Being a third grader, I wanted to try something new to make new friends and be more involved in my community. I decided to join 4-H, which is a club where I can compete in events, do projects, and show livestock. 4-H was filled with numerous activities to do and I knew there had to be at least one that suited me. I started to show poultry and as the years went by I started to show different species of livestock as I wanted to try raising different animals. Not only did I show livestock, I also competed in public speaking where I found that communicating in front of a crowd was my talent.
Public speaking came naturally to me. I was not afraid to stand in front of family, friends, and strangers to let my voice be heard. From public speaking

I have volunteered to be a host for 4-H’s Performing Arts competition. I have done community service through 4-H and the local recycling center. I have became more involved in school. I have also became more determined for my academic success.

From being more professional, confident, and responsible has helped me become more of an adult. From the money I saved up selling animals from 4-H, I bought my first car. From gaining experience in interviews, and being able to speak with confidence, helped me get my first job. Being responsible has helped me be able to take on more responsibilities while being independent. Not only have I had personal growth, I have had my eyes opened to

From my years in 4-H and Business Professionals of America have sparked personal growth throughout my life. I have gained valuable life skills such as being more confident, responsible, professional, and independent. These skills have opened up my eyes to the life of adulthood which is the greatest personal growth as I will be packing my bags to further my education. These skills do not only pertain to growing up, but my future career. Being a veterinarian, these skills I have previously listed are a necessity to prosper in this
I realized after being able to handle an angry customer positively, I have matured working at Wendy’s. To be able to not step out of character when someone you don’t know is yelling at you because of tomatoes is huge. Having a job helped me practice professional skills. I also had to learn to save money because the same weekend I got my check I spent half of it. My first job made me feel like a complete adult, and although it was stressful, maturing is a step in life I knew I was going to face soon
I volunteered at the Gonzales City volleyball clinic where I assisted the head coach by helping the young volleyball players learn how to set, serve, hit, and bump. I did this three times a week for three hours each day. The clinic consisted of children from ages 7-14 and each age group went in at different times. Also, I did community service at my local St. Theodore Church by helping in the jumping house at the church carnival. For the past four seasons I helped fundraise at the high school football games by selling food at the stadium snack bar. In every home football game I would stay for more than half of the game in the snack
I have been able to develop real-world skills that has helped me to succeed both in school and at home. I have learned leadership, problem solving, time management, communication skills and how to work with others. I can see firsthand that the work I have done has made a real impact in the community.
When I'm not in school I have Since my freshman year I have been doing marching band. As a sophomore I took my position as a upperclassman to help my freshman to the best of my ability. I help the freshman in my section to read drill, marching techniques, and how to play the music. While doing that I also do activities with my Girl Scout troop. I have been in Girl Scouts since the 4th grade and that has been a wonderful learning experience. From learning the ways of sales, to taking educational trips around the state i have grown in skill and character. Also for the last 3 years I have been the 2nd in highest cookie sales so that has been been very beneficial. Then during the summer I volunteer at the Durham Art's Council's Summer Camp as
I have been in a few school activities. One of the main activities that I have been involved in is Color guard. Since my sophomore year, I have been on the guard and participating in all of the competitions with the band. It is a great way to get involved, make new friends, and create new experiences. I am also in my school’s National Honor Society which is an organization that consists of the top academic scholars. We do volunteer work and do activities that display integrity. We have done blood drives as well as packaged food for Kids Against Hunger. That is another organization that people can do to help package food for children across seas that don’t have any source of nourishment. I am an active thespian which is a group of sorts that is dedicated to the fine arts. I have been one since my freshmen year and have been either stage manager or assistant stage manager for two plays and three musicals. My junior year as well as this year I was involved in National
Over the course of high school, I have engaged in my community in various ways. For one, I have donated my time volunteering for health-related organizations that promote good causes, such as the “Heart Walk” for the American Heart Association and the Alzheimer's Walk. Over the summer of 2017, I assisted nurses in maternal fetal medicine with clerical work through the VolunTeen program
During the my sophomore year of high school, I decided to join a club at my school name Intercat. Intercat is a great way to help out in my community and my school. Over the time I contribute a positive change in my school by joining the Teen Suicide Prevention and Awareness which we learn how to help someone out if we notices that they are going to a hard time. In my community I have done Feeding America, Keeping Moreno Valley Beautiful, Rotary Thanksgiving Dinner, Ride Moval, Helped out the Senior Center cleaning, The Springtastic Festival, I helped out with the Senior Citizen Prom and a lot more.At the end of my sophomore year I did 84.5 hours of community services. I loved helping out so I did it again, my junior year during for school
Public speaking has always been very hard for me, I've never been the type to stand in front of an audience and speak or do a presentation. No matter how many times I've done presentations I've always get nervous or shy and always forget what I rehearsed. In the military I was training Nco, everytime we had a new marine check in to our unit or are shop. I would be the one to give them and the A presentation on what is expected of them and also give them information about the unit and our shop. In my opinion the Marine Corp prepared me for public speaking, especially if you where lower rank and your senior enlisted would throw you to the wolves and send you up there to give the
learning to be more responsible and independent giving me a sense of self pride. Furthermore, I
I was part of a group that helped raise money and get school supplies that was for the student of the Judson school district who could not afford to get them, themselves. I am still active in community services, even though I am not as active as i once was I still do what i can and it is a big part of who i am and i love to help and offer my services for things that really help others and my community. I am a very diverse type of person, i like to be active in different things. In intermediate school my 6th grade year i played basketball for one year through BVYA. I was in band for three years, it was my 6th grade year to my 8th grade year i played the flute
For the past eight years, I have been apart of the First Town Veterinary Science 4-H Club. In this club I have held leadership positions such as reporter, secretary, treasurer, vice president, president and junior club advisor. A major take away I have from participating in 4-H is community service and learning how to feel confident in myself. By having leadership roles and being an active member in the club, I was able to feel comfortable speaking in front of others and showing off my abilities through public speaking, projects and essays. As I went through high school I was able to do presentations in front of the class, present a concussion project in front of 100 plus coaches, run for shad derby queen which included speeches in front of
My 4-H story starts at the Marshfield Fair. I used to visit the fair every year, and dreamed about having an animal like the “big kids”. Then, as I got older, I stopped visiting the fair. The idea slowly faded from my mind. Then, when I was in fifth grade, ne of my friends came in wearing a shirt that had the 4-H clover on it. When I asked her about it, she explained that 4-H members are the kids who bring the animals to the Marshfield Fair. I instantly knew that I wanted to join 4-H.So when I was 12, I joined the Muddy Buddy swine club. Ever since that first meeting, I realized that 4-H is my niche. I was never really into sports. I tried everything from soccer to basketball, but I never felt the same passion that I do for 4-H. I also came
This really helped me to find my confidence and taught me how to get rid of the nerves that comes with public speaking. There is always room to improve and through the speech classes I took throughout high school I feel like I improved in my speaking skills. One of my strengths is being good at preparation. Preparation is a very important factor in making a good speech. Knowing your audience, your topic, and knowing how to organize a speech properly is something I find to be a strength. Another strength of mine that I previously stated is knowing how to get through any nerves that I have. My weaknesses of public speaking include my newly developed stutter, talking too fast, and not speaking super clearly. With speeches I am much better at putting the speech together rather than actually giving
For as long as I can remember, public speaking has always been one of my greatest weaknesses. Whether it’s a simple in-class presentation or a speech in front of an auditorium filled with people, I can barely get my words out from the anxiety and
believe our life experiences can bring us many different learning opportunities if taken. Which can bring
