I plan to attend the University of Florida, and major in Biomedical Engineering. In eighth grade, I decided that in order to get a head start I would do dual enrollment in high school. I took my first two official college courses my sophomore year of high school. Through Florida Southwestern State College, I was able to enroll in French I and II, along with Psychology and Human Growth and Development. My junior year, I decided to be a full-time dual-enrolled student at Florida Gulf Coast University. I plan to earn my AA in May of 2018. I hope that by earning my AA in high school, I will be able to reduce both cost and time in achieving my degree. If possible, I plan to enroll in the summer term at the University of Florida as one of the …show more content…
Lastly, I plan to continue working with Champions for Learning. I want to mentor a child and discuss my career during a lab session. I understand that my family and I are not living below the poverty line or fighting over bus fare, but this scholarship will still greatly benefit me. When my sister filed the FAFSA, she was not given an extraordinary amount of money. She had to take out loans to pay for her education. My family and I cannot afford to take out any more loans. In 2014, we lost our house due to foreclosure. For two years, every penny we earned went to our savings account to save up for a house. When I was fourteen years old, I had saved up five-thousand dollars for college. I decided to give the money to my parents in order to buy our house. I am a senior in high school, and I have not managed to recoup my money. Meanwhile, my parents are tied down to a thirty-year mortgage. In addition, my grandfather, who lives in Mexico, has been diagnosed with depression. My parents have been sending money over there in order to pay for his care and medicine. Trying to find the right treatment for him has made money a bit tight in my household.
Apart from my financial need, I believe I deserve this scholarship as I am very determined. Determined to not only continue my education and pursue my dream but to do so with as little debt. This past year, I have been
In Fall 2017, I plan to attend Florida International University to obtain my bachelor degree in Biology. After I obtain my bachelor’s in biology I plan to go to school and become an orthopedic surgical assistant. During my time as an orthopedic surgical assistant, I want to be able to go to
It would be hard to say I deserve it more than them, however I desperately need it. I am a mother of three children under the age of nine. My Fafsa report tells me and everyone else a story that is no longer true and because of it I will not be receiving any financial aid. This year my family has been on many social programs such as WIC, SNAP, and Medicaid but this has not been taken in to consideration. I will be returning to college in the fall after many years in the work force and being a stay at home mom. Now, I am being forced to stay at home because I am not qualified in a job that will make enough to pay child care and still contribute to my bills. With this scholarship, I will be able to get closer to my dream of being a teacher, without putting stress on my family of more debt, and I will be able to help my family become more independent by being able to contribute. I will also be a great example to my children, that no matter what you keep reaching for your goals and you never give up. Please help me reach my
My mom and dad make a combined yearly salary of less than $70,000. They also help provide for me, my brother, and my sister. They help pay for school, clubs, extracurricular activities, phone bills, insurance, and so much more for all three of us and plus themselves. I work at Foodland in Scottsboro making minimum wage and I try to pay for what I can, such as my tuition and books so far, gas, food, clothes, and other necessities. As of right now I am running out of spending money and my parents are trying to provide for all of us as best as they can, and we are not eligible for Pell Grant. Gaining this scholarship would be very beneficial in helping me gain my Associates Degree here at Northeast so i can achieve my goal to transfer to the University
This scholarship would have a positive impact on my education and help my mom pay for college without taking student loans. My mom has been a single mom for eighteen years and has supported me, my brother, and grandparents. She does not receive child support on a regular basis and does everything on her own. Unfortunately, my younger brother is an accident-prone child and has racked up some high medical bills throughout the years. For countless years she has worked two jobs to support everyone and provide anything within reason. My mom is currently unemployed due to the downturn in the oil field in west Texas. Now she has taken on the challenge of remodeling and flipping houses.
My grandmother was a nurse who helped deliver babies. Everybody who worked with her was her friend and looked up to her including her patients. She passed away two years ago after battling cancer. She is my inspiration and I hope to become a great nurse just like her. By being awarded a scholarship I would be able to pursue my dream career and receive the education I need to do so. I work full time and attend school full time and I'm doing everything on my own with no financial support outside of loans. I have taken out loans to help me but I can't afford to keep taking out loans. Even though I am required to use my parent's information for FASFA I do not receive any financial help from them to complete my schooling. I am on my own. They make
However, my joy is marred by the fact that I have to cope with significant financial problems. During all these years I was forced to take low-wage jobs and, as a result, I don’t have any savings. I live on my own. My amazing parents have supported me morally and financially throughout my life, but they are not young already and close to retirement age. As a 30-year-old woman, I realize that very soon it will be my turn to take care of them. I live alone and have to pay all learning and living costs and to support myself. My student loan will not cover my accommodation costs. These are the realities of my life. That is why receiving this scholarship means a lot to me. It will give me the opportunity to complete my education and subsequently will allow me to succeed in life. Therefore, any financial help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time and consideration.
This scholarship has come to help relieve some of the financial tension that comes along with pursuing a college education. it has been almost entirely up to me to raise the funds to attend the college of my choice. My dream is to be able to raise every dollar needed to pay expenses for the next two semesters by the time summer ends; so i do not accumulate any debt.
I need this scholarship so that I can relieve some of the financial burdens that have been placed upon me. Recently I was able to obtain the HOPE scholarship; however, I have come to understand that this scholarship only pays for a small percentage of my tuition. I am also inching closer to obtaining my degree and will need to be able to pay for my graduation dues. I also have to pay for books as well as be able to live comfortably. While my father does have a decent job and can provide for his family, he also has a younger son that will be going off to college in the fall. He cannot afford to send both my brother and I to school without eventually leading towards debt. Therefore, I am extremely in need of this scholarship for school. If this
This scholarship can provide me with the tuition to go to college. My financial situation is not great because in my family does not have a lot of income. I want to go college and learn how to start my career . I am the first person to go college. I need this and it can help me because of low income.I happening really
I believe that I should be awarded this scholarship because of these three things: I have a good GPA, I am persistent, and I am not so rich. My GPA shows that I will be able to make this scholarship useful because I will not fail my classes. Although I have a good GPA, I honestly don't think it is because of my intelligence. In fact, I don't think I'm smart. I always look back at my notes and look online to understand better on what I'm learning. I am a very slow worker but I am persistent, and I would be willing to take more time than others to finish my work. However, even with this effort that I am willing to put in, it would be a waste if my mother can't even help pay for my college. She is a single mother who works overtime a lot in order
This scholarship will help me greatly due to the fact that I have to take out loans every year as a student. Working as an RA has helped lower the amount of loans that I have to take every year but this scholarship will help even more. During the summer, I work 60 hours a week to reduce my loan size and pay for my schooling. Next year my sister will also be attending college so it is going to be difficult for my family to support the both of us. That is why I am applying for this scholarship, to reduce the amount of financial stress for myself and my
I deserve this scholarship, I am from a single parent household with the just my mom. I have four siblings. I am the middle child, so I don’t get all the attention in the household, I get the least. So everything that I have or want me must work harder than the other members in the house. Everyone in the household looks for me to make it to a four year college or university. Everyone wants me to be able to get enough scholarship, so that my mother doesn’t have to come out of pocket and pay money. Most of my mom’s income is for the bills, and food so she doesn’t have enough to give me income for college. Being from the single household, I couldn’t get involved in extracurricular activities, organization, and
I cannot provide for the needy if I too am in need. Both the undergrad and graduate schooling I will need are expensive and I worry about being able to afford it. This worry is an even bigger concern as education funding is being cut and federal loan forgiveness programs may disappear by the time I would need them. I hope to receive this scholarship so I may pursue my dream of becoming a physical therapist and help many people reach a better quality of
This scholarship will be immensely useful to me and my family. The only income revived to aid my family is from my mother’s income because my father is incarcerated. I have eight other siblings and seven of them are younger than me. My only older sibling will also be beginning college this year. With my mother nurturing nine children she will not be able to help my sister and me with college finance.
I am currently a dual enrollment student enrolled at Hudson High School. With the opportunities that dual enrollment gives me, I hope to walk across the graduation stage with both my associates degree and high school diploma. After graduating high school, I will work on a master’s degree in computer hardware engineering. My university of preference would USF because of their excellent engineering programs as well as the proximity to Tampa. If I feel a need for it, I may pursue certification in actuarial science either during school or after graduation. Besides English, the other classes I am taking are Introduction into Chemistry, Intro into Public Speaking and Pre-Calculus. Pursuing and advancing my career is one of the most important things
