My career goal is to receive an Associates of Arts’ Degree in Visual Communications. I have a strong passion for graphic design ever since I graduated from Compton high school. When I graduate from Los Angeles Trade Tech College, I plan to transfer to California State University, Long Beach to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design in 2018. I have chosen to go to college because I know higher education means that I can have a good paying job. I am the first individual in my family to go to college.
I don’t have a job now and it’s a hardship because I need the financial help. I also need to wake up early to ride the train to come to school because I don’t have a car anymore. I know earning a college degree will provide me with a better
There have been many times in my college career that I have considered changing my major. When I told my dad that I was considering it, he would always ask what I wanted to do instead. After thinking about my options, I couldn’t think of anything else that I would be interested in besides teaching. I am already in my second year of college as an education major, and here at IU Southeast, most of the prerequisites that are required will not transfer over to another major. After having this fear for a several semesters now, I am curious to see what other jobs that I can obtain with an education degree, and the pay difference between careers with the same college degree.
The career that I will be researching is Cosmetology. There are really two reasons why I chose this career. The first reason is so I can help work my way through college. At first I wanted to go for a lawyer so I was looking at seven years of college, but now I am looking to go for business to open my own salon. The second reason is because since I was a little girl I have always loved doing hair. I find that when you do somebodies hair you are actually doing a good deed. They may walk into that salon not feeling as confident as they usually do because their hair is messed up or outgrown, and then when they leave your salon, they feel like a brand new person, and honestly that is what I love most about this occupation. I hope to learn that this is honestly the occupation for me. That I will be comfortable doing hair for the rest of my life. A lot of girls will drop out because once they go to school for cosmetology, they find out doing hair all the time is not something that they want to do. I found out that I enjoy it. I also want to learn that I will be able to support myself and my future family on this job and this job only if I open my own salon.
My passion for healthcare cultivated because of my family. Throughout my childhood and adolescent years, I got an opportunity to volunteer helping around the nursing home where my mother worked as a licensed practical nurse. Looking back, on those experiences influenced my entire career in so many diverse ways. Learning ample amounts of wisdom from various honorable people. As a child I was always trying to help my mother, grandmother, aunts, my church take care of others in our family and the community. Once I graduated from high school I did not know if I was prepared for college. Likewise, I was not sure if I wanted to become a registered nurse and follow my mother’s footsteps. However, I did attend a technical training school and became a certified nursing assistant in 2005. During my five year gap year, I conducted research on several different areas and aspects of healthcare. Over the course of ten years I have had the opportunity to experience different segments of healthcare. From the different settings of healthcare, exploring different business opportunities offered in healthcare, and educational and technical skill trainings. These three topics really influenced my decision to pursue a healthcare career.
Hello, I am Alejandro Moncada and I’m currently a college student at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), majoring in Graphic Design with two minors in Illustration and Motion Media Design. My expected graduation date is 2018, and I am both excited and daunted about what the future may have in stock for me.
Deciding to pursue a degree was an easy decision because I didn’t choose to further my education for normal reasons. My two reasons on why I went back to school are because of competition and pride. The first being competition comes from the fact that I’m one of twelve children. Sibling rivalry is a very real thing and competing against eleven other individuals to show how you fit in the food chain is difficult. Only three of my siblings have completed their college education two of them graduating with a master in their fields as well as having 3.5 or higher GPA. As for the other sibling, she recently graduated with her bachelors with 3.9 and has been recently accepted into her master’s program. I’m one of three who is currently going to college
Throughout my high school career I have been involved in numerous extra-curricular activities. I have had the opportunity to meet brilliant, well-rounded staff, faculty, and students. All of these people have had a massive impact on my life. As a freshman I did not have a passion for any career field and felt indifferent about college. As a senior, I have learned about who I am and what I can do for others. I learned that I have a passion for helping children excel as both athletes and students. I learned that I love working with computers. I found out how much I love being on a team and participating in sports. As a senior at GNBVT, I’ve gained important life skills that will help me peruse whatever passion I chose.
What motivated me to enroll at GCU and pursue a degree in higher education is to live my dreams and to also to let my grandfather live to see his wish comes to pass. My grandfather is my biggest motivation growing up with my grandparents from I was nine months old until I migrated to the united states for college give me a great inspiration about education, my grandmother always uses to teach me how to read adult books, when I was just a third grader. She would normally say if I can not read the adults book I must read all the sign words I know and pronouns the big words in syllables. My grandmother plays the mother figure in my life during that time frame, I become a great reader and use to be the honor student in school, two years after my grandmother was admitted to a hospital to do a
My senior year of high school I sat in my moms car on the Purdue campus and cried over a pamphlet about veterinary medicine. I had worked myself to the bone for four years of high school and I was changing my mind completely after my acceptance. To many people it may not have seemed like a big deal at such a young age, however I am a planner. I like to know exactly what I am going to be doing and when exactly I will be doing it. To see the future that I had so painstaking planned fall apart was a scary experience. As my mom sat there thinking she asked me: "Samantha, what do you really enjoy? What is your passion? If you could pick any career regardless of the pay what would it be?" This was a tough question for me. I had chosen vet med specifically because of the high salary and my love of animals. The fact of the matter was I did not enjoy science and I really did not enjoy math. My heart was with history, government, and politics. As we drove home that day we bounced around several career options within my chosen fields. Coming into IUPUI I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted to do, thanks in big part to my internship at a local law office.
I have grown up in a predominantly white, well-resourced, private school in suburban Maryland; therefore, inequality has been an inevitable factor in my educational experience. Although my school tried to include me, I still often felt isolated. From the time I was able to comprehend the idea of inequality and injustice, I developed an intense desire to fight for others if unfair actions were taken against them. As I grew older, this passion grew stronger, and I came to realize that fighting for justice is what I hope to be doing for the rest of my life.
Before I can achieve a degree, I must commit to my studies. Education is the strongest foundation in any career. As it stands, I have taken interior design, architecture, and all levels of art including AP studio art, which I am currently enrolled in. My Advanced placement and honors classes have
My hope for my grades is that I will continue to strive to do well academically and so therefore I anticipate on making an A in the course. I have taken Advanced Placement courses in high school and managed to make quality grades throughout the classes, so I will strive to carry over that same determination into this course. This class covers topics that I take a great interest in, which I desire to be able to apply. I am currently on a path to gain an Associates degree in Education and my hope is to specifically teach History, which the material from this class also is empowering me to further my knowledge in my future career choice. All these combined reasons are why I am going to strive to learn the most I can, and earn an A for the
I am a disabled military veteran who served ten years in the U.S. Air Force with two tours in the Middle East. I have pursued many interests to fruition with my first being in audio production and music engineering. My interest in music production began as a hobby, but grew to acquiring a formal education for which I earned a certificate in audio production from the Berklee School of Music in Boston and opened and operated Serial Sound Studios, a local music studio. During my time running the studio I got the opportunity to teach music production classes for Sandhandle Workshops, I found I had an interest in teaching and decided to sell my studio to go back to school and pursue a degree in teaching. At first I was inclined to studying music, but after taking English Composition 2 at Northwest Florida State College with Dr. Deidra
I have decided to pursue post-secondary education for various reasons. For instance, I am interested in particular subjects, such as Business and Applied Sciences, and would love to be able to study within these faculties while learning about something that captures my interest. I feel that by attending post-secondary, selecting and building a career would be much easier. After receiving a degree, chances of obtaining a good job with a well-established company will be greater and I hope to one day work as a software engineer for a major company such as Google or Microsoft. Another reason I wish to attend post-secondary is because I wish to help make a change in our world one day. Attending post-secondary will help me gain the knowledge and
Furthermore, it is this perpetual drive to continue my art career that has led me to the decision of applying to the College of Fine Art at the University of Texas. Being a student at this university is the next step for me to take in order to achieve a successful career as an artist and illustrator. I plan to use my degree in Fine Arts to become a character designer and storyboard artist for an animation studio. This career entices me the most because I feel that my unique vision and artistic background suit the demand of today’s animation
Ever since I was fifteen I wanted to attend college. I wanted to do something with my life and peruse a dream. I knew a college education was an important aspect and I wanted to experience it. I had goals that I wanted to achieve, and I knew it was not going to easy. I need to find a way to support the cost, the illness my mother was going through, and the negative comments I received because, I wanted something better.
