Imagine at this moment seeing a loved one walking out those doors, perhaps the last time, and later in the day finding out he/she has been in a brutal shooting accompanied with other civilians. People having to think if there’s a way to stop the violence that is happening in the society and there is a way, but it is not enforced. Gun control is needed in this society, because civilians are living in fear wondering if it will be the last time being in this world and having the presence of gun control can reduce crime such as gun trafficking, mass shootings, and homicides.
Gun regulation has been a controversial topic since they were first established as a weapon. People for and against gun regulation provide strong arguments for their side. Gun regulation has fluctuated over time due to changes in office. Being a democracy prevents us from having consistency. As a nation we continue to change regulations on guns because of the different views our democracy allows us to have. The main aspects pose the most problems in gun control are violence, illegal sale of guns, and mental health checks.
When I think of a gun that looks amazing usually has a nice blue finish to the metal. That is not the only type of finish there is, but what is the reason behind finishing. When I thought about it before the only thought that came to mind is, to help protect the gun along with the price of the gun would go up. Everyone is looking to make a dollar somehow. If not only with a time but also with skills. I think that’s about all we all could give.
I believe that we have a right to have guns. It is an amendment and also a right to have then. They were trying to take that from us and we did not stand for it. I think that we all should keep our guns and weapons because it solves nothing.
In Connecticut on December 14, 2012 twenty year old Adam Lanza opened fire at Sandy Hook elementary school and fatally shot 20 children who were between the ages of six and seven. After fatally shooting the children he turned the gun upon himself and released the trigger. The attorney’s office concluded that Lanza acted alone and there was no provided indication as to why he did it or why he choose that school. Some Americans believe that the Preamble to the Constitution is most compelling for Americans today because it allowed Americans to insure domestic tranquility is taking place, such as gun control. Gun control is the set of laws that regulate the sale and use of firearms by civilians.
The topic I chose to talk about is a controversial topic in today’s society and that is gun control. The reason why I find this topic so important is because it is a topic that everyone is talking about from the news to social media even famous celebrities have taken sides on this. People always ask will gun control work and the answer is no. The three main topics everyone brings up in debates are; Guns are the main cause of death in America, Guns are easy to obtain anywhere in America, and Guns do not kill people, people kill people. When it comes to death by guns in America it does not even make the top ten reasons of death in America. The major cause of death ,stated by Medical News Today, is heart disease. Well one might say, “well that
In the issue of gun control I stand myself in a positive standard. For some people the way I think, for them, could be negative. Every Single person has their own opinion about gun control, and I have mine also and here it is. I think gun control has being a big issue, for the United States. It’s being an issue because of the entire massacre that has being so many deaths. And yes I think we should still have the second amendment of the bill of rights, which is the right to bear arms. But I also believe that every single person who owns a gun should be register as when they sell a gun.
There are many reasons why need gun control, but the most important reason is that it will make America a safer place to live. Wouldn’t it be great to know that you live in a nation where there are strict gun control laws? If there are less firearms it will lessen the chance of law abiding citizens to become easy targets. Strict gun control will help keep firearms out of the hands of wrongdoers, such as felons and convicts who are out on
Imaging this, in a Hollywood movie, a policeman is holding a pistol to against criminals. A gunfight is about to happen, offenders also hold firearms with them, who are sometimes even more well-equipped than the policemen. In real life, most criminals rob banks, kidnapping and commit a crime with arms. Policemen use guns for protecting, but criminals, who are surely comes from the public, use them to show their power. Back to many years ago, due to the ambiguity of amendment, the law, in the US, gives the right for American citizens to own guns. There is no doubt that a pistol helps an officer against those crimes, while whether citizens should be allowed to have the right to carry guns not, is worth to be discussed.
One of the main topics that has been sweeping the nation has to do with the Second Amendment to the Constitution, the right to bear arms. Due to the most recent shooting in Las Vegas, many American citizens have been switching their views towards strengthening the gun control laws. Gun control laws need to be strengthened in order to strengthen the overall protection from misuse of guns within the nation.
Gun control is necessary in order to keep guns out of the hands of people who will not use them for the right purposes.
In society today, there are many casualties from gun violence cases which are very big social problem. There was shooting in Las Vegas on OCT. 2017 which killed more than 50 people and more than 500 people were injured because of gun violence. Also, there was another mass shooting in Orlando at nightclub by “radical Islamic terrorism” which killed 50 people and lead more than 53 casualties (Brander). Admittedly, some people claimed that they should have the right to ‘self-defense’ which allows possession of guns; however, in modern society there is a host of issues stemming gun violence that threat people’s safety, so gun control should be stricter.
The Second Amendment protects people’s right to have an armed local militia and bear personal fire arms. The interpretation of this amendment is that the people could own a gun, during the times the constitution was written, so the locals could defend themselves if a civil war ever came to be. But in these modern times, with the major military and police force this country has, why are locals allowed guns without any regulations? Many republican legislators do not believe in restrictions to arming the people. They are influenced by constitutionalists, who along the NRA (National Rifle Association), “believe that gun laws actually make communities less safe by disarming the good guys. Post-Newtown, this was reflected in the NRA's central proposal, which was to put armed guards in schools and to give teachers gun training. And they reject any gun safety measure, no matter how small, as a Second Amendment violation” (Bennet, 5). Not only are they implementing the image of guns on educational grounds, they are also arming teachers in class rooms with children.
On September 5th, 2017 a deranged man by the name of Devin Kelley charged into a church and killed 25 people including an infant. Devin then was shot at by a law abiding man who stepped onto his porch with his legal gun, and opened fire upon Devin, who then fled until he was chased down by another gun carrying man until Devin ended his own life. Had many of the people been carrying their own handguns in the church they may have been able to open fire on Devin themselves and kill him or make him flee before all 26 people died. Although the government does need to tighten down on their background checks, guns should remain legal: they are an equalizer, guns don’t kill people, people kill people, and making guns illegal will not stop people from obtaining them from previous historical events.
Typically, Texas is always a state that believes in the separation of powers, state pride, and gun rights. Texas residents have the right to open carry their licensed weapons but some did not find this was enough, the legislature went a step further to permit concealed guns on state colleges and universities too. On August 1, 2016, Texas Governor Greg Abbott made guns on campus with concealed carry legal. Since there was so much opposition to the law, it took a few legislative sessions for it to pass. This new law sparked a new discussion nationwide, does having guns on campus make the environment safer or more dangerous than before? Certain security measures such as background checks, age minimums, and restrictions on convicted felons and high-level misdemeanors or people with mental illnesses are in effect, it can be argued that these are not sufficient in ensuring that concealed-carry on campuses is a safe practice.
A shooting here; a shooting there; a consistent day to day event heard all over the mass media. Regardless of whether the shootings are intentional or unintentional; they are occurring all over the United States. In today’s society, gun control is essential; stricter federal laws must be enacted to save lives. Individual states’ laws are not sufficient to reduce deaths caused by guns.
