There’s no doubt that spring is a lovely time of year; the temperatures start rising but haven’t become unbearable, while people, animals and plants seem to stir with new life. Of course, this set of conditions also means that the chances of your home or property becoming subject to invasion from wildlife or pests increases; in Alabama, this is when armadillos can more easily hunt for ground insects and worms, which can wreak havoc on your property. This is where the armadillo removal and nuisance wildlife damage control specialists at southeast Alabama’s Critter Getter become essential; they’ve been dealing with these and other animals for over 37 years.
There have been studies performed that demonstrate how cold temperatures will affect those pesky bed bugs. Unfortunately, there is a huge misconception about how cold the temperatures need to be to kill the bed bugs in your home. It is not
The Collaborative Strategy on Bed Bugs was developed by the Federal Bed Bug Workgroup1, to explain the federal role in bed bug control and highlight ways that all levels of government, community, academia and private industry can work together to reduce bed bugs across the United States. Adjusting bed bugs can be very expensive and nearly all communities and states are currently facing issues with enough resources for individual families. The strategy used has four priority areas for bed bug control; Prevention, Surveillance and Integrated Pest Management, Education and Communication, and Research. Each of these areas is critical to national and local efforts, to raise awareness within communities and prevent future outbreaks. (Public Health Systems and Emerging Infections,
At Dog Et Al, in the beginning of June there is always this swarm of bugs that take over the restaurant. I call them the summer bugs. They aren’t there year round, but it seems as if they find a hole and try to takeover the entire building. I know of a few restaurants this happens to. Since I knew it was going to happen, I was prepared for the swarm and was able to protect all the food. While I did put the food where it would be safe (it was only a pan of chips and about fifteen apple pies), I got a coworker to grab a can of Raid that we had to kill the bugs so they couldn’t do any damage. I thought I was very preventative because this could have caused major problems.

Vaccinations are what doctors and scientists count on to protect lives. So should children keep receiving vaccinations? Vaccines are formed by chemicals designed to create “immunity” for the human body. Doctors use vaccines, because they are known to help protect people from infections. Research done by scientists states that vaccines are safe and effective, but the quality of the actual product may not be what people expect them to be. Therefore, people should have a choice whether to have their children vaccinated or not.
As of March 21, 2017, new regulations were placed on transportation networking companies like Lyft and Uber that require the companies follow the same rules and regulations that are placed on taxis. The companies are now required to annually register with the state of Michigan and pay a fee per-vehicle (MLive, 2017). Furthermore, annual vehicle inspections by mechanics and conducted background checks of drivers must be done. While Michigan
What makes people who have different backgrounds succeed or fail? The vast number of immigrants who see America as the promised land and those who were born in the country are driven by the American Dream and share faith in the unwritten definition of the American dream: Those who work hard and abide by the rules have an equal chance of succeeding. People realize the attainment of the American dream through home ownership and doing better than their parents. While some repudiate and abandon such dreams as unattainable in the twenty-first century, Brandon King, a law student at Indiana University who wrote “The American Dream: Dead, Alive, or on Hold?” insists that it still exists and is pursuable. King points out that people who are more careful about their spending and seek secure jobs can achieve their dreams and maintain a middle-class lifestyle. Equally important, many researchers study the American dream concept and how to pursue it. Research proves that the American dream is still alive and achievable when people practice self-development, have the right attitude, work smart instead of work hard.
When it comes to vulnerable populations, children are definitely high on the list. Often these children need a voice or need help finding that voice. Social workers play a large role in bettering the lives of these young individuals.
