Some may say that human nature is just instinct ,but according to dictionary.com human nature is the psychological and social qualities that characterize humankind, especially in contrast with other living things. In a society you need three of the many things to make it well functioning. Those three things are law, effective communication and respect. The reason for this is because in a society law is needed to let people know what they are not aloud to do and it keeps you in check and from having everyone do what they want without consequence. As well as effective communication because that way everyone knows each others point of views and way of thinking. Then people can work together instead of trying all to do it their way and everything collapsing at the end. Lastly respect because without that there would be crime, respect is what makes something have value because if you lack respect for someone why would you care what they think. Those are my three reason for a society to be working well. …show more content…
Although critics may argue that law is flawed because laws can be broken by people, laws help keep people in check and from doing what is wrong because there are consequences to those actions. Even though laws can be broken there are things like jail or prison sentences that can take many years and even fines of thousands of dollars which prevent people from wanting to break the law. Without laws everyone could do as they please without and negative outcome of themselves. An example of having no law would be in the novel lord of the flies. In this novel everyone starts to try making their own group ,but at the end they end up killing each other as without thinking anything wrong of it. What this shows is that without law, people even kids can get out of control because they had nothing to remind them that it was wrong to kill another human
Without law for society, it would be terrible. There have to be rules and regulations. People would most like go wild and crazy. If we did not have laws, people would tend to run red lights, walk across the streets when they should not, steal or kill and get away with it. We definitely have to have rules and this is why there are laws placed on society.
would be the result of not having laws? The world without law would be complete chaos. The majority of the people would say that we need laws. In order to keep everyone and everything safe, laws need to be set in place.
Human nature can be defined as characteristics, feelings, or traits that of all humans share. Human characteristics and traits can differ from personal cultural background and or by the community that you are surrounded in. The significance of your community and culture is that it can be of importance since it could affect you negatively or positively. Human nature is by origin naturally good but is corrupted gradually or abruptly by the community or religion. Individuals from society and society itself can immensely make an impact on people.
In the beginning, there were no laws to dictate to man what he could or could not do. Man simply did as he wanted. But as time passed and the strong started taking advantage of the weak, people came to the decision that life would be much safer and better if there were laws to protect them. Therefore, the need for laws and justice came about only for the sole purpose
Rules and laws are necessary in order to maintain a civilized society because absence of law provides an open opportunity to go against the general foundation of the society. It goes against one's own conscience. The fear of punishment is absent which contributes to the growing confidence of the wrongdoer that he or she can get away with anything. This disturbs the balance of our civilized society encouraging more and more people to take on this habit. For example, in Lord of the Flies there are no adults on the island at all, so Jack feels that he can do whatever he wants without the fear of any consequences.
The purpose of law is to define behavior and conduct that is acceptable in a society. “Obedience of the law is demanded; not asked as a favor,”(1) was said by Theodore Rosevelt in regards to how important the law is to a country. This is to ensure that people of a society are living in a place where they are free of fear, and able to reside in peace. Crime can be found throughout that world and is an unfortunate part of society, which must be dealt with in order to prevent the demise of law and order in a society. Martin Luther King Jr. said “Law and order exist for the purpose of establishing justice and when they fail in this purpose they
Fulton J. Sheen once said, “Nothing ever happens in the world that does not happen first inside human hearts.” Human nature is the general psychological characteristics, feelings, and behavioral traits of humankind. Everyone has different experiences with the humans they encounter in their lives this is where disputes begin. Human nature is a rich and decisively defining source of inherited, human potential. Humans are given a clean slate when they enter this world but what they experience in life carves them into the person they become, such as one who breaks the rules, one who displays extreme behaviors, or one who leans toward evil.
Imagine if someone you loved was shot. You call the cops, but they say that there is nothing that can be done because there are no laws saying they have to punish the criminal. If there were no laws, criminal could get away with crimes like that repeatedly without any punishment. This is a prime example of why laws are needed to keep society in order. The idea of rules in society has been around since King Hammurabi created the first set of laws in 1760 B.C. Egyptian civilizations created laws so that their society would last longer than other civilizations because people would respect their morals. William Golding, the author of Lord of the Flies, made a statement about human nature, saying that, “Man produces evil as a bee produces honey.” He had a theory that
Imagine a world without law, surrounded by anarchism and people who can do whatever they please. A world without law would result in a corrupt and unfair society, ruled by the authoritative elite. In the narrative, To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, law is a major theme in society that controls the actions of the people and the destiny’s of the wrongdoers. A world without law is a world of chaos and calamity; therefore, laws are established to keep order and safety in the world that God created.
One of the most important purposes of laws in the world is just to prevent that nothing bad happens to us, for example how a society could survive without traffic driving laws? It is impossible, we need to have rules that shows us the way we have to drive, the signs we need to respect, the light we need to observe, when to stop and when we should pass, and the consequences of breaking the laws.
Human nature, the essence of what makes a human person what they are, is something that everybody has. Every person is innately a person, but how they put their personhood into action is the biggest indicator of their character, or the projection of a person’s human nature. At their core there is human nature, but their actions are what direct this source of humanity. The quality of someone’s actions is shaped by their environment and sometimes their biological makeup as well. Human nature does not have good or evil characteristics. It is how a person thinks and acts that is the true factor in the shaping of their character.
If it was not for the law the world would have caos. Everyone, whether they could admit it or not, would want to have some type of structure, something to abide by. “I submit that an individual who breaks a law that conscience tells him is unjust, and who willingly accepts the penalty of imprisonment in order to arouse the conscience of the community over its injustice, is in reality expressing the highest respect for the law.” Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. (american minister and civil rights activist,
Human nature is what tells us apart from each other and makes us distinctly human. Our nature and understanding is what makes us different from animals and other creations due to our ability to think and reason. No other creature on this earth has that given ability. Our reason gives us the upper hand and allows us to reflect on our nature and behaviors that allows us to make changes and transform. For example, when facing adversity, we have the choice to continue with our struggles or terminate the situation; if we witness someone else’s misfortune, we have the option to follow in their footsteps or avoid making the same mistake. Human nature, gives us the capability to express our emotions, love and connect. It also allows us to display emotions and actions that are not always appropriate like hate, rape, murder and war. Despite our positive sides, as humans we are capable of destruction, competiveness and greed. Although, I strongly feel that a person’s environment and upbringing will shape their life choices, it does not automatically define who they are or
Law is the expression of the will of the society. Its virtue or vice depends on the social conscience at a given time. A bad law is a manifestation of an aberration in a body politic of the conscience of the society.
Law can be defined as the written agreement that a society agrees upon this dictates appropriate and acceptable conduct and behaviour we display toward each other. Law is the foundation of the society it can only work if the society abides by it and work to maintain its existence, this will help solve any problems and crimes.
