John F. Kennedy was our 35th president in 1963, but he was the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate before he was our president. Unfortunately a man named Lee Harvey Oswald assassinated him on November 22, 1963, in Dealey Plaza in Dallas, Texas.

Lee Harvey was a former U.S. Marine and later defected to the Soviet Union for a period of time. He returned to America with a family, and eventually bought firearms. When he heard that the president was coming into town he thought it was a good idea to shoot him. He worked on the sixth floor of his building and there was a window looking directly towards where John F. Kennedy was going to drive by. The day that John F. Kennedy was coming he snuck in his rifle, and stacked up a lot of boxes, so nobody could see him. There were three shots fired the first one hit Governor John B. Connally and the second and third hit John F. Kennedy. When this aired all over the news the country was very sad, I remember see a news anchore crying over the loss of his president. When this happened the country came to a halt and gathered around the television watching, and mourning over the loss of Kennedy. …show more content…

Tippit, who Oswald then shot and killed. Oswald was later found and apprehended by the police at the Texas Theater, located the Dallas suburb of Oak Cliff. On November 24, 1963, Oswald, while being taken to the county jail, was shot and killed by Jack Ruby. The country was happy to hear that Oswald had been assassinated by Jack Ruby, but ruby still went to jail for murdering Lee Harvey
