The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) has recently attacked. How and Why? These are all questions that the public still wants to know. ISIS is a jihadist terror group that was established after the fall of Al Qaeda and the death of their leader Osama Bin Ladin. The reason why ISIS' foundation is still spreading is because their followers want "revenge" on those who have tarnished the Islamic religion. ISIS' end goal is to separate the Western and Eastern parts of the world, and even though we pride ourselves on the belief that we are all equal many people want this to happen. And ISIS takes those people to help them achieve this goal.
The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, also known as Isis, terror group has been an important issue in the United States for the past couple of years. After the recall of troops from Iraq, radical Islamist movements started to begin and Isis was formed. The first issue of Isis is they have grown in numbers over the years. Secondly, Isis controls thousands of square miles of ungoverned territory. Their high supply of troops and land allows them to creatively think of major attacks, including attacks on the U.S. Lastly, when people see the attacks from Isis, some people naturally gravitate towards these groups. Two months after 9/11 attacks Osama Bin Laden said “When people see a strong horse and a weak horse, by nature, they will like the strong horse.” Isis will continue to grow in power if countries do not come together to help totally eliminate them.
On September 11, 2001 , the United States was attacked under the influence of Osama Bin Laden. Ever since these attacks took place the United States increased their security measures on who and what enters into the country to protect its grounds. The actions of Bin Laden came from a terrorist group named Al Qaeda. Al Qaeda was a terrorist group whose founder was Bin Laden. Al Qaeda led to evolution of Isis which is an insurgency and not a terrorist group. The evolution of Isis came from a book named Defense of Muslim Lands. Within this book the were the common beliefs and obligations to becoming a jihad. The key beliefs consisted of “ A Jihad is a personal obligation, Muslims have been humiliated by the hands of impure Regimes and western
In the CNN library of, “ISIS Fast Facts” CNN shares the story of ISIS the group known for killing dozens of people in the public by executions, beheading or brutal acts. Not accepting the loss of their jobs many anger without a job established al Qaeda in Iraq to wage against U.S. A. In the process to establish an Islamic caliphate, or state across the region. Most of the world has their own religious beliefs, some believe there is one God, and others believe there are many. There are also people who believe that their religion is the right religion, that believe they are doing what the religious text “says” to be. For that reason, there are believers who will do anything to show people the right way, even if it means ending someone’s life. Those believers are known as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, also to be known as ISIS, a Salafi jihadist militant group that follows an Islamic, fundamentalist, Wahhabi doctrine of Sunni Islam. (Michaels) For many years ISIS has been a national threat, killing many innocent people around the world. What is their main reasoning for attacking? What will the
Experts and historians have different opinions on what ISIS has done and why. Or what they may be leading up to. Some historians say that they’re leading up to war that will happen between ISIS and a Roman army. They get these clues from different prophecies that were made about ISIS and the Middle East. Others say that ISIS is it leading up to nothing. Then there are some who think think that several world powers will come together and stop ISIS... No one knows for sure, but to most, it seems to be a battle of what ISIS believes versus what the rest of
Every day, as I turn on the news, I sigh in despair. The world is a total mess; innocent civilians being bombed, slavery, and poverty still evident in many countries. Why the world is so corrupt- in 2014, is beyond me. I try to avoid headlines about the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) but the ever-growing presence of their existence has amplified so much that it cannot be ignored. ISIS is a militant terrorist group that has struck fear into the hearts of many Iraqi’s. Through the use of violence, mass rape, and propaganda, ISIS has conquered much of Iraq and Syria. The objectives of ISIS are to establish an Islamic caliphate in the Middle East. I can’t get it through my head why people would do this, especially if it would backfire on them in the long run. By making their acts of terror known to the world, they only provoke international awareness. They absolutely will not last without end in the hands of the U.S army, whom they have mocked and threatened in the past.
The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant otherwise known as ISIS is a transnational Sunni insurgent group led by Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. This group has been established since 2003 and has it’s origins in the Iraq war which lasted until 2011. In March of 2011 conflict has been raging in Syria. 15 schoolchildren were arrested and repeatedly tortured after writing anti-government graffiti on a wall.*Similar to the Holocaust* This eventually led to a civil war between the government and rebel groups, which wanted the president to step down. After 4 peaceful protesters were killed after the government army opened fire. Afterwards, during the funeral of the protestors the government opened fire and killed one other person. This eventually led to a
Since American troops left Iraq, ISIS “has waged an increasingly powerful terrorist-guerilla campaign against the Shi’ite population and the central Iraqi government” (“The Historical Roots and Stages in the Development of ISIS”). The withdrawal of the American forces from Iraq in 2011 created a security vacuum in the military, allowing ISIS to gather strength and rebuild its terrorist campaign against Iraqi government and the Shi’ite population. They wanted to create civil war between the Sunnis and the Shi’ites (two Islamic groups). By doing this, they could establish their own Islamic group into all of Iraq. ISIS then instituted many attacks (including suicide bombings) to apply pressure to these groups.
2. Isis is an Iraqi terrorist group who is trying to gain more control over the war torn country. The group has “a reputation for brutal rule in the areas that it controls”(CNN). Many innocent civilians have been killed due to the inhumane acts that this group has committed. They have been named “the most cash-rich militant group in the world”(CNN).
Think about it, you’re walking down the street or just sitting at your favorite place to eat. Then the next thing you know half the street is blown up and you’re either dead, injured, or the person next to is. This is what the people of Paris felt like the day ISIS sent suicide bombers to blow up the city. ISIS first started as a group that broke off from al-Qaeda. In 2014, ISIS controlled more than 34,000 square miles in Syria and Iraq, from the Mediterranean coast to south of Baghdad. ISIS believes they are part of a prophecy written 14 hundred years ago and that they are a key part of an apocalypse that is to come. Their goal is to create an Islamic state called the Caliphate across Iraq, Syria and other places across the Middle East. ISIS has became a global threat and we Americans need to do our part. Now let's talk about what they
Many theories and explanations explaining the actions and existence of ISIS, and how it might be overcome in order to ensure the safety and security of countries worldwide. Two competing theories – realism and constructivism – give us much to consider about how we understand and react current events and future ones: “How a state manages those opportunities and obligations depends on its definition of the threat, its understanding of the players involved, and its assumptions about capabilities and responses both at home and abroad. In other words, a state must make a decision to balance the hard facts of realism with the potential of a more liberal foreign policy.” (Buros, 2011). Another thing to consider is the rest of the community: “How a state responds to that threat relies on basic assumptions made regarding the threat, capabilities of themselves and their allies, and the willingness of the international community to acquiesce to perceived aggression.” (ibid). Generally put, the proclaimed Islamic State (ISIS or ISIL) flourished with instability and a weak government in Iraq. With previous ties to Al Qaeda, its involvement in fighting against Bashar al-Assad and capture of land in Iraq and Syria, coupled with extreme violent methods and rhetoric gave the region enough to be concerned about. How this occurred can be explained a few ways.
Some believe that ISIS was formed from Al Qaeda which splinted off the organization because of different beliefs due to the Iraqi Baathist regime’s defeat during Saddam Hussein’s time frame. One that thing that is understood is that Abu Musab al Zarqawi caused a conflict with extremism when he was killed in 2006 destroying years of economic sanctions creating an opening for a new group to unleash its power. ISIS took this time to upgrade after the sectarian civil war. During this time Al Qaeda was trying to exploit the Sunni and Shia regime by conducting attacks on the Shia. Due to Al Qaeda’s goal, they failed to list to Bin Laden and Zawahiri to target western population. ISIS was able to use the Sunni people to facilitate approach to increase ideologies. ISIS has been able to win popularity of the Sunni created a center of gravity in Mosul,
Before all of that, the people of Iraq killed a lot of Isis. Isis stands for Islamic state in Iraq and Syria. I really don’t think they are islam, because I heard that in the Islamic book it says don’t kill innocent people.
Why: There is no one definite explanation or why these attacks took place, but there are several theories. One of these theories is that ISIS wants to counter all the territorial losses they are facing in the Middle East by assault nations overseas, or they are showing their power and ruthlessness to discourage more attacks against them.
ISIS is a very dangerous terrorist group changing peoples lives all around the world. They kidnap people from different countries and threaten countries for money and weponds. ISIS gets most of there money from theft by robbing banks and selling oil. They get most of there equipment from the U.S. by stealing them. ISIS is not a state but they have there own flag and have claimed land on the Syria and Iraq border. ISIS is one of the biggest terrorist groups in the world because of the Syrian war and the weak government combination. That is why ISIS is the most well-funded terrorist group in the world and why they are so dangerous and
