I think Commander Strathmore is a misguided patriot. He is actually trying very hard to protect NSA’s mission being public to the whole world. He is always doing what he should have done. By send David to find if Tankado has left any sign of password after he died. He tries very hard, and he would pay any price, in order to find the pass code for the Digital Fortress. I think from the point view of American government I would think his actions and intentions were noble because he put a lot efforts to defend American government’s reputation.
He had told the 150 men that he would not shoot them if they disobeyed him or refused to fight. The reason for this is because most of the people that were in that group were actually from Maine similar to Chamberlain. He knew that in a way it would be against what loyalty means if he killed them. He didn't want to shoot people that came from the same place as him and who decided to fight just like him. He stays loyal to his country, his state, his brother and to his men that he had been commanding. I would also say that he carried out his duty to his country. Throughout his years of service he acquired the rank of Lieutenant Colonel of the 20th Maine Volunteer Infantry Regiment. He also displayed selfless service, integrity and personal courage. These values are all relatively similar in that they all have something to do with the way that one would carry themselves and their beliefs. Judging from the way he treated the men he was in charge of showed us that he would've done anything in his power to defend them and fight right next to
Would you have quit? This question goes through the heads of each soldier that continues to fight for their independence. After two years of the revolution, the Congress created an army led by General George Washington. The withdraw from Boston and the retreat to New York City, however, made the Congress lose their trust towards Washington. Due to them believing whether or not he was leading the country to a victory or a grand retreat.
In United States Military, particularly the Army, all soldiers both men and women, take an oath to protect and defend the United States Constitution. However, there is one soldier named Bowe Bergdahl who thought that it would be okay to just leave his post, without letting his squad know where he was going, and thus creating a controversy that has rocked the political environment in Washington D.C. After listening to the Serial Podcast by Sarah Koneig and hearing all the interviews from political leaders, former squad mates, and even reporters, it is fair to come to the conclusion that Bowe Bergdahl deserves to be charged with Desertion and Misbehaving before the enemy. In this essay, I am going to briefly explain why Bergdahl deserves to
In the words of Vice Admiral James Bond Stockdale, USN, “integrity consists of knowing one’s situation through education and thus understanding the limit of your responsibility.” Stockdale, a former Vietnam P.O.W., writes the importance of integrity in “The World of Epictetus.” In September of 1965, Commander Stockdale ejected from his plane only to be captured by the Vietcong during the Vietnam War. In eight years of captivity, the Northern Vietnamese tortured and isolated Stockdale; and in that time, he observed the actions of his men. He witnessed honorable, high-ranking officers cave into their oppressors, while common soldiers refuted any luxuries offered. Stockdale did not solely witness actions, but integrity; how a man acts when
“Let me die in this old uniform which i fought my battles. May god forgive me for ever having put on another.” Said Benedict arnold, a very famous patriot in the revolutionary war. Some get famous for doing extraordinary things in life while Benedict was famous for a the wrong things he has done. America knew him as the biggest traitor in history when he went from being a well know patriot on the american side to switching to the british side and fighting against his former soldiers.
Sir Gawain and the Green Knight and Beowulf share several similar qualities. Each story suggests that honor, truth, and heroism are the most important a person can exhibit, though in each tale these are manifested in different ways. Both characters, in attempts to keep these values, make mistakes that endanger their lives.
Beowulf is an epic poem passed down from generations during the Anglo-Saxon era of the British empire. It tells the story of a brave warrior who overcomes great obstacles including a serial killer and his mother and even a dragon. The greatest obstacle that Beowulf faces is that of proving himself as noble. Merriam Webster has two interesting definitions for the word noble: “possessing outstanding qualities” and “possessing, characterized by, or arising from superiority of mind or character or of ideals or morals”. Which is interesting because Beowulf is noble in the sense of possessing outstanding qualities. The Beowulf poet commentates his opinion on the Anglo-Saxon warrior culture all-the-while distributing evidence to prove that Beowulf,
The Boy Knight by G.A. Henty is an exciting tale following the travels of Cuthbert de Lance, a young page aspiring to be a knight who journeys on the crusades to win his spurs. Along the way he grows to be a man and climatically saves his country. He performs many different feats, from reconciling the forest outlaws and an earl to rescuing a princess to arranging for the ransom of a king. Through it all, he remains chivalrous, courageous, sensible, and loyal, resulting in a grateful King Richard bestowing upon him the knighthood he’s always dreamed after.
The United States Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) was founded in 1930, and today, “operates one of the largest health care delivery systems in the nation, with 168 medical centers and more than 1,000 outpatient facilities organized into regional networks” (GAO, 2017). The VA employs nearly 350,000 people at its facilities and serves approximately 9 million veterans each year (VA, 2017).

In Henry IV, Part One Shakespeare revels in the opportunity to suggest the idiosyncracy of character through his command of a wide range of both verse and prose. As a result the play is full of rich and different character parts (Wells 141). Two in particular, Falstaff and Hotspur, hold diverse beliefs concerning the main theme of the drama, honor. In Shakespeare’s time, honor was defined as the special virtues which distinguish those of the nobility in the exercise of their vocation–gallantry in combat with a worthy foe, adherence to the accepted code of arms, and individual loyalty to friends, family, and comrades in arms (Prior 14). Throughout the play, honor plays an important role in
After September 11th, Americans looked to the government for protection and reassurance. However, they did not expect to find out thirteen years later that the government did this by using technology to spy on Americans, as well as other countries. George W. Bush began the policy shortly after the terrorist attack and Barack Obama continued it. There have been many confrontations over the years about the extent of the N.S.A.’s spying; however, the most recent whistle-blower, Edward Snowden, leaked information that caused much upset throughout America (EFF). It has also brought many people to question: is he a hero or a traitor?
Edward Snowden is considered by many to be a criminal, but there are others who firmly believe that Edward Snowden is a patriot, and rightfully so Edward Snowden is a hero to the American people and many abroad. The United States government has the responsibility to serve, protect and aid the American people, but sometimes the government and some of its classified documents every now and then get published and criticized. Edward Snowden had worked for multiple government agencies such as the CIA, NSA and prior to that an American contractor as a computer professional, and during his tenure at the NSA he had realized the grotesque and unprofessional ethics and violations of privacy against the American people, and so many innocent citizens
The authors belief is that these are steps to help identify and create culturally sensitive classrooms and become members of an ever changing society. This statement connects to an impression left within many school systems that First Nation students are educated in;
