Why Should Child Soldiers Be Brainwashed?

Imagine being a brainwashed child soldier who thought they were doing something good but later found out that they were going to be killed for their actions. Would you be wondering what you did wrong? They were told what they were doing was good to later find out it was wrong and that they were gonna die for it. There have been soldiers fighting for terrorist groups because the terrorists convinced them that what they would be doing would be for good. I think that they should be given amnesty because they’re brainwashed, tortured and are made broken promises. My first reason they should be given amnesty is because they’re brainwashed. Kids are vulnerable and they can be brainwashed very easily. This includes drugging and abusing them. This shows in the article “Child Soldiers: Victims or Perpetrators?” where it says “More often than not children have no say in whether they enlist or not and once recruited the children become brainwashed through the use of drugs and alcohol. The drugs and alcohol make the children become more compliant enabling them to commit atrocities which they never would have before.” This shows how army commanders are drugging kids in order to brainwash them and get them to do stuff for the army. This shows again in the same article where it then says “Children are often forced into fighting and have little choice over whether or not they enlist.” This shows how they don’t even have a say when they go to war and are tortured or threatened into joining the army.
