Why is there war? Why is there racism? Why must almost all disputes be solved via violence? Why, why, why. It is in human nature to question, and to be curious. As well as abhorring anything that is different from what society defines as “normal”. Society abhors anything unusual. Honestly, many things puzzle me, as well as the rest of the human race for the most part. Whether it be the existence of paranormal entities, which has boggled the world for millennia, or the meaning of life. Some things will remain unanswered, while for some the answer might be closer than humanity thinks. Forrest Gump sums up life in one short quote, “Life is like a box of chocolates.” You don’t know what you’ll get, until you try it. If only humanity could work…show more content…
World War I was started because of the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, although many historians feel that the rivalry between the Great powers (Germany, France, Russia, Austria, and Britain) caused war to break out. The Crusades were fought because Christians wanted to retake the “Holy Land” from Muslims. Among other great tragedies, one of the largest losses of human life in history, the Holocaust in World War II, happened because of Adolf Hitler’s prejudice against Jews. During his rise to power, Adolf Hitler felt that Jews, and specifically Jews, who hadn’t done anything wrong at all, were “sub-human”. The Civil War was fought over this “feeling”, which can be easily described another way, via the term “racism”. “I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality… I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word.”- Martin Luther King, Jr. Racism: the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races.
