SUBJECT: Reasons to use whiteout Whiteout can be a useful tool when completing forms or items using an ink pen. Whiteout can allow errors to be corrected more legibly so that what was written can be more easily interpreted by whoever is reading the document. Whiteout also allows corrections to look more professional, which lends more credibility to whatever was completed. However, there are times in which the use of whiteout is inappropriate and could lead to negative consequences. In the end, it is an important tool for those who use ink pens, as long as the tool is used correctly.

The alternative solution to using whiteout to block out the error would be to either scratch out the information and attempt to write above the error or to attempt to correct the error by writing over it to clarify what a letter should have been. The two alternative solutions can both decrease legibility which could harm the credibility of whatever was recorded. Another consequence of poor legibility would be that when even when it was reviewed by the original writer later, they may not be sure what they had originally meant. Whiteout makes corrections, to an error made in ink, look more professional and preserve credibility while making it easier to read. Humans make errors and the risk in using a permanent form of recording information is that when mistakes happen, they cannot be changed. Whiteout is a tool that allows the error to be covered and the correction written on top of it. It creates a more practical solution of editing a written document so that it can still be read and remain written in a method of more professional and long-term
Within this excerpt, Shannon Sullivan argues that habits go a long way in instilling the concept of how white people uphold white privilege in ways that they repress people of color by refusing to recognize that they are contributing and benefiting from white domination. She argues that the unconscious racism of white privilege equals to the conscious racism of white supremacy. Sullivan shows that whites claim that it is their ignorance that causes them to appear to be racist. They lack knowledge in people of colors’ interest, value, culture and the biological basis for racial categories. She states that those perceived with racists mindsets believe that if they are given more accurate information about the lives, worlds, and values of people
I think this tool is a great for assisting in writing assignment or any type of writing. It scanned the assignment quickly and showed me all the errors that need to be corrected within a few seconds. Setting up an account and using it was quick and very simple. I did not encounter any problems. I used internet explorer to set up my account but had to use Chrome to sign in and to actually use the tool. The installation and functionality of the tool were a breeze, and I would most definitely use it in the future.
After experiencing these materials, how did your understanding of what it means to be "white" change?
Within the two articles there are some significant similarities that have an impacted on the social work system. The first similarity to be discussed is whiteness. Whiteness is a “complex social process that maintains the dominant and/or majority group’s power within social service organization and prevents anti-racist workers from changing today’s societal and institutional arraignments.” (Baskin, 2005). This is stating that the whites control the work either allowing or permitting of anti-racist practices from altering society. This is true by reflecting back on the colonization of aboriginal communities. The institutionalization the dominant group tried to implement on the communities was an act of on the prevention of anti-racist practices.
Rather than merely examining the affects of racism on people of color, the book turns its attention to whiteness and how a system of white privilege, supported and perpetuated by whites, also damages whites by inhibiting them from making meaningful connections with other human beings. Until I almost reached the end of this book I was uncomfortable and disturbed by the way the book made me feel. As a white male, I am aware of the pain that my ancestors have created for others to advance the free world. I have pain for those who suffered and disagree with actions that were taken by my white predecessors. But I believed that we are now in a much more advanced world where we have chosen the first black president and equality was a focus of most Americans. Identifying with my culture as currently being a white supremacist society is something I have never considered, or would not want to consider. In Neuliep, within the Coudon and Yousef’s Value orientations, we perceive the human nature orientation within the United States with people being essentially rational. This term, rational, can be somewhat subjective. And if we continue with the same value system, and look from ‘the self’ values, we foster our self-identities from the influence of our culture’s values. If we are to reflect truthfully to how our country evolved and what we ‘had to do’ to create our freedom by limiting the freedom of other, how would we then perceive
Working Towards Whiteness is about immigrants who are coming to the United States during the twentieth century and struggling to become white. This is because America has this identity of being white and the new immigrants are facing the problem of fitting in based on their race and class. The states have applied restriction so that they can preserve the population to be more white. In Roediger historical studies he brings these practices to light and his goals to draw attention to the biased white supremacist policy of the government in the regulations of immigration. Roediger most evident strength would be that he has the adaptation of the “in-between” status of the new immigrants coming in, which they are neither accepted as white neither can they be able to identify themselves as their pre-existing background.
The role of this article was to prove the fact that “whiteness” is a social construct and not a racial identity, which, in her own opinion, needs to be demolished. Expanding on this point, the author states it to be designed for the creation of a superior social group and how membership to this social superior group wasn’t based on skin color, but on social status instead. Additionally, she also states that due to the fact that “whiteness” is a social construct, its ideals are also bound to change over time as well, which is demonstrated in this case , through the example of the Irish being initially excluded from the idea of whiteness in the early 20th century. Here, she elaborates further on how the Irish later became incorporated into this “superior social group” to prevent the low-wage Irish and African-Americans from forming an economic bloc and to also slow down the economic competitiveness of African-American

Should the color of one’s skin subject them to a higher level of scrutiny from law enforcement? This is a very controversial topic in today’s society and leaves many confused. There are many arguments from all sides, some saying that this practice has helped catch many criminals and that people would not have to worry if they are not doing anything wrong. Others deny it all together and say that racial profiling simply does not exist and police officers are just trying to do their job. These arguments are both wrong. Not only does racial profiling exist, but it is wrong and only serves to create fear where there should be a sense of safety. This gross practice still persists today throughout all levels of encounters from ordinary traffic
In this paper “The Pink Facebook rogue application and survey scam presents” G. Cluley [1] the results of an investigation into tools to support blind authors in the formation and checking of word processed documents. Eighty-nine documents produced by 14 blind authors are analyzed to determine and classify common types of layout and formatting errors. Based on the survey result two archetype tools were developed to support blind authors in the creation of documents: a letter creation wizard, which is used earlier than the document is produced; and a format/layout checker that detects errors and presents them to the author later than the document has been created.
Whiteness can be defined as an interdisciplinary arena that is focused on what proponents describe as the cultural, historical and sociological aspects of people identified as white, and the social construction of whiteness as an ideology tied to social status. According to Richard Dyer in his article “White” he defines it as “trying to think about the representation of whiteness as an ethnic category in mainstream film is difficult, partly because white power secures its dominance by seeming not to be anything in particular, but also because, when whiteness qua whiteness does come into focus, it is often revealed as emptiness, absence, denial or even a kind of death (Dyer 44). Whiteness is simply in itself is a word that is categorized by and through social status and invisible to a white person’s eye. Richard dyer connects the idea of whiteness to race within media creating some sort of theoretical double blind. Meaning that is it a necessity to study racial representations in movies because due to the white power. As well as looking at non-dominant groups has had the effect of reproducing the sense of oddness, differentness, exceptionality of these groups and the feeling that they are departures from the norm. Meanwhile the norm has carried on as if it’s the natural, inevitable, ordinary way of being human (Dyer 44).
After reading, Acting White (Fryer, 2006) my point of view has been changed and I have became more aware of the acting white phenomenon. I realized that it is a larger issue than I considered it to be. This issue is very important to me because I am Hispanic and Hispanics fall under the same situation that other minorities are struggling with.
“The essence of propaganda consists in winning people over to an idea so sincerely, so vitally, that in the end they succumb to it utterly and can never escape site from it” wrote Joseph Goebbel; a statement that Hitler strongly agreed with (Trueman). When Nazi Germany came to power in 1933, Goebbel was a master propagandist of the “Nazi regime and dictator of its cultural life for 12 years”. With Goebbles as a propaganda leader, Germany was able to develop an organized propaganda designed to to manipulate “ a cynic, devoid of inner devotions” and “ orchestrate a pseudo religious cult” (“Joseph Goebbels”). Subliminal propaganda proved to be a more valuable weapon than artillery and man power combined. Propaganda played a key part in every nation 's war effort; though, none were as efficacious as Nazi Germany. Germany knew the power that could be harnessed from propaganda and carefully cultivated, and molded their message to become one of the most dangerous countries in the world.
Technology is a helpful tool for teaching the writing process, and Marchisan and Alber (2001) concluded that writers can be taught to write using the writing process approach paired with tools of technology, direct instruction, and committed well-trained teachers. Graham, (2008), Graham & and Perin (2007a), and Rogers & and Graham, (2008), agreed that technology makes the process of writing easier and often provides very specific types of support. Word processing provides at least four advantages: (a) revisions are easily made, (b) publishing is professional-looking, (c) typing provides an easier means for children with fine motor skill challenges to produce text, and (d) word-processing programs have software programs, such as spell and stylistic checkers designed to reduce specific types of miscues. Other tools are speech synthesis (i.e., the writer’s spoken words are transcribed to electronic text) and word-prediction programs (i.e., the computer program reduces the key strokes by predicting the writer’s next word). This is helpful for students with difficulties with spelling and the mechanics of writing. In addition, outlining and semantic mapping software can aide with the planning process, and the use of computer networks and the Internet can help to promote communication and collaboration among writers.
The Roman Republic faced two great social upheavals. These two upheavals are known as the Struggle of the Orders and the civil war of the late republic. According to dictionary.com, social upheaval is defined as “strong or violent change or disturbance, as in a society” These social upheavals had a huge impact on Rome’s government as well as the citizens.
