Why Is College Important To Me

Education is always a famous topic for students to talk about, they should understand deeply that how education is playing a big role in their life. Allan Bloom claims that " Education is the movement from darkness to light." In other words he is saying that education is the key to opening a better future. He tries to indicate that education is very important in human society, and attending college is even more necessary for everyone, especially for young people. This college education is critical to gain knowledge, to have a better job and achieve a higher standard of living.

College is important to me because it is the key that will open my future to many possibilities, which can lead to success. By not having a college degree it will limit my options of careers. Neither of my parents have a college degree nor I have had to work harder to survive in this country. Since I will be the first to attend college in my family, I am excited how this will benefit my whole family.

Why is college so important? Why would anyone want or need to spend so much time or more money than they could ever afford to receive a piece of paper saying they attended college for the last four years of there life and that they are somehow more important than the ones who didn’t? Why be in debt for countless years after graduation, having to spend a large portion of your valuable life paying off your loans and whatever the university in which you attended consumed from you? Is the education you’re getting out of everything all worth it? Crazy as it may seem, the answer is simple. Yes.

Many people find themselves questioning the importance of a college education. They ask themselves, “Why is College important to me?” One answer is extremely crucial in todays economy. In order to succeed and have little or no struggle financially, you must have a education that will end up being a career of your choice. Not just something that you have to settle for.

Attending college for the first time is an important, rewarding decision that I made for a good reason. I learned a lot about myself that will help me in my future. Setting goals, having expectations, and reflecting why I am in college is incredible to think about.

A college degree is important for a variety of reasons for both the young and the old, namely to develop or improve one’s trade skills, to experience different cultures and to increase one’s educational background in order to attain a higher paying job. For me, a college degree is important because it will help me to attain the educational background I need to make myself more marketable in the ever changing workforce. It will also provide me with the confidence and skills needed to apply for a better paying job or aid me in attaining the ever elusive promotion, if I so desire.

Continuing my education has been a goal of mine for some time, but I haven’t made the commitment until now. There are several reason why I chose to return to school after so long, the primary reason being advancement opportunities in my career. My other motivating factor is my daughter. I am looking forward to the knowledge I will gain and the ability to implement that knowledge into my everyday life.

Many times I walk into work and see job vacancies posted in the break room. Every time I look under qualifications I see in bold letters, MUST HAVE DEGREE. My co-workers often say "hey, are you applying for the position?" and in return I would answer "I'm not qualified, I don't have the degree." My children tell me all the time "wow mom, you are so smart", usually it's when they need help with homework or they want to go outside. I tell my children all the time to study and make good grades in school so they can go off to college, buy their big houses and fancy cars.
