The coast is where the land and sea connect. The protection and use of the ocean in these coastal regions is essential to the survival of all living things. Coasts support many plants, animals, and humans, so the conservation of these areas is imperative. Water is crucial to the recreation, agriculture, and habitats in coastal regions.
Many people, especially those living near the beach, love to use the sea for recreation. There are many activities to do at the beach or in the water, including fishing, boating, swimming, waterskiing, or canoeing. None of these entertaining activities would be possible without the ocean. The tourists and visitors coming to coastal regions to enjoy the ocean or coast are also important. The visitors pay for things in that city, and therefore improve the economy. When a tourist visits a state with a coast, such as North Carolina, they will eat at local restaurants, buy souvenirs, and spend money on activities. The money that is obtained through tourists helps the coastal state’s economy. The recreational activities bring

Aquaculture is practiced in both freshwater and saltwater, including coastal waters. We need coastal waters to raise marine plants and animals because, even though we have ponds and lakes, we need other places to cultivate ocean life. The ocean is also important to aquaculture because it provides an environment for sea plants and animals to live and breed before they are used for other purposes. Aquaculture provides us with marine life that can be used for nutritional and medicinal purposes. The life raised through aquafarming is also used in biotechnology, which is the use of nature to make products that are used to better the lives of humans. Aquaculture is a large contributor to the amount of products made from marine life. Coastal waters provide a habitat for marine life that is used for goods and marine life that is
The Ocean has many ecosystems and animals that live and survive in there. We depend on some of the natural resources the ocean provides. We are hurting this by dangerous fishing and overfishing or overexploitation of the fish. The ocean has a great diversity
* The group is mostly focused on maintaining the vegetation of the various lagoons in the Terrigal area. As a result, most of their actions relate to the maintenance of the lagoons. The kind of things they do include:
II. Purpose of the Presentation and Thesis (with photo): There may be other coastal destinations in the United States, but Virginia Beach is both classic and classy.
To illustrate my point, there are enough beaches in Rhode Island one could go to a different beach everyday for weeks. The cities and towns are stock full of things to do, ranging from parks, historic sites, and places to shop or swim. Only in the Ocean State can one buy a refreshing cup of Del’s lemonade or go to the Bite Me Bait store where you can get anything from keychains or clothing to fishing gear.
Each year approximately seven million tourists travel to Delaware’s coast to vacation at the local beaches of Rehoboth, Lewes, Bethany, Cape Henlopen, Fenwick Island, and many more. Due to all the tourists who travel to Southern Delaware’s coast, major work and economical opportunities have opened up to the nearing town’s and residents. what attracts so many people to the beaches of Delaware? The answer is simple, the National Resources Defense (NRD) has tested the coast and as stated by Congressman John Carney the tests showed that “Delaware’s beaches have again been lauded for having the cleanest water quality in the nation.” Both the beaches of Rehoboth and Dewey “were again awarded 5-star ratings as Superstar Beaches for their perfect swimming water quality for the past four years.” The coast also includes many activities for families that may include things like fishing excursions, water parks, boardwalk and outlet shopping, boardwalk games, a movie theater, along with scenic walks and parks such as the Cape Henlopen State Park for more of the nature lovers of the
“How to Farm a Better Fish” by Joel K. Bourne, Jr. was published in National Geographic’s June, 2014 edition magazine. This particular article characterizes the differences between the various types of aquaculture, as well as what species to feed and the ingredients that make up the food given. The reporter who composed this editorial informed the reader of the advantages and downfalls of an indoor fish tank vs. an outdoor fish pen. The reporter pointed out the numerous ways an aquacultural company may feed their harvest of fish. He even explained that some fish farms have a whole ecosystem of aquatic animals and plants that they feed instead, to supply the whole food chain with enough nutrients. This is a rather important article because
Tourism is a dominant industry that drives the economic growth of America’s economy. From the natural beauty and culture of Costal Southern New England’s beaches and towns it has made this a popular place of travel filled with rich history that defines this region. As tourism congregated into a large activity that occurs today, over time, it has created environmental, social, and economic impacts. These types of impacts occur when tourists’ level of usage of local resources is greater than the environments ability to cope with this use within the acceptable limits of alteration. As a result of this, the environmental issues that have surfaced are affecting Costal Southern New England’s legacy.
The oceans need to be protected because it is where life began and if not taken care of, life as we know it will end. The well-being of the ocean is constantly being threatened and needs to stop. When dangerous substances go into the ocean, ecosystems suffer and become endangered along with the lives of people and marine life. The importance of protecting and preserving the quality and biodiversity of the world 's coasts must be recognized because they are truly irreplaceable. If humans are not educated , and become careless about what is thrown on the ground or sprayed on lawns, disastrous effects follow when it comes to the condition of the ocean’s ecosystems, which can endanger life itself, leading to a problem only we can correct. There is historical evidence of ocean pollution, although the problem still shadows us today.
While the Earth’s surface is seventy percent covered in water, countries are reliant on the Ocean’s vegetation, marine life and resources. By eliminating those factors from coastal countries, many communities will suffer economically and culturally. Specifically, countries that catch, sell or eat seafood will have to exchange their lifestyle to meet their need for food and money in order to survive. Ultimately, drinking water is not obtained through salt water from oceans
The Effects of Human Activity on Coastal Landforms Human activities add another layer of complexity to the natural processes of coastal lands and materials. These activities may have direct or indirect effects on our changing coastlines. They may effect sources of new sediment to the coast and the movement of sediment within the coastal environment. Sediment starvation caused by river and coastal management is one effect of human activities on the coast. For some coastal regions, such as the Pacific coast, a large part of their sediment is supplied by rivers.
Oceans cover approximately 75% of Earth 's surface and are vital to this planet and the people who inhabit it. Oceans provide food, natural resources, and recreation for nearly everyone in this world. Unfortunately Oceans have been receiving mass amount of pollutants including oil spills, toxic waste dumping, and industrial dumping. These pollutants will have negative impacts on the wildlife in the ocean, as we are seeing already with the Coral Reefs, and soon enough it will begin to affect our lives as well.
People are linked to the oceans in many ways that they can understand and others that are not so obvious; a means of transportation and support economies by providing a food source are the obvious ones .Civilizations through the millenniums have used the sea to nurture them providing the food source and other resources. Today the ocean is utilized for escape or tourism for its serenity and if all of the majestic biological organisms that ocean has to offer. People need to preserve this in incredible resource and start working on this today.
Another aspect of impact of tourism on a country’s economy is that it facilitates the expansion of the market of goods and services. Foreigners come to a country willing to spend money on different goods and services, thus increasing the amounts of sales. This is a great chance for producers and service providers to receive larger profits. This concerns not only hoteliers, tour operators, and souvenir shops owners. Public transportation, retail stores of different kind, restaurants, and cafes benefit from international tourism. Obviously, if these industries are in demand, businesses will be expanding. On the one hand, it means that more money is paid to the budget. On the other hand, profits generated by the owners are spent inside the country, affecting almost all the fields of the
Overfishing is a profound problem around the globe whereas coastal management strategies only have some disadvantages and have other options the government can resort to if any problem occurs. Nevertheless, both of these have effects on reliable food sources and other aspects. Without a doubt, overfishing has miscellaneous impacts on
The ocean plays a critical role in removing carbon from the atmosphere and providing oxygen. It regulates Earth's climate. The ocean is an increasingly important source of biomedical organisms with enormous potential for fighting disease. These are just a few examples of the importance of the ocean to life on land.
