Leonardo Da Vinci is one of the most famous artists from the Italian Renaissance. He was not only a painter, but had many talents in sculpting, science, music and architecture. He made amazing scientific discoveries throughout his life, which led to advancements in the field. He is mostly known for his paintings, the Mona Lisa, and The Last Supper. I believe Leonardo Da Vinci compares well to Albert Einstein. Both Da Vinci, and Einstein were very involved in science, and discovered many amazing things. I think Albert Einstein is important because he developed the theory of relativity, and the mass energy equivalence (E=MC^2). Leonardo, like Einstein also studied physics. He used physics to help create many of his inventions. While Leonardo kept private journals, Einstein wrote many scientific essays that showed his studies. He sent these off to many scientists to have an experts opinion on what he theorized. Both of these men studied many interesting, and helpful things that evolved science into what it is now.

Michelangelo contributed many things to our society, especially to us Catholics. He painted to roof of the Sistine chapel, created the ‘Madonna of the steps’ carving, ‘Madonna and child’ carving, ‘angel’ carving, and many more works of art. To name a few from the Sistine chapel, there is the most famous ‘creation of Adam’, ‘the first day of creation’, and ‘ the prophet Jeremiah’. He also helped to create some amazing works of architecture, for example: laurentian library, and saint peter’s church. Without him, we wouldn't have many beautiful works of art!

Along with being successful bankers and rulers of Florence they also produced four popes, one of which, Pope Clemet VII who commission the extremely famous last judgement by Michelangelo for the Sistine Chapel. Michelangelo was a good friend of the Medici’s and lived with the Medici’s for many years. In the beginning Michelangelo’s parents did not want him to become an artist but Lorenzo the Magnificent persuaded his family to allow him to go to the Medici’s academy of art and train to become a sculptor at the age of 15. We know all of this as Vasari wrote pages and pages about Michelangelo. If the Medici’s had not persuaded Michelangelo’s family to allow his to train to become an artist, in my opinion we would be deprived of some of the greatest pieces of art to date. The Medici family were one of the main reasons for the success of art in the Renaissance period in Florence which lead to the transformation of Northern Renaissance and produced artists such as Jan Van Eyck. Therefore in my opinion the success of the Renaissance was hugely impacted by the Medici family and their contribution to commissioning and educating artists and it is for this reason that we have so many pieces of great artwork from this period
