Physical activity partakes an importance in our lives, and a simple way to get active is to join a sport. Many people do not consider themselves to be athletic, but with a sport like Track and Field one does not have to be because it can be recreational or competitive. Therefore; people should participate in Track and Field because it involves a variety of events for different strengths.
Track and Field contains multiple events. The sport divides into four main skills which include sprinting, pacing , jumping, and throwing. This gives anyone the opportunity to figure out what events fit their strengths. People who can sprint, for example, could do the 100m dash (a quarter of the track), 200m (half a lap), or 400m run (one lap).The long jump, triple jump, pole vault or high jump are events for people who can jump well. The long jump and triple jump involve running a certain distance and then jumping at a certain point into a sand pit, however, the triple jump challenges the individual with a hop , skip, and then jump into the pit . Sports are fun. Sports will allow you to work on becoming physically fit in many ways. Many sports share the same rules and are done some ways the same but normally each sport has there on ways on how that sport is played. Take a moment and see how football and baseball are two different sports but have the both have ways in common and how they are different as well.
Sports differ in many ways even the things that should be the same can be complete opposites. I have played football, basketball, soccer, track, and cross country and I never payed attention to running in any of those sports except for in track and cross country. I did not notice the amount of running I did in all those sport until I had to only focus on the running aspect. To this day I can say I have learned lessons in all of my sports, but running sports have taught me the most. Running is mandatory in so many sports, yet it has presented some of the largest obstacles for a me to overcome mentally.
A track and field lifestyle revolves around an athlete's: Nutrition, Work ethic, and Attitude. This is a play by play of what goes on in the daily life of a track and field athlete. The first thing to focus on during and post season is nutrition. Next thing is work ethic, basically how determined a person is to complete a set goal. There are some interesting stories out there about working hard and how it pays off. Lastly is an athlete’s attitude. The way a person carries themselves says a lot about who they really are.
Sports is my way of challenging my body and myself. There is great joy being on a team oriented sport and a more individual sport track. Playing a mix of sports expands my skill set and keeps things interesting.
In the races today, there is a set course, and the runners must stay on the designated course. The earliest version of Cross Country had multiple runners in a team start at different times. The first runner started ten minutes ahead of the other teammates. This runner left a trail of paper scraps for the others to follow once they started. The next runners had to hurry and follow the trail. Sometimes the first runner made the trail as difficult to follow as possible. The person did this by leaving false trails and running in strange patterns. Another version of Cross Country appeared later on. This version had the runners “race from one point to the next, but had no fixed route to follow” (Tiefenthaler). As long as the racers got to the finish line they were good. Finally, Cross Country morphed basically into the sport today. When Cross Country began to popularize, “U.S. Track and Field athletes ran cross country to improve their stamina” (Tiefenthaler). The sport gained many fans and followers. Official races started occurring in the United States. Cross Country became so big it was even put in the Olympics. Track and field sports are getting faded among young generation nowadays. Most of them are refused to join track and field sports because they do not have an interest to join the sports or maybe they were being forced to hate the sports.
All events require the use of energy, especially since all events contain many components. In the game of track and field, it would be helpful to take note of the stadium. The stadium contains many markings on the track as well as the field. Track events take place on the perimeter of the stadium. There are 8 track lanes, and each lane are 3 feet, making all the lanes 24 feet. There are various markings such as an 800m, 16,000m, 10,000m, 400m, 1500m, 3,000m, 5,000m, 200m, 110m, 100m, as well as the mile start and the finish line. Field events take place in the center of the stadium. The field area accommodates the different field events. On the left side of the field of the location of the high jump, and on the lower center of the field is where the Long/Triple Jump takes place. On the upper center of the field is where the pole vault events take place. Then, towards the center on the right is where the Discus and Hammer Throw events take place and finally, on the left, is where the shot put events take
Starting with the simplest of differences; in track you throw a sixteen-pound ball while in football the ball is about one pound. The implement that is used in track is a sphere that has is a little bit larger than your palm. While in football the ball is an inflated, elongated oval that has points at each end of the ball. Also in football, with the position that I play, I can’t legally carry the ball while in track I have to throw the implement. With one of the similarities between track and football being the team aspect, but the difference is that track is all individual events while football is one big event. Track is a sport that has individuals fill roles in a single event, but football has a team of eleven players working together all at once. Another difference between the two sports is how points are acquired. In football you are able to acquire points at any time throughout the event. You can score point such as one point, two points, three points, or six points depending on how your team decides to score. On the other hand, in track it’s only after each event is over, and the points are awarded to which place you get in your event. First place gets ten points and the point decrease the worse you place in your event. Also you score points as a team working together in football, and on the other hand in track you score points individually which add up to a team’s score.
An audience that would be very interested in the running community would love it due to the fact its healthy, learnable, educational, and destroys many social barriers. Running has a very simple purpose, which is to connect with the audience that healthy life can be achieveable without using a lot money. I think many people would enjoy in particapating in running due to the friendly atmosphere that it gives off to everyone.
