Why Is Cheating Bad

In the non-fiction book, The Cheating Culture: Why More Americans Are Doing Wrong to Get Ahead by David Callahan the author criticizes the economic world. In the beginning parts of Callahan’s work, he specifically pin-point when cheating started to become an uncommon factor is succeeding. He reflects on as far back as Greek and Romans who were fined for cheating. In every decade there was a new factor to cheat in as the author highlights many cheating ordeals exposed through-out Americas history.

Competition among individuals comes in a variety of forms: for mates, for resources, and for prestige and recognition. Such competitive pressure can lead individuals to engage in unethical behavior in an effort to get ahead. There are several forms of cheating in which individuals may engage to improve their own outcome: they may lie about their own performance in a task and they may lie about others ' performance in a task (Rigdon, M. L., & D 'Esterre, A. P., 2015, p.1).

In life we all aspire to do the greater good. We want the best for family, friends, society, and ourselves. The actions we create and do will either have a negative or positive ripple effect. Cheating is seen as something negative and frowned upon. In terms of creating the most positivity and goodness around us, it can be used in the right way. Cheating has the potential to do the greater good. Cheating can produce positive ripple effects, and in such matter should be acceptable and used. Cheating is only acceptable if a positive outcome becomes of it.

Cheating The premise of our group’s research was the cheating experiment conducted in Predictably Irrational by Dan Ariely. The experiment consisted of testing honesty at the Harvard Business School. It was there that he tested four conditions. The conditions were as follows: control, self-check, self-check + shredding, and self-check + shredding + money jar.

Many high school students think cheating is the right thing to do. They think is the easiest way and that’s how people are where they are. The solution for students would be they rather get out of school and work where they are going to be hired easily. What should college professor do if they see that a high school student that just graduated is cheating.? In my opinion, I think professors should make the student re-take the test even though they cannot really do that or there could be a better
