Cigarettes are a very dangerous drug in the world this is why something must be done so it is stopped from being sold, smoked, and encouraged. The reasons that cigarettes should be banned are listed below. Cigarettes are very harmful to people and sometimes even the communities that people live in because of some of the toxins that cigarette smoke gives off. Cigarettes can be very costly with the resources that are needed to make them as well. The support to these reasons are listed in the following paragraphs.
Cigarettes cause serious harm to people as there are more than 4 million people dying yearly because of smoking cigarettes as it is the leading cause of death in the world as Dr. Michael Roizen has stated. Not only does smoking affect the smoke but, it can also affect the communities that people live in today with the deadly toxins that are put into cigarettes which can also cause pollution ("TreeHugger", 2002). This could become a serious problem because if smoking cigarettes does become illegal then smokers may try to find an alternative such as marijuana. Marijuana is said to do worse damage to your body than cigarettes do ("Partnership for Drug-Free Kids", 1997). Smoking one marijuana joint is equivalent to smoking 2.5 to 5 cigarettes in terms of damage to the lungs as studies has shown ("Partnership for Drug-Free Kids", 1997).
For the last reason why smoking should be banned is because it can cause damage to your personal appearance and can cause damage to the way you act in nature. Smoking can give people various diseases and health problems with the many different items that are made into cigarettes putting the smoker at risk of many harmful diseases ("National Cancer Institute", 2004). Smoking cigarettes can cause cancer, heart strokes, and makes it harder for a woman to get pregnant ("National Cancer Institute",
Cigarettes and other tobacco products should be made illegal because of the economic effects, addictive properties, secondhand smoke, and can lead to disease and/or death.
Smoking is the inhalation and exhalation of the smoke of burning tobacco. Historically, it was thought that smoking was harmless, but more modern, clinical and laboratory research proves that it is, in fact, extremely dangerous. Tobacco cigarettes should be illegal in the United States due to their plethora of negative effects on the population and the environment. If cigarettes were banned, the country would be a much better place. Pollution, diseases and fatalities would dramatically decrease, while productivity, financial stability and overall health would increase.
In the U.S. almost all of the things harmful to humans are banned except for alcohol and smoking. In Sally Chen’s Smoking Is Bad For Everyone So It Should Be Illegal, Chen makes her case against smoking and other types of tobacco consumption. Chen states that Smoking and tobacco should be banned because “It’s an addictive drug that not only harms the user but everyone else through secondary smoke.”
This year alone cigarettes will end up killing over 500,000 Americans, and many more will suffer from different types of cancer, circulatory, and respiratory system diseases, due to smoking cigarettes. Cigarettes have been known to cause these illnesses for a long time. The FDA has proven that nicotine, one of the main chemicals in cigarettes, is addictive. This explains why smokers continue to use cigarettes even though they are aware of the health dangers that come from smoking cigarettes. Researchers have also found out that when people smoke by pregnant women it causes the deaths of over 4,000 babies and 110,000 miscarriages. The only way to prevent death by cigarettes would be to ban them.
Smoking cigarettes are detrimental to everybody. Firstly, the effects on the user. Tobacco smoke contains at least 70 chemicals known to cause cancer (Cancer.org, 2017). The biggest risk that arises from smoking is lung cancer. It is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Canada. In 2017 21,100 Canadians will die from lung cancer, 26% of all cancer deaths (Cancer.ca, 2017). Secondly, the smoking not only affects the perpetrator, but also the people around them. The second hand smoke increase the risk for near people to get lung cancer and heart problems. Children are at a bigger risk because their respiratory and immune systems are still developing (Canada.ca,2016). Finally, it affects the environment. The smoke from the cigarettes contain carbon and methane, two chemicals that pollute the atmosphere. Smoking worldwide releases 2.6 billion Kg of CO2 and 5.2 billion Kg of methane. Also, cigarettes buds are one of the
Plague and cholera caused thousands of millions of people dead. Thanks to the medical advances, those diseases were eradicated. Now, when the whole world is worrying about AIDS, which has not found the solution yet; the appearance of tobacco is causing the great harms to human life. Many people think that they have the right to smoke; smoking helps them deal with stress and work more effectively, and they are contributing to their country’s economy when they smoke. On the other hand, people will get addicted to cigarette. Moreovers, smoking has many negative effects on the smokers, the non-smokers, and the environment. Smoking cigarette extremely affects human health. Smoking can cause diseases of the lungs, liver, and heart. Smoker’s life
A cigarette is a small cylinder like filled with cut tobacco leaves and rolled in a paper and ignited for smoking. In most countries, tobacco smoking is legal due to the businesses motives and also the people who are addicted. They cannot do without it. It has immense consequences, and it should, therefore, be illegal from the effects to the smokers, passive smokers and all the human beings due to the pollution of the environment. The following are some of the consequences from smoking tobacco:
Smoking is the number one cause of preventable death in the United States. Nicotine addiction is a serious and expensive problem. Smokers have decreased productivity and on average make less than non-smokers. Smoking is lethal to the human body through heart disease, respiratory illness, and increased likelihood and mortality of cancer.
For years cigarettes have been known to cause cancer, emphysema, and other horrible illnesses. The deaths of over 420,000 Americans this year will be attributable to cigarettes. With some of the other causes of preventable deaths such as, alcohol, illegal drugs, AIDS, suicide, transportation accidents, fires, and guns, cigarettes still account for more preventable deaths than those do combined, as stated by Lonnie Bristow M.D. of the American Medical Association at her speech to Indiana University. Some researchers have also found that smoking by pregnant women causes the deaths of over 5,000 babies and 115,000 miscarriages. The best way to get rid of the suffering and loss of life by cigarettes is to ban them. We can no longer stand aside and watch fellow Americans die because they smoke cigarettes. Thousands of smokers try to rid
Every year the US government passes numerous laws to protect its citizens. Yet, they still fail to protect its citizens from the leading cause of death in America. Although they work to protect the citizens they continue to ignore the most preventable death in America. The culprit responsible for these deaths is the cigarette. The impact that cigarettes make on a human is awful and there should be no reason why it is legal. Cigarettes should be banned because it is one of the harm fullest drugs around that is still legal. Cigarettes not only affect ones health but it affects the environment, economy and others around them.
Why should cigarettes be illegal? That is a great question. Tobacco smoke is a mix of over 7,000 chemicals. Cigarettes take away to many lives, can harm the people around you, and cost many Americans their money, time, and health . Honestly, I have a very strong opinion on this topic, because I've seen most of these effects first hand with my family. Let me explain myself...
One of the largest and most problematic health issues in our society is smoking. Smoking is currently the leading cause of death in our country, due to its harmful and addicting contents, such as nicotine and tobacco. Although millions die from it each year, smoking is the single most preventable cause of death as well. Without smoking, a tremendous amount of money and lives will be saved. I think that our country should ban smoking and the production of cigarettes in order to maintain a healthier nation, help save the environment, and prevent the almost 1000 deaths that they cause in fires each year.
Tobacco is a very negative substance. It has caused many deaths in the past 100 years in the United States. The CDC says that they’re 480,000 deaths in the United States each year (Health Effects of Cigarette Smoking). There are many forms of tobacco such as cigarettes, menthols, e-cigarettes, hookahs and shishas, dissolvables, bidis, and cigars. The government should ban tobacco products in the United States because it has negative effects to an individual's health, they’re also very expensive, and cause harmful pollution to the Earth and its inhabitants.
Smoking is an expensive habit. People who smoke cigarettes can spend as much as $2,500 a year on them. Smokers’ claim that it helps relax them and it releases stress but the negative aspects of smoking outweigh the positive. Smoking is a health hazard for smokers and non-smokers. Smokers should have the right to choose what to do with their own health but they should respect non-smokers. Many people believe that there are good and bad outcomes from smoking. I believe that smoking is bad and that it should be banned.
One main reason for this argument is that smoking should be banned because of it harmful effects on the smokers health. Smoking leads to many series health issues. One of the most common diseases that smokers get because of smoking is lung cancer and sometime it can cause stomach cancer and cervical and breast cancer for women. It also affects the heart, blood pressure, weight. And this affects leads to heart attack and stumbled circulatory. Another common outcome of smoking is stroke.
