to school, I began to wonder what career would I pursue and which college to attend. Discovering the many benefits of being a student at Louisiana State University at Eunice made it an easy decision. Because I chose to attend LSUe, I am able to have a work-life balance at a small college that offer many different opportunities.
I have now chosen to go to college because I realized that it’s never too late to start a career, also to prove to my son that you can accomplish anything no matter how tough he may think it may be. I am a 22-year-old single mother of a 4-year-old little boy. I struggle everyday with trying to take of my son and decided to drop out of college. I decided that, maybe I could just get a good paying job and forget about college. I’ve come to realize that wasn’t going to be a good example for my son and wasn’t going to work out well. I have now chosen to go back to college to start my career, personal reasons, and financial reasons.
Ever since I was a little girl, I have wanted to attend North Dakota State University. Both my sister and dad are NDSU alumni, so furthering my education where they did gives us something special we can share. Additionally, not many of my relatives attended college, allowing me to see the difficulties in providing for yourself and family without a college degree. Although I know the next seven years are going to be challenging, strenuous, and will push me to the edge of my comfort zone, the satisfaction of administering medical services to those who need them will make it all worth it. Not only will I be able to care for others with a Pharm. D., but my own opportunities will grow. Whenever I get discouraged during the coming years, my mantra will be “college is an investment in myself,” a reminder to keep working hard.
Education sits at the core of human existence; without it, we would not be able to accomplish our simplest goals, but with it, the options are limitless. My mother always told me that "education is the best gift you can give someone," which is where the foundation of my pursuit to give all individuals the gift of scholarship sprouted. Growing up as a female in America, I never understood the importance of education until I became aware of an organization known as She's the First (STF), which enables young, uneducated women from different countries to have the same opportunities that we take for granted. Though I am fortunate enough to have been given the opportunity to attend exceptional schools throughout my life. Many women in different countries cannot say the same.
Why Colorado Christian University In 1979 I enlisted in the US Navy. I was in college and wanted to complete my education. While in the Navy I always said to myself I will finish college someday. I got married and it seem that that goal will never happen. Years when by, then in 2000 I when back to school, worked hard and received my Associate degree in Accounting. Work at the County of Orangeburg as Purchasing Clerk for 9 years. The goal of getting a BS degree can up. But it was on the back burner again. I just did not had the time, coaching high school football, job, Church all was too much at that time. BY this time I had Kids in college, seem like the dream was over then. In 2011 I enroll at Colorado Technical College, for a year did not complete.
This year leading up to my first quarter at college has been filled with so much information, change, and learning. I believe the ultimate goal of going to college is to set yourself up for a bright future. Thanks to all the amazing seminars, presentations, and learning opportunities the Women Leader Forum provided to the Youth Women Leaders I believe I am on the right track. Thank you for allowing us to listen to such inspiring and successful women. As if that wasn't enough, you allowed us to learn firsthand from professional women leaders with a career that interests us. I was very fortunate to be given a mentor that was so willing to teach me and who worked in an office with other successful women who also served as mentors. Thank you for
During the summer after my first year of college, I spent four weeks visiting my three-month premature identical twin nieces at a neonatal care facility. My time with my nieces was sometimes challenging because of the complications that came with their premature birth. Nevertheless, I loved every minute of my time I had with them. I met the most incredible nurses and doctors at the facility and became fascinated with the work that was done. Although I was majoring in science at the time, I had no idea what career I wanted to pursue with my studies. Upon my return to Monroe Community College, I came to realize that my dreams can become a reality. In the same way that my nieces struggled during their first month of life, I struggled through my first years in America. With a lot of help and even more dedication, I have overcome many challenge and now look forward to the trials to come.
I was raised in a very negative household, filled with alcoholism, mental abuse, and financial turbulence. As a child I did very poorly in school, and often failed classes because I was so angry and withdrawn. To my knowledge, my teachers did not know about my home life.
I am still trying to figure out is how I will pay for college and therefore am not sure what I need the my financial aid package to look like in order for me to be able to attend Lycoming. While I hope to collect the money I have earned from working during high school, I do not know if I will have access to this when I move out.
I will be attending Fairmont State University in the fall to acquire a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science to expand my knowledge, skills, and opportunities. I want to learn beyond what high school had to offer me and develop new skills to help me find a career. My goal is to have a stable, dependable job. I am certain going to a university will expand my opportunities and career qualifications. Another major reason I want to go to college is because I want to experience cultural diversity and learn more about the world around me. I believe that going to college is the best way for me to achieve my aspirations and fulfill my ambitions.
My father retired one year ago, and It has been difficult for my two other siblings In MED school. College tuition took a big part of my family’s usual conversation, I grew up knowing that there will be a problem with me attending college, and that my family could probably not afford it. My family gives me great support, and they are working hard to try and start paying for not only one or two but for three college tuitions.

My love for travelling gave me opportunity to visit England and Dubai for several years before finally moving here with my parents.
