The coast is where the land and sea connect. The protection and use of the ocean in these coastal regions is essential to the survival of all living things. Coasts support many plants, animals, and humans, so the conservation of these areas is imperative. Water is crucial to the recreation, agriculture, and habitats in coastal regions.
Many people, especially those living near the beach, love to use the sea for recreation. There are many activities to do at the beach or in the water, including fishing, boating, swimming, waterskiing, or canoeing. None of these entertaining activities would be possible without the ocean. The tourists and visitors coming to coastal regions to enjoy the ocean or coast are also important. The visitors pay for things in that city, and therefore improve the economy. When a tourist visits a state with a coast, such as North Carolina, they will eat at local restaurants, buy souvenirs, and spend money on activities.
