When I think of America, I imagine of a masterpiece. When America was first discovered by Christopher Columbus, it was a blank canvas with native American details on the rim. These details represent how the Native Americans have affected America. Since then, every triumph, failure, rise, and fall that America has had, another part was added. And though this painting was once a blank canvas, it is now a wonderful painting with landmarks from near and wide, full of every color, and includes everything important to modern America.
Opportunity. The blank canvas itself represents all of the possibilities that America had. And it gave the settlers the opportunity to add whatever they wanted to the canvas.
Education is an opportunity that most
On the inside, down deep, America is beautiful. America has always been known as one of the greatest countries, since it was established. For decades, it has been known as the land of the free and home of the
The sole characteristic that defines the United States of America happens to be the unity that stemmed from a plethora of differences. Despite all odds, this country has not yet been reduced to shambles, continuing to survive on the strings that connect the population together. Paintings and other artistic forms prove the ability of this country to unite through the highlighting of tendencies after disastrous occurrences and a national pride that cannot exhibit weakness to other nations.
Throughout American history there have been hundreds of visions for an America that have all been vastly different. America is a forever evolving land that has been home to different dreams and ideas of what it could become. Today there are people with visions of what we can change of this country, and how this place can progress from the current state it is in. What we can find throughout the history of this land is that there are many accounts from a diverse amount of people with different visions. This is even true for the beginning of America. The accounts of John Smith and Christopher Columbus reveal that even at the start of America, there were both contrasts and similarities for an America newly discovered.
When you picture the flag you think of Freedom, Liberty, Allegiance, and how grand America is.
Americans are the stitches that held together Betsy Ross’s flag and continue to hold together the American flag. They are the tears and holes of the Constitution. They are the winds that flow freely in open fields; the waves that crash against the rocks. Americans are the salmon that are not afraid to swim upstream and go against the current. They are the bait that attract and lure other fish in the ocean to the fishing boat. Americans are a spring day with the sun shining down and warming one’s face, the sound of new life, new beginnings, and the smell of freshly cut grass and newly planted flowers. Americans are the sunrise we are guaranteed to see every morning, even after the darkest of nights.
Anna Quindlen provides a statement in her essay “Quilt of A Country” that says, “That’s because [America] was built of bits and pieces that seem discordant.” America’s foundation is a mosh pit of puzzle pieces that fit together in all the wrong ways. Somehow, the picture we have pieced together is more diverse and more beautiful than the picture that was originally intended. Not forgetting though that the puzzle of America, despite the seeming dissonant fit, still fits together. So, America, the complex and discordant masterpiece, forms a label that can describe America has a
There are many different words that make America stand out, but the ones that really stand out to me are adaptability and grit. The word grit represents the events and values that occurred during the age of reason. Also the word adaptability represents present day America.
America is a symbol of hope and future. From immigrants first setting foot on American land to the children sitting in school, hope fills their hearts and a promise of a future fills their minds. America provides hope to my generation. Every day we look out of our windows and see a great nation. We see a great nation that was built and founded on hope and a vision of what it could become. Abraham Lincoln saw what America was and had a hope and a vision of how it could be different. He envisioned America without slavery and with equality to people of all races and nationalities. America has shown us that we also have to work for our hopes and our visions. The colonists had a vision of America and they had to fight for it. We wouldn’t have been
America is a country where individuals are able to find their own niche within their community, to connect with other individuals with common beliefs, and to have an American identity without losing their own roots. One of the reasons why America is what it is today is because of how its history was started and founded. Ever since its discovery, people from different continents such as Africa, Europe, and Asia have immigrated to America for various reasons, allowing America to be ethnically diverse. Throughout the world, cultural diffusion occurs; however, in America, cultural diffusion has been part of the country’s culture since the colonial era. For example, the colonies in America did not only interact with their mother country,
America symbolizes a fresh start, a new beginning of thigns, the future, land opportunities. American also means immigrant, just like the Irish grocer Eady father. American is a mixture, a melt pot of races Irish, French, Native American, African American, it is the future. Being an American means embracing freedom, multi-ethnicity and the future.
When thinking about the word America, an interesting word popped up in my head. It isn’t very easy to describe this word, as it’s unlike any other country. In fact, it is something more outstanding. Even though this country has made some big mistakes in its history, it doesn’t affect the definition it deserves. Americans are a mixed race of people that come from many different countries; sharing the same rights but possessing their own opinion on the idea of a better life for themselves and their families. The ability to connect with each other and cooperate also helps to define the ability to move forward and find new ways to innovate.
Our America is a beautiful country. It has a very diverse culture. Most people who live in America are from overseas, which I personally think is pretty cool. Being the global powerhouse we are, you can always feel a sense of safety and security. The geography here is very vast, too. We have very cold temperatures in the north and hot temperatures in the south. From coast to coast, we are abundant with mountain ranges and great plains. However, I feel there is a large gap for improvement, too.
America is my gift to my future. It helped many people in America and people that live in other continents. Through years, people have fought and died for our country. We can do a lot of things after America won wars. Now many people enter America today.
Race relations in the United States have become even more tense within the past decade as the internet has increased everyones awareness to atrocities which occur across the country. Art however, has always been an outlet for many different individuals to project their feeling and beliefs with no restrictions. Therefore, art throughout history has provided great insight differing worlds and thoughts. It has a way of communicating; telling a story which may be interpreted differently, although always expressing truth or feeling of the artist. America the Beautiful, is no different. The artist expresses his thoughts and beliefs about the past, current and future of racial relations in America based on his experiences as a labeled immigrant.
America was built upon the dreams of many and has many layers to its story. It is a land built upon the “melting pot” theory, where the discovery of new cultures and societies, bringing their own languages, customs, traditions, religions and beliefs, made us who we are today. A country built on the ideals of freedom and liberty. But with any new idea, come the trials and tribulations associated with it. The discovery and creation of the United States of America was not exception to this rule.
