The book I Was Here by Gayle Forman had a divergent set of genres that kept me and would keep you hooked and reading all day. This is why I would most definitely recommend this romance, mystery, tragic, yet interesting novel to a majority of my friends. To answer the question, “Would you recommend I Was Here to your friend?” the answer would instantly be yes! Why you ask? This book has a variety of genres, going from a depression to a mystery to a romance novel. In my opinion, it is hard to have all these genres while keeping the story well written and interesting, which Gayle Forman succeeded in. The writing of this book felt realistic and definitely took you into the eyes and thinking of a suicidal person. You learn the thoughts of a suicidal person and why people like Meg, Cody’s best friend, would commit suicide. You also learn why these people are so depressed and that there are supports groups like The Final Solution named in the book that actual encourage …show more content…
The book took you on an entertaining journey as Cody and a boy Ben McCallister that Meg had a thing for went to find out why and who talked to Meg helping her commit suicide from The Final Solution chat. “It seems abstract when you’re dealing with people online, but they are still people, and some of them are not nice people, not the kind you ever want to be in a room with. Sometimes you don’t even need to be in the same room for the damage to be done.” This quote stood out to me in the book because of the truth behind it. This part of the book would keep you reading nonstop to find out who helped Meg commit suicide. Some questions you would surely think about are, “Why would someone do something like this?”, “Is it a male or a female?”, “Do they have any kids?” These questions are all answered in sections of the book, some before and after Cody and Ben find out who helped
As Meg begins to grow as a character, she starts to embrace her flaws. Near the end of the book, she realizes that they are what
Hey, I just finished the book called Dork Diaries, Tales from a NOT-SO-Happy Heartbreaker By Rachel Renee Russell. My 5th grade teacher recommended it to me because she thought I should read books that have a little bit of everything that I like in a book, I agreed.
“If a man hasn’t discovered something he will die for, then he hasn’t got a reason to live.” These were famous words of the late Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., spoken June 23, 1963 in Detroit, Michigan.
I’d recommend it because of the way the plot was laid out. It was divided into three separate sections, each having a very unique tone, the first section’s tone was very depressing because of the suicide of Miller, and the depression that James and Sloane fell into, whereas the third section had a partially happy, partially sad tone, because of Sloane and James getting a new, happier relationship, and seeing Sloane and James meet, but have no idea of the importance in one another’s lives. Another reason why I’d recommend it to certain friends is because of the internal conflict. If you don’t read deep enough into the book, you’ll think the conflict is just trying to stay out of the Program, but the internal conflict is the struggle of depression and loss. This conflict is something that many teenagers have to go through, and is very interesting to hear how some did, or didn’t, get through it. Overall, if I know that someone is into sadder books, this is the first recommendation that I will give to anyone who
The cover of this book caught my eye and I wondered what it was. When I saw it I thought to myself and I said I would give this book a chance. I flipped the book over and I started reading a paragraph about the book. It had a lot of details and it was describing the characters very well. A good book for me is one with a
Life Outside the Cubicle by Jen Beck Seymour was such a fantastic read for me that I just couldn’t put it down! I absolutely loved Jen’s story of her finding what truly matters in life to her and her husband Greg. Jen’s life altering change by dropping everything she’s ever known and moving abroad to Costa Rica is inspiring, uplifting, and maybe above all BRAVE!!!
Even though this novel showcased plenty different subjects, I found that the betrayal and dishonesty of the people around Meg were well represented throughout the story. Prior to finding the key, Meg had no idea that her parents had been obscuring their involvement in S.O.M.A. from her.
The novel I was here by Gayle Forman, is a sad beautiful tragic novel. This novel is about a girl name Cody discovering her best friend Meg’s death. Cody is shocked to find out Meg had committed suicide, since she thought they shared everything with each other. Meg’s parents Joe and Sue, asks Cody to go to Meg’s apartment to pack her things. When Cody goes to her apartment, she discovers that she does not know much about Meg. This novel would be recommended for someone who loves mysteries, romance, and adventures.
I picked the book called “Find Me” by Romily Bernard, because my favorite genre of books are mystery. I liked how the cover had a face in the background of it, you could tell it was a girl face because of the hair. The cover also had “Find Me” written all over it, so it made the book stand out a lot. My first impression on the book was that it was going to be a good mystery book just by the cover of it. After I looked at the cover, I read the summary inside of the book and it just grabbed my attention it was really good, well written, and it didn’t spoil the book. I also liked the quotes on the back of the book, I thought that was a cool idea. This book keeps you engaged and wanting to know more.
Thrown into a situation of unprecedented circumstances, Cody is a flickering light in a sea of darkness in Gayle Forman’s novel, I Was Here. After losing her best friend, Meg, to suicide, Cody struggles throughout the novel. But she still shines through with her protective nature, her stubbornness, and even her depression. From the get-go, Cody tries to protect Meg’s family, the Garcias, from any more unnecessary pain. This is seen multiple times throughout the book.
Being There” is a physiological master piece focused on a Sheltered Gardner named Chance, later misheard and changed to Chance Garneier is based in the late 1970s’. When This movie is watched from the general viewpoint it can be enjoyed as a comedic drama, but from a physiological outlook this film shows how the brain works in situations that are caused by perceptual set. Chance a very simple-minded man born and raised as a gardener, and was never taught essentials of life such as to read and write, but rather learned social skills and grammar, from mostly Television and the few people he interacted with at his benefactors estate he worked in Washington D.C. “Sometimes the road less traveled is less traveled for a reason.” (Jerry Seinfeld) Most people don’t know what life will bring or what road they will have to travel until that time comes. George never knew the only way he could save his best friend would be to kill him and Hamlet never knew he would die from being poisoned by my uncle and friend. All the trails and tribulations that you encounter are only to make you better person even if it’s bad. Personally I have been through a lot in 16 years. Some good and some bad but at the end it made me the young last that I am today. Your life experiences only prepare you for the real word. Three life experiences that made me who I am are Death of my uncle, my mom being ill and the switching of
My life has been a crazy roller coaster with many events that have affected my life all in different ways. There have been times where my life has been at its highest peak in the world then it falls down, right into a deep valley. From the time my lovable younger sister came into my life to when my grandpa had a near death experience, I have learned many valuable lessons through the rough times as well as the more happy times. When I was a young girl, my mom had always told me the same thing over and over again. I never really thought about how a few words would have a deep effect on me in a short amount of time.
As a very small child I don’t remember too much, but the things that I do remember were seen through a child’s eyes that has made me the person that I am today and I will always have those memory’s with me until my last breath on this earth. In this essay I intend to show how my childhood and adult life to this point has influenced my life, my journey. By utilizing the adult development theories from this class I also intend on showing how they relate to my Life experiences and where I am today as an Adult student.
This explains the beginning of my life all the way to the end of my life. My life from the beginning was very fun as I grew up living with my mom’s friend and my friend. But there were a lot of fights and I was very hyper back then. I have ADHD so back then when I was little; I was very hyper and wouldn't stop moving around the place. I always was annoying back then and never seemed to get my homework done at school.
