Animal testing wates hundreds of millions of dollars and it is ineffective. Animal testing should not be allowed because animal testing has never really worked. Humans and animals have different genetics and adult stem cell research is more effective than animal testing. To start with, animal testing has never really worked. Animal tested drugs have killed, disabled, or harmed millions of people and lead to costly delays as well. One well know delay was polio vaccine which was held up for over three million decades before humans could use it. Also, 90% of medications approved for humans use after animal testing later proved ineffective or harmful to humans. Next, The only way to efficiently discover cures and create vaccines is
To begin with, why is it done? Animal testing is done to protect humans from bad products that may hurt them, also to find ways to cure diseases that haven’t been cure yet. 95 percent of mice and rats are used for research. Mice represented the largest increase in research with their numbers going from 1.2 million to nearly 1.9 million in that period. Other animals also saw increases (Qtd animal experiment up to 73 percent, study says). Other animals that are used in research are rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, farm animals, fish, and insects, and also less than one percent cats, and dog’s area also used for research. Another reason is to treat injuries and learn more about the animal bodies to find the similarity to the human body (qtd. animal research). Animal testing is inhumane when testing to protect humans. Some people say testing on animals are life changing experiments and with the help of animal experiment can discover blood transfusion, kidney dialysis, and gene therapy for example cystic fibrosis and types of cancer( Coster 7). Others think experimenting on animal is cruel and they suffer a lot. It is true
Question: What if people were kept in captivity, forced to eat certain things, and get skin injections on a weekly basis? People do not deserve to be treated that way, neither do animals. Scientists are treating animals cruelly due to drug and cosmetic testing. Animal testing is wrong because it is harmful to animals, expensive, and not always accurate.
My first reason is that animal testing harms animals. Over 100 million animals each year are burned, crippled, poisoned, and abused. That means 100 million animals torchered just to see if medicine works. Although, some people say that it's the only way to test if medicine works they are wrong. Scientists can use robots, machines, and volunteers to see if medicine works. Animal testing is harmful to animals should not be used.
Somewhere, in the United States, an animal is in terror. It cowers fearfully as scientists hold it down, and a doctor grips a massive, sharp needle next to its neck, ready to inject the animal with a lethal dose of a new, experimental drug. The animal is one of 26 million other creatures facing the same, painful, fate annually (The Hasting Center). Animal testing is the downfall of humanity, a practice of humans testing chemicals, drugs, and cosmetics on animals. Animal testing is an atrocity that is an unnecessary and dangerous ordeal to the subjects being tested on. The fact that it is cruel, is highly inaccurate, and that there are many other ways to achieve the results being pursued all
After all, the FDA and the pharmaceutical industry prove that animal testing in drugs used by humans is unreliable. According to the FDA, 92% of drugs tested fail to meet the standards for human use. Animals do not share the same body system or physiological responses as humans, so why test these medication drugs on them? The National Anti-Vivisection Society states that it can be dangerous to apply animal-derived data to humans. Drugs that may be effective in animals may not be safe or effective in humans and vice versa. There are many examples where medications that worked on animals have proven to be dangerous to humans’ health. For example, the antibiotic, penicillin, was ineffective at treating infected rabbits and was toxic to guinea
Imagine a cold dark room with cages lined against the walls. The living creatures echo throughout the building as if the entrapped animals are able to sense their fate. Lying on a table are several rabbits strapped down with tiny cups attached to their bellies. These rabbits go through an enormous amount of pain due to the fact that they are not given painkillers of any sort. Sadly, these animals are being used for scientific experimentation. It is a debate that has taken place for several years and it continues to be an ongoing battle. Do animals have rights and is animal testing wrong. In 1824 The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in England was formed and since then there
If rabbits could speak, they would probably tell you to stop supporting many of your favorite companies. Even your most trusted household brands, such as Maybelline, Arm & Hammer, Listerine, and even Lysol contribute to the millions of innocent animals subjected to cruel and wasteful product testing every year. These and many other widely popular brands implement animal testing during the production, modification, and design of their products. This testing is extremely dangerous to animals and in some cases humans as well. In spite of this, products American citizens use on a daily basis come from companies that test their products on animals and the consumers of these products are virtually blind to the evils that lie behind them. Animal testing is immoral and should be abolished because it tortures innocent creatures, is an ineffective method of testing a product, and is far more expensive than the alternatives that exist.
testing are utilized on a daily basis, therefore making it harder to win over the support of the
Did you know animal testing is really bad for animals? People burn, poison and shock helpless animals everyday just so they can collect a tiny bit of data. Why would people waste their time everyday abusing animals? We need to stop this kind of research because animals are getting brutally hurt, it is happening illegally and is often unregulated, and also most animal testing is ineffective on humans.
There has been a lot of animal testing in the United States and thousands of animals already have been killed. In research and testing, animals are subjected to experiments that can include everything from testing new drugs, poisoning for toxicity testing, burning skin, causing brain damage, implanting electrodes into the brain, maiming, blinding, and other painful and invasive procedures. Animal testing should not be allowed to proceed because millions of animals are getting killed, the results aren't always right, and it is more expensive to test it on animals.
Every year, ten to one hundred million animals are tested on. Rats and mice were two-thirds of that total. In addition to that there are one hundred and eighty thousand dogs, fifty five thousand cats, five hundred thousand rabbits, a similar number of guinea pigs, and sixty thousand primates. With these numbers why still test on animals? Animal testing needs to stop. It is wrong. These animals are dying from neglect and harsh conditions. Animal testing is not even one hundred percent accurate! People have talked about the pain and the conditions they had lived in during the breeding experiments during World War Two. Again, why is animal testing still a thing?
A quote from an experimenter showed his view on animal testing “Because the animals are like us.” Experimenters were asked why it is ok to test animals the answer would be “Because the animals are not like us.”
According to the BBC “2.73 million experiments in the months of 2002”(). The issue of animal testing affects the animals being tested on and could affect citizens too. I disagree with animal testing because it hurts the animals being tested on and there are alternatives to it, for example in vitro testing. This issue is important because if animals go extinct then the animals that help our environment will all die, and then we will have to put in more work and more money to clean up or fix it. I would like animal testing to be banned or more strict. Examples of this would be changing the Animal Welfare Act, make the inspectors be more strict on violations, or ban animal testing.
The very first reason why animal testing should be banned is elementary: it is cruel and unnecessary. Approximately 17-22 million animals are used for testing each year in the United States. Substances are injected into the animal, chemicals are force-fed, irritants are rubbed into the eyes and
Animal tests are more expensive than different methods. They also waste government money. Cancer study can cost two-to-four million dollars, but animal research spends fourteen billion of its thirty one billion dollars annual budget on research for animals. Normal study test on illnesses cost a lot of money, but it still is lower than what animal testing cost. Animals testing cost a lot and most of the time test fail, so it just wasted billions of dollars that could of helped someone or something that would have made a good effect. Also sixteen billion dollars of taxpayers money is spent on animal testing. The government is wasting their money on testing, but so is American citizens. If testing has to be done, the tester should pay,
