She gave him everything, and she believed in him. She risked everything for him, believing he was the one for her, but he hurt her and rejected her love. He had not capability of truly loving, ever being remorseful and without self-control. He did not appreciate her; walked all over her, and probably thought he could do better, “Throw your soul through every open door” “Count your blessings to find what you look for.” I do not see it as they were in a relationship. I think he strung her along and played with her, enjoyed toying with and controlling her. He has finally gone too far and she is done, “Finally I can see you crystal clear” “Go ahead and sell me out and I’ll lay your ship bare.” But, he left her with scars with memories of him. She was very much in love with him. She knows they could have had it all. It causes her pain to the point of not being able to breathe. But the tide is turning, she is not sad anymore; she is becoming angry. At one point in the song she sings, "There is a fire starting in my heart, reaching a fever pitch, bringing me out of the dark.” Her anger is allowing her to open up her eyes and see the reality of the relationship. Now, she wants revenge. She wants him to suffer like he made her suffer. He broke her heart, but she knows that in the end he did not just break her heart. He broke his heart too. She knows that if she leaves, he will see her and see that they could have had future of fidelity and joy.
There was not a single song on the album that did not come to life and cause all of us to relate to every emotion within their songs. When listening to “Go Your Own Way” one hears the lyrics, “Loving you isn't the right thing to do. / How can I ever change things that I feel? / If I could baby I'd give you my world. / How can I when you won't take it from me? / You can go your own way, go your own way.” These lyrics capture your soul. They speak of the pain that accompanies the demise of a relationship. On the other hand, “Don’t Stop” provokes feelings of hope and optimism instead of wallowing in the past. The entire playlist of Rumors causes lovers to reflect upon their own past heartbreak and relate. The album’s ability to make that kind impression on a person’s heart makes it phenomenal. We all desire to be able to relate to others and to feel understood. Once we make that connection, it remains with us always.
One of Jay–Z’s most iconic songs from the album The Blueprint is “Song Cry”– in which he chronicles the beginning and ending of a serious relationship. Rather than focus on trying to fix the relationship or put all the blame on the other person involved like most breakup songs, “Song Cry” allows Jay-Z to accept the tragic end and reflect on his own mistakes that lead to it. In a way, “Song Cry” allows him to admit to being responsible for the lasting pain of a failed relationship while at the same time catering to his pride by deflecting his own emotions. Levitin supports this idea on page 177: “ We write them to encode lessons that we’ve learned and don’t want to forget, often using metaphor or devices to raise the message up to the level

Britney Spears once said, “My life was too much under the control of too many people and that did not allow me to be myself. When you’re not in control you’re less excited, less passionate.” She acknowledged the fact that her life was controlled by others, and finally decided to take it into her own hands. Britney Spears is a social outcast that believes in expressing one’s true self by doing what he or she pleases, regardless of the attention it draws.

What does Paris by The Chainsmokers, Say Something by A Great Big World, and Here Comes Goodbye by Rascal Flatts all have in common? They are break-up songs. Each in their own way, all of these songs are about pain and sadness caused by break-ups.Some of these songs are meant to cause an already sad person to cope with their sadness by pushing them farther into “The Abyss”. Credibility is a very important thing for a person to have. A person that has credibility is a person who you can trust and believer in. You can have credibility for different things. All of the songs on this album relay different messages to listeners. Most songs contain a lot of pathos, call to action and more. Pathos is really prominent in certain songs such as Sorry, Formation, and Freedom. An excerpt from Sorry says: “Now you want to say you 're sorry/Now you want to call me crying/Now you gotta see me wildin '/Now I 'm the one that 's lying/And I don 't feel bad about it/It 's exactly what you get.” This displays the emotions after getting out of a relationship or during the struggles of it. Other lyrics from this song that display this
Every song can make one feel the emotion of the song. Depending on the song whether it is “Before He Cheats” or “Just A Dream” will show different emotions. In the song “Before He Cheats,” “I took a Louisville Slugger to both headlights, a hole in all 4 tires… Maybe next time he'll think before he cheats.” This emotion you can say is anger, she is also heartbroken but past the crying and sad part of it but to the point of anger and hatred. This song can really get you pumped up and hating all the cheaters in the world. In the song “Just A Dream” her emotion starts out somewhat happy, “It was two weeks after the day she turned eighteen, All dressed in white, Going to the church that night, She had his box of letters in the passenger seat, Sixpence in a shoe,
I shouldn’t have been acting like a spoiled little girl and cried my heart out for a party. I never realized how much it hurt my mom to not give me what I wanted. I had learned that I can’t be mad at my own mom for not giving me what I want. I knew that she would’ve given me the party of my dream if she had money. There will always be obstacles in life that will get in the way of what you want. It’s the small things that count in
“Somewhere On A Beach” by Dierks Bentley, “No Such Thing As A Broken Heart” by Old Dominion, and “Drinking Problem” by Midland.
