America is a country that has been blessed with success and historically been looked up to for doing the right thing when the world community calls for help. Doing the right thing, honor, decency, strong moral principles are some of the words that are associated with integrity and what people I have taken to overseas think of our country. But the United States has also taken advantage of other countries when they are most vulnerable. When third world economies falter, the lure of moving here is quite tempting. The United States also imports lots of cheap goods from clothing factories from Bangladesh, who has workers being paid minimal wages. Since it has so hard to make a good living many nations like China and India are losing their best graduate
America is a wonderful place to live, because we are free. Freedom is important, and many people in other countries do not have much freedom. I am glad I have a place like this to grow up in; where I know that I can be equal with other races and other genders. Also, I am glad I have a place like this that will respect me and I know it will be a great place to have my children grow up in.
America is a selfish country that thinks that they are beyond others and everyone's out to get them. They are inhospitable to others from another country because they are scared that their jobs might be taken away.
Many people of different kinds of races leave their countries to better themselves and seeing that they are able to do more. Even though America is a land of
Some of the most intelligent and ambitious individuals, who are unsatisfied with their own countries, bring their skills to America. Few countries offer the limitless opportunities that the United States offers. You can start your own business, learn a high-tech career, become a movie star, publish a best-selling novel, or be elected to office. People in other countries crave the same things we do: recognition, wealth, fame, and the feeling of making a difference. America offers endless ways for a "nobody" to become great. Many countries of the world limit educational opportunities, stifle entrepreneurship, and prevent individuals from reaping the rewards of their hard work. Consequently, such individuals often come to America. In fact, our nation was founded by English and other European citizens that risked their lives to sail across the ocean to an unknown future. America can't help but become better from the influence of such people.
Why would America want a bad image, as a people and as a country? Some would believe that the U.S. is trying to flex its muscles to show its power. (Richman) However, many would agree that America doesn’t have the money or men to keep this up for much longer. The U.S. is in debt and the average American is now poorer than the average Canadian. That doesn't say much, does it? "The U.S. government is now responsible for more than a third of all the government debt in the entire world." (Snyder) Why can't America just let other countries take care of themselves and be more independent?
In the Journal called “Foreign Affairs”, with the Article called “It’s hard to make it in America: How the United States Stopped Being the Land of Opportunity” by Lane Kenworthy there are a lot of points that I strongly agree with.
America is a superior nation that for a long time has been considered a refuge for those affected by war, as well as a land of job opportunities, education for all, and freedom. Several people enter the United States every day. They leave
David Brooks states in “The Nation of Futurity” that people who migrant to the United States have different perspectives of this abundant and innovative country; they think America is losing the status of the world’s leading economic nation to China. The first settlers saw how potential and resourceful America was and believed this land would bring out immense energy in people who wanted an opportunity for a better life. Not to mention, American energy and workaholism were powerful human resources and have been well-known for years. Although this may be true, Chinese people believe that their country is replacing America as the world’s greatest country because production, innovations, and exports are no longer the focuses of US economy. Also,
America is a very proud country full of spirit and determination. I would dare say we have more pride in our country than people from most any other country in the world. The problem is there are people in other countries that try to corrupt and pollute our way of life. We call these people terrorists, but recently we have found out that these people are really immigrants. This country was founded and populated through immigration. What kind of terror can some simple immigrants cause? That is a great question, but when I bring up the words Mafia, Terror attacks, and Drug Cartels people finally wake up and start to take notice. America needs to take an isolationist stance with the rest of the world. In doing this we will show
America is the land of the free and is a place for opportunities. All these people want are opportunities to be successful and support themselves and their
As early as the 1930s when America joined the World War, and maybe even before then, we as a nation have believed that we are the best in the world at virtually everything. American “greatness” can be seen in several different facets of the American culture. Such as, in our education system, which is 36th out of 65 countries and was below the OECD average ( Ryan, Julia; The Atlantic). Or, in our “melting pot” mindset, with news such as Donald Trump’s executive order on immigration (Lopez, German; Vex) and basically America’s entire history with African Americans. Even more, in our healthcare, which is one of the most expensive with the least effective insurance policies in the world . In sum, we have become one of the most hypocrisy ridden countries in the world, and ladies and gentlemen, I have found the solution. We should follow the example and ideas of our new great leader, and deport every single one of America’s “worst” citizens back to their original countries.
America is at the brink of becoming a third world country and anyone can see how it is through the American economy. Many Americans have low income jobs or are unemployed, and businesses are leaving the U.S. to continue their operations overseas (Roberts). The economy is a main foundation of America and if it is not doing well then the country as a whole is prosperous.
America seems like a promise land for foreigners. We are called “the land of opportunity” and “the land of the free”. Tim Roemer, an American ambassador of India have worked with Indians and see their viewpoint of America. In his article “America Remains the World’s Beacon of Success”, Roemer expresses that “I learned that America is still deeply admired around the world and the place where
We are encountering problems that we started long ago and it's up to the American people to bring a change. Ehrenreich reminds us, “In the eighties, US companies began outsourcing the manufacturing of everything from garments to steel, leaving whole cities to die” (609). By outsourcing we are leaving people, towns and even cities out of business. If you take a main factory out of a town the whole town will likely crash. It's a chain reaction. Zakaria declares, “We are now living through the third great power shift of the modern era. It could be called The Rise of the Rest” (612). The concept is that as we are staying moderately the same while other countries are springing to higher levels all around us. Why is this happening? It’s because
The last way that America is most affected by the “rise of the rest” is through our worldly participation. “In a globalized world, almost all problems spill over borders.” (Zakaria, 34). On a frequent basis America tends to interfere with many global issues. With that we spend lots of money we may not currently have. I don’t think that’s a wise choice of America, but Zakaria states “When the United States involves itself abroad; it always believes that it is genuinely trying to help other countries better themselves” (Zakaria, 35). America does have good intentions but needs to face the reality that every issue can’t also become ours. Now with other countries rising we can allow them to step in a fill that gap America can no longer tend to.
