On November 14, 2015, Cheez-Its were banned for the rest of the year in the school cafeteria. A table of 8th graders weren’t paying attention to who was around them, which happened to be the principal. They were throwing a whole box of Cheez-Its across the cafeteria, attempting to start a food fight. It started as a small problem, but after 2 minutes, the whole middle school was throwing food around. It was getting out of control. The principal attempted to bring an end to the chaos, but he had no success. Soon, all of the teachers entered the cafeteria to assist the principal. Nobody could stop the mess, so the students kept throwing Cheez-Its. They weren’t aware of what was coming next. “If this goes on any longer, the whole school will have
It was not unhealthy or overly healthy it was a balanced meal you’ll probably see at home. I ate it with no complaint. The National school lunch program can get pretty annoying with the acts they pass out for health regulations. The reduce the lunch’s price or even make it free for the hungry students who can’t afford a quality meal at home. Obviously if you're not eating quality food at home the school lunch programs have to feed you healthy food to keep you developing. If they serve you bad food filled with preservative products that can mess you up. It can give you diseases such as Type 2 Diabetes, Cancer, and possibly a Heart Attack. Make healthy cheeseburgers with less oil and fat. The bread shouldn’t be a hundred percent grain. Nobody likes grain bread, and if you want to disguise the healthy food, then don’t make it look too healthy. For the beverage I totally agree that all schools should serve dairy such as milk. That would keep the students bones strong and growing. I am against serving soda, maybe only one day of the week like I listed above. Soda causes stunted growth and tooth decay. It can be dangerous for the students. before the 2010 act schools used to sell baked chips. That is not really bad even though it’s not a hundred percent healthy, but it is somewhat better than actual chips students buy at a
Travis Luett Mrs. Grahm American Writings 2 December 2016 School Lunches Are Gross Have you ever taken a bit in your school lunch and just want to spit it all back out? Or how about the little portions you get? These types of school lunches should not be allowed to be given to the students because there are many reasons why school lunches are bad for health reasons. Although the school lunches are supposed to be healthier and better for our well-being, school lunches should change because it’s not very appetizing, there are little portions, and there isn’t any difference in the health level before.
Have you ever thought why you’re school lunch looks so disgusting? Have you ever thought what it’s actually made of? Or why doesn’t this look like the way I ate it at home? For some schools, lunches lack in many different categories from visual pleasure to taste. If the school lunches taste so bad, why don’t we try another way to make them better. For a school in Greeley, Colorado, they’re doing just that. They’re firing up their stoves and are ready to get the ball rolling. There are many reasons on why the school is taking such a huge step backwards. Like, the routine of buying reheated foods and serving them without hesitation. The schools budget cuts or the kitchen being too old and small for the process of preparing such foods. As well as, the list of ingredients that do not need to be in the foods and the risks of diseases/bacteria in the reheated lunches.
It is essential for the government to continue to regulate the food in our school systems. In the article, “The Extraordinary Science of Addictive Junk Food,” Michael Moss shows how the food industry is targeting children in school systems. “A potato chip that tastes great and qualifies for the Clinton-A. H. A. alliance for school...We think we have ways to do all of this on a potato chip, and imagine getting that product into schools, where children can have this product and grow up with it and feel good about eating it” (Moss 488-489). This is a prime example of how the food industry is circumventing regulations already in effect. The children of the United States of America are being zeroed in on by companies finding a loophole, instead of protecting the children, by using
High school students in the public school system would benefit greatly if given open campus lunch options. High school administrators across the United States debate the ethics of open campus lunches. School lunch policies vary from school to school in the public school system. Having an open campus lunch gives
Cheez-Its are no longer allowed in the Cafeteria. There were some kids that thought it would be funny to start a food fight with Cheez-Its. Before we knew it, we were all picking teams so that we could make it a team effort. When we got done picking teams, we all grabbed handfuls of the crackers and started chunking them. Then one kid came up with the idea of throwing them like frisbees’ so that they would fly further.
Should Vending Machines be Turned off during the School Day? Many schools nowadays turn off their vending machines during the school day to prevent students from eating fattening foods. In California and Hawaii, state legislators are very close to passing a law that would ban any drinks excluding milk, water or juice from being sold in elementary schools, and reduce the hours older students can use the vending machines. Michelle Obama and the Obama Administration have asked Congress to improve children's nutrition by getting rid of school vending machines that provide students with sugary snacks and drinks. The problem with this is school’s are making an extravagant amount of money off feeding their students with artificial flavoring and
Schools do a “good” job in promoting certain healthy foods in their cafeterias. Yes, students do not enjoy eating them but it is for their good. The fact that schools sell the “baked” chips is a good and a bad idea. It is a good idea because they are healthier than the regular chips sold in grocery stores and smaller than regular sizes. The bad part comes to the fact that they are still being sold and most students prefer to purchase them instead of fruits. In my case, I know I would prefer to eat those chips instead of the fruits. Vending machines are rarely seen in schools but the schools that do have them do not have healthy items inside. Sodas and junk snacks are what are mostly seen in those vending machines along with others. Students
School cafeterias have been notoriously known for having unhealthy, unappealing food. Students at schools are being forced to eat these foods, when parents cannot provide regular lunches for their children. These lunches usually include the following: pizza, soda, cheeseburgers, chicken sandwiches, and others, all filled with artificial ingredients and preservatives. To address this problem, there should be a switch between the foods and drinks being served, and I have just the ideas that will be delicious and healthy. Authors Alice Waters, Katrina Heron, and Mark Bittman all agree that some initiative needs to be taken to fix this unhealthy food problem, and so do I. Together, the student body and parents will address the school board with healthier food options that are better tasting and better for the body.
Students are posting their anger over the program using Twitter at “#ThanksMichelle.” this shows that half of the people think we would keep the lunch and it's delicious , but half think that is awful , nasty, and not healthy for us.
The reason why Cheez-Its are not allowed in the cafeteria at school is because people were throwing the around everywhere. They were taking them into the cafeteria and start throwing them around and throwing them at the other kids and then started to throw some at the teachers that were
Kids have a right to eat nutritious food that is healthy and fresh. For example, due to the lack of fresh and flavorful food many students choose to buy cheap junk food. The lack of freshness in foods result to kid’s health deteriorating. For instance, twenty-two children became ill Thursday after having lunch at a San Diego elementary school cafeteria, officials confirmed (Garske, Powell). Now, what is this? Kids getting sick from school food? We can’t have kids’ health being endangered just because schools can’t afford fresh food. The school is who takes care of kids and they are
Students are taking it to social media to demonstrate against the meal rules lobbied by First lady Michelle Obama. Lunches include tiny portions, mushy and unrecognizable menu items, a lettuce-and-cheese sandwich and chicken nuggets void of any chicken. School nutrition directors say the rules have proven to be costly and restrictive. House Republicans are making a final push this month to give schools a temporary break from the meal standards. School lunches have never been known for being appetizing — but these ones are particularly disgusting. Students across America are taking it to social media to demonstrate against the school meal rules championed by First Lady Michelle Obama. They're using the sarcastic hashtag 'Thanks, Michelle Obama'
If snacks are brought into the classroom the teacher needs to check his health plan to see if they are approved, or call the parents to see if they are ok for Logan to have.
