Staying focused on the tasks at hand and remember why I’m going to school will help me stay on track. I also have a great support system my wife, Kristie, and my son Justin keeps me on my toes the entire tine. I think scheduling your time wisely and balancing it out is very important. It’s funny when my son Justin sees on the computer say to me your doing school work right? I respond and tell yes I am doing school work so he turns the volume down on the TV. My Focus: I have to say when I’m overwhelmed I talk to my wife, Kristie, and if that don’t work I enjoy listening to Christian music I find that it helps me relax. I try to keep a clear head by taken one day at a time and also by taken as many breaks as needed to keep calm. I also remind myself that I have what it takes to accomplish my
College is often a word that can bring positive or negative thoughts depending on one’s experiences. The process of being accepted, maintaining high standards once accepted, and then paying off debts is stressful. Once adapted to college, the most important task is determining what you want to do with your life. Dan Rather once said, “A college degree is the key to realizing the American dream, well worth the financial sacrifice because it is supposed to open the door to a world of opportunity (“Quotes about College Students”).” The biggest question a student must ask themselves is “What door do I want to open up for the rest of my life?” For instance, two characteristics that describe me are athletic and business minded. As I searched for
I would like to attend college because I want to be successful in life, I understand it is getting harder to get a job with only a high school diploma and it is sure to get worse. My goals for the future include getting into a college with a good teaching and mathematics program, this could give me a variety of jobs and I was speaking to someone and they told me that people are looking out for women who have a degree in mathematics which will help me to obtain a good paying job.
I have many motivation of going back to college. First, I learned that you will need an education to accomplish things in this world. Second, I am so ready to have my own daycare center. Finally, most all I must be a role model to my siblings, relatives and goddaughter.
I think that by pursuing an education I will have more opportunities available to me to help my community and my family. I am working towards a degree in Liberal Studies which I will use to become a multiple subject accredited teacher. Once I achieve my goal of a Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Studies I would like to continue my education through a graduate program. I am motivated to pursue a college degree because neither of my parents finished college, and therefore I would like to be the first one in my family to do so.
Reasons for me to go back to college are so I can better myself for the sake of my children. By me having a college education it will allow me to give them a chance to show them what they can become in life by having a college education. It will also show them that by having a college education it will allow them to have better variety in job selections. It will also help me get a better job so I will be able to help support them in anyway possible, and it will allow me to start saving for their college education.
Being raised in a lower class town in New Jersey, the only people I actually knew that furthered their education after high school were my teachers and a very low percentage of my friends. Coming from parents who were born in another country, they never had the opportunity to further their education and are sometimes clueless when it comes to mine. You can say I never had a detailed plan on how my life would be after I graduated high school. Being one out of four children in my family, I was determined to continue my education after high school and attend college. Not just for me, but to make my family proud. I want to be that role model figure for my little sisters, that I never had growing up.
I was raised by my father until I was 13 years old, he was a school bus driver and always struggled to provide for us. At 13 I went into fostercare where I fell pregnant and droped out of highschool at the age of 16. I raised my daugher on my own, I decided to go back to school to work twards my grade 12 so I could apply for college. After reciving the needed credits to apply for college. Being the first person in my family to attend college, I had to figure everything out on mu own and Being a single parent and no finacial or moral support from any family, I struggled to even come up with the $90 to apply for the "Ontario Colleges". I did my reaserch and found that due to bein a crown ward I was eligible for certian things that helped me finally
My senior year of high school I sat in my moms car on the Purdue campus and cried over a pamphlet about veterinary medicine. I had worked myself to the bone for four years of high school and I was changing my mind completely after my acceptance. To many people it may not have seemed like a big deal at such a young age, however I am a planner. I like to know exactly what I am going to be doing and when exactly I will be doing it. To see the future that I had so painstaking planned fall apart was a scary experience. As my mom sat there thinking she asked me: "Samantha, what do you really enjoy? What is your passion? If you could pick any career regardless of the pay what would it be?" This was a tough question for me. I had chosen vet med specifically because of the high salary and my love of animals. The fact of the matter was I did not enjoy science and I really did not enjoy math. My heart was with history, government, and politics. As we drove home that day we bounced around several career options within my chosen fields. Coming into IUPUI I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted to do, thanks in big part to my internship at a local law office.
You ask, why do I want to attend college? , probably expecting the most common response of a heart to heart sob story coming from a not so fortunate young lady residing in Sanford, Florida. I am not taking that option I like to call the “easy toll” paying everyone a feeling that results in a sign of sympathy. I don’t need sympathy; I wish to just impress anyone just by my intellect ways and showing that I am headstrong. There are a numerous amount of reasons why I would love to attend college but the main three is that it really is the only possible way to become comfortably successful, my ancestors fought for me to even go to school and further my education, and to make the woman that raised me proud.
After graduation, I want to attend either Bradley university, Lewis university, or University of Illinois at Chicago with intentions of receiving my bachelors degree in either mechanical or civil engineering. I have intentions to attend college for the sake of my future and my family. Being the first one from my clan to attend college would surely make the trials and tribulations both my parents undergo worthwhile. It would be helpful for me knowing that I would not have to live such a difficult live like my father, who lives paycheck to paycheck every week. I hope to make attending college possible by raising as much money dedicated towards my education so that my student debt does not overwhelm me. In order to do that, I must continue to
I was raised in a very negative household, filled with alcoholism, mental abuse, and financial turbulence. As a child I did very poorly in school, and often failed classes because I was so angry and withdrawn. To my knowledge, my teachers did not know about my home life.
When a student thinks college, the first thing they start to think is what do I want to major in. Most high school students have it set in their mind that you need to have a major going into college but that is not true. You can go into college undeclared therefor you do not need to know what you want to do in your life later on. Due to the fact that many high school students do not know what they want to do with their life, there are fairs like the financial literacy fair to show students what the real life is like. In our classes where BankNewport attended, we worked with them to choose a major to work with. This is where we then used that major to come up with a budget for the trip. During the financial literacy fair we went to many different tables to budget out monthly income. The question is, did I do well in budgeting my money.
Ever since I was little, I have interested in many different areas of the world. I love playing basketball, reading books, and playing on the computer among other things. In my household, getting an education is mandatory. My parents always told me to work hard and get good grades. I wondered where all these numbers on a report card would get me. I soon learned that high school was a stepping stone for college and a college degree would help me get a high-paying job. What my parents never told me was to explore what I wanted to be. The only two professions mentioned in my household were doctor and engineer. Although both professional are very respectable, I found no interest in them.
When I was a senior in high school the first thing that came to my mind when I thought about college, was freedom. As I got into college I took it a little to far, along with a few other things. Now I have lived “the college life” for just about a semester I have a really good handle on everything. I feel as if I have definitely grown up a lot.
The term education means to be enlightened, to acquire knowledge or to get training in a specific profession or career. I have always wanted to be an Accountant and in order to attain this goal; I knew I have to be educated. Education is vital to me and I believe having a good college education is the catalyst to a successful future, which will equip me with the knowledge of the world around me. Personally, apart from benefiting from a college education socially, it will open up windows of opportunities for me in the labor market. This would give me a competitive edge in a work place environment and hopefully, the skills I would be acquiring would enable me adapt to different working environments around the world. In most countries around the globe, companies require at least a college degree as a minimum requirement in securing a job.
