Knowledge is Power. Though this statement is often quoted, I believe that it will still be quoted for generations to come. Knowledge empowers one towards opportunity and growth, and I firmly believe that one who trusts in it will not fail in life. Experience and excellent pedagogy are the two ways through which one can amass it. So to be competent in any field, I think both experience and education play indispensable roles and I have been fortunate enough to get the best of both worlds. In my Under-graduation, I realized that the immense field of technology could be thoroughly explored only with a strong foundation and the obvious choice was to major in EEE, which was a mix of electronics, computer science and technology. To be cognizant of modern technology and the art of management, I made it a point to elect courses like, managerial economics and financial analysis, Management science and C programming. These courses strengthened my basics and laid a very strong foundation in these fields while providing me with a background on the nuances of business technology. Choosing a myriad list of courses along with persistent hard work I could score above 80% in all of them. Being chosen to represent all my project teams and my participation in organizing college events had taught me to be a better team player with the ability to step up as a leader. I had also interned at NTPC to familiarize myself with a professional environment and this engendered a confidence in me.
Throughout my high school career, I have been involved in various clubs and organizations to help me become a leader in my community. At Auburn High School I took on the role of being a Publicist officer for National Technical Honors Society the first two consecutive years that it became a part of our school. I gained a lot of leadership experience through this club. Implementing a new organization is never easy and takes a lot of hard work and dedication from the leaders of the club. By being a part of a very helpful, dedicated and motivated team, we helped affiliate all the eligible members into the club and in turn helped introduce this new club to the school. As publicist my role in helping the club grow was crucial; I helped in publicizing the clubs various projects and involvement.
So far, I have altered how meetings are conducted from last year so that the student administration has more control of communicating ideas to the members. Later in the year, I plan to incorporate additional volunteer opportunities and I want to have more group conversations with the members to hear their ideas and try to merge those ideas into positive changes that can be made. This leadership opportunity is starkly different from that of coordinating a 5k. Being the president of NHS has given me additional exposure to public speaking skills, decision making skills, proper ways to conduct meetings, and ways to present myself professionally. Despite their differences, these leadership opportunities have helped me advance myself in my journey to accomplish my goals. The skills I gained and refined from these opportunities will undoubtedly assist me when trying to procure grants, build connections, and become a research team leader.
I also learnt that I fared as a leader where I initiates meetings for the group to discuss on the project. I am also participative, shared responsibilities where I did all assigned task on time and remarkably.
Knowledge and being educated is something that will help anyone be successful that’s a proven fact when you
Throughout my high school years, I gave myself many opportunities and challenges to demonstrate my worth as a leader. Of all these positions, the one I take pride in the most would be taking the lead role of directing a non-profit ACT organization. Together with my classmate, we had founded the organization to which I took charge of after he left to attend college. During my role as president of the ACT organization, my responsibilities included tutoring, finding teachers, organizing sign ups, as well as procuring space to hold classes.
The strengths that I, Evia Neuman, have acquired and will bring to the Marion High School’s NHS program are the characteristics of scholarship, leadership, character, and service. I am currently in the 11th grade and have maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.8. During my high school career I have participated in volleyball, grades 9th-11th, basketball, and sideline cheer both in 9th grade. While on these teams I have learned what it means to be a team to strategize with other people to come up with a solution that works in the end. As captain of the volleyball team in 10th grade I learned how to be more of a leader. However when I was not a captain doesn’t mean I didn’t still try to lead and keep the team up to persevere through obstacles.
This quote has always been inspiring in my life. I believe learning is not limited to just the classroom but takes places through out our life. Right education not only enhances personal development and social inclusion, but also increases competitiveness.
I learned how to organize school wide events, delegate tasks to my fellow members, and lifelong leadership
By having wisdom, it shows that the society has an understanding in their field of production. The more skills that the individual obtains, the higher chance he or she will have in pursuing their occupation. Education can help in numerous ways. However, what task does the individual have to reveal that education can't? For example, what durability's and flaws does he or she have? How does the individual work under urgency, does he or she perform well as a team? Correspondingly, does he or she love the task that they are doing? Only with experience can help the person understand the career path that they want to pursue. Furthermore, employers want employees to comprehend how the industry works and have the background experience that education cannot show
I have participated in several Tech summer camps as a counselor, served as a First Year Experience Mentor for the Honors College, and worked as a Front-End Lead at Market Street. I believe each of these activities has impacted my leadership development and allowed me to practice my skills in different ways, but overall, they have allowed me to grow as a leader that attempts to create a plan of action with the well-being of the team being the top priority and taking into account individual personalities and strengths to accomplish a task. I also use a diverse set of activities to provide service to the Lubbock and Texas Tech community. This mainly includes spending time at the Lubbock Impact Free Clinic and being a volunteer counselor for Foundation Retreat, a Christian based camp for incoming freshman students. I was so fortunate to have these opportunities to serve my community and make a difference in someone else's
According to John Quincy Adams “ If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and becoming more, you are a leader.” Throughout my years in Mater Academy East, I have always strive to get the best grades possible. While inspiring others to do the same. I have been a member of The Cat Network for a year. The Cat Network is a non-profit corporation that is dedicated to save animals from the wrong hands. This non-profit corporation has taught me a lot about the importance of communication, helping out the community, and working in a team environment. I plan to use all my experience to Inspire and help students to achieve their goals.
Future Business Leaders of America is a fast organization that has taught me a lot about leadership. I have held the office as secretary for our FBLA chapter for two years, and held the position as annual reporter the previous year. Myself and two other individuals created a community service project to raise money and awareness for Cystic Fibrosis; we competed at the state conference in Topeka, Kansas and received first place which qualified us to compete at the national level last summer in Atlanta, Georgia. It was an experience that I will never forget. I have also been a dedicated member of FFA for four years, I have held the position as Class vice president for three years, and I have been a member of National Honor Society for two years. National Honor Society is a service club that gives to the community and school. Service has taught me compassion and understanding. I trust that service is contagious. When people help others it can cause a chain reaction; one good deed leads to another. I enjoy helping others and realizing that I have made a positive impact on an individual’s
After the Rose State performance I was called back to join the elite team. Being apart of the older program has taught me a lot about etiquette, manners, leadership, and more. We get new kids every year and every year the older ones would graduate and go off to college. Now that I’m one the oldest in the program I am now the role model to many of them. I choose to mentor them and teach them that I’ve been right there where they are. Being a leader not a follower will get them to where they need to be in life.
I never thought being chosen as captain, for my high school robotics team, would make me more responsible and learn to rely on others. The experience of leading a team, changed not only how interact with people, but also how I handle stressful situations. Becoming the captain of the team taught me that I need to take not only responsibility of my actions, but the actions of those who I lead, how to be a proper leader, and when a stressful or difficult situation comes up how one should weather the storm.
For instance, as a three-season athlete, I understand the importance of commitment to a project for maximum results. Also, my experience working in athletic teams has made me flourish in leadership and group work. Likewise, as a student Desk Attendant at the Dickinson Waidner-Spahr Library, I received a promotion to a position as Student Supervisor due to my attentiveness while on the job.
