Why Should Curfew Start At A Specific Time?

Crimes by juveniles occur more often during the day than at night. When either both parents work, or there is a single parent household, juveniles must come home from school alone. Since juveniles are left unsupervised, they sometimes commit crimes and these crimes usually occur during the day. Those opposed to curfews replied that most juvenile crimes occurred in daylight hours, that most children were not criminals, and that many legitimate nocturnal activities were being suppressed (Juvenile Curfews and the Major Confusion Over Minor Rights). Since most juvenile crimes occur during the day, why should a curfew be imposed on juveniles?

A curfew is a time frame given by an authority like a parent or the government to teenagers below 18 to be home before a certain period of time. Curfew is a set time which teenagers will have to schedule their activities around. Generally, this curfew doesn’t change and helps your teen to understand boundaries. It is a wonderful idea for teens to have curfews because it teaches them to be responsible and also considerate of other people around them. As teenagers, it is natural for adolescents to feel like their freedoms are being taken away and that their parents don’t know what is best. However, curfew is put in place for the direct opposite, which is keeping teenagers out of trouble. My opinion is that curfew was set to protect minors but, there are plenty of reason why a minor would be out passed curfew and there should be system where some minors can exempt the law like having parental permission.

Although having a curfew for it to be illegal for teenagers to be on the streets after ten o’clock p.m. on weekdays or after midnight on weekends would be beneficial in exceptional and deficient ways, many citizens will disagree with having a curfew. The eminently important reason Dierks, Arkansas, should have a teenage curfew is for the security of the teenagers. Another reason is for the parent to have control over their child, instead of their child being undisciplined. On the other hand, having a curfew could hinder maturity.

Teenagers are being age discriminated just because they are a certain age doesn’t mean they participate in illegal activity after curfew. There is also no proof that curfews actually make teen crime go down. This makes teen curfews even more discriminating to teenagers. Although many people think teenagers should be home by 10, but I think teenagers should have the curfew because they are young adults, they know right from wrong, they should know not to get in trouble.

First and foremost, city council should make staying out late for teenagers illegal because of danger. If city council makes this illegal, it could prevent some of the kidnapping, use of drugs, or killings. Most things happen late at night because people are less seen, if teenagers are made to be home at a curfew, fewer of these dangers will occur to our town’s teenagers.

Now a days there are many teenagers going out late at night without any supervision. Many of them just go out to cause/look for trouble and get hurt. Usually, there is a higher risk of teenagers doing illegal things at night, for that reason, there should be curfews to prevent them from doing these things. Police officers are finding new ways to enforce curfew laws. The curfew in Orange County begins at 10 p.m. or 11 p.m., depending on the city, and last until 5am. Police officers have started to do “curfew sweeps” (looking out for teenagers past the designated hours) and have actually gotten young teens in trouble. Police officers should conduct more curfew sweeps because it helps their community's crime rate decrease, helps teenager get out of uncomfortable situations, and finally it will help parents keep their kids under control.

Many teenagers have a set time they have to be home by their parents. Usually teenagers must be home from dates and nights out with friends by anywhere from 10 o’clock at night to 2 o’clock in the morning. Each parent has extremely different curfews set for their children, based on the individual level of responsibility and trust levels. Some local government decides to set their own curfews, to keep teens off the streets at night and out of trouble. Many people argue whether this actually solves anything, or is even legal to do, since it is taking away a piece of teenager’s freedom. Although there are many good and bad points to enforcing curfews, they should be less enforced because they do not necessarily keep teens out of trouble,

It is very important for the safety and well being of the youth in our community that a curfew be issued and enforced. As of late there have been several petty crimes perpetrated in the late evening hours by some of the youth in our community. I suggest that we impose a curfew limiting the juveniles under the age of 18 to being accompanied by a parent or guardian between the hours of 11:00 pm and 5:30 am. This is to ensure that we limit crimes of opportunity as well as ensuring the safety of our children and other citizens within our community.

Teen curfews have been in debate in most major cities for a while now. Parents and city council members have been trying to push laws to have young adults home safe and sound where they should be at a more reasonable time. Teen curfews are a good idea and should be enforced. Not only would it show more responsibility on the young adult’s part, but it would support teen safety. Another advantage to a curfew is that it would will help teens to be less sleep deprived.

I think there should be a curfew for kids 18 and under I agree with the teen that said it allows less time to get in trouble such as gang, drugs etc. I don't see why any kid or child should be outside or hanging out with friends, or anything else pass 9:30 pm especially on the weekdays. A kid or young adult should be learning about time management and responsibilities I don't agree that it takes freedom away by giving a curfew by 9:30 pm young adult and teens should be showering or doing extra reading or homework and getting ready for school. Me as adult I don't even stay out late or don't even want to because I know I have responsibility I need to do such high as job aND school staying out late could be dangerout so why should we give a chance

Having a teenage curfew is ineffective and useless. Many people argue that the curfews are necessary because it will keep young people out of trouble. They also say that teenagers are more likely to get in trouble late than they would during daylight. Teens are looked at as the age group that causes the most trouble, and society targets them when it comes to matter for crime, however many people believe that teens are responsible for a large percentage of crimes and that having a curfew in effect will help lower crime rates. I disagree with this because I don't think teenagers should be forced to follow a ridged time schedule because of a curfew.

Just because they have a curfew it doesn’t mean that they aren’t going to get in trouble. It may limit the things they do. Which in turn limits the trouble they get in, but it doesn’t stop them from doing things to get them in trouble.
