Why People Should Keep Pit Bull Terrier

How often do people walk by a place and see someone getting attacked by a pitbull? Pretty much never. So why ban pit bulls from being pets whenever they don’t do anything to anyone? That’s right, they shouldn’t be banned. Pit bulls should be allowed to be pets because they help children and teens with ADHD, they’re not dangerous if raised properly, and banning pit bulls isn’t going to stop all dog bites.

The media portrays Pit Bulls as innately aggressive and dangerous due to their past with dog fights. There are banns all around the world on people owning Pit Bulls, and restricting them on what they can and can’t do with their dog. For example, recently in Montreal Canada, Pit Bulls were banned and ordered to be surrendered, euthanized or have very strict limitations on their freedoms outside their homes (Malboeuf, M 2016). Have you ever been told that you can’t own your dog because of its breed? Most people haven’t simple because most people don’t own a Pit Bull. Pit Bulls have been made illegal to own in some cities just because of their breed. They are view as “Dangerous” or “Bad” just because of some people who raised theirs wrong. People used to use them in dog fighting and people today shouldn’t have to get rid of their loved family pet because other people don’t like the idea of a Pit being in their town. The question of whether or not Pit Bulls should be banned is a hot topic in recent society, but the real question is should Pit Bulls be punished for the actions of their owners, or should laws be enforced at a higher degree.
