Physical activity partakes an importance in our lives, and a simple way to get active is to join a sport. Many people do not consider themselves to be athletic, but with a sport like Track and Field one does not have to be because it can be recreational or competitive. Therefore; people should participate in Track and Field because it involves a variety of events for different strengths.
Track and Field contains multiple events. The sport divides into four main skills which include sprinting, pacing , jumping, and throwing. This gives anyone the opportunity to figure out what events fit their strengths. People who can sprint, for example, could do the 100m dash (a quarter of the track), 200m (half a lap), or 400m run (one lap).The long jump, triple jump, pole vault or high jump are events for people who can jump well. The long jump and triple jump involve running a certain distance and then jumping at a certain point into a sand pit, however, the triple jump challenges the individual with a hop , skip, and then jump into the pit . High jump requires upper body strength to hoist oneself over the bar to achieve a certain height. Pole vault compares to high jump, but a pole used to reach heights above 10ft. For those who rather not run at all, but have the upper body strength to throw objects, events such as javelin throw, shot put, and discus throw could interest them. Track and Field can also be a team sport. Relays are created for many events to give each team a chance to put their best runners or throwers together to compete. For a running event, a baton gets passed between each player after their respective distance finishes. Field events do their individual throws or jumps and then add the distances together to see who reached the highest
