Due to word count limitation of 4,000 words for the team assignment, the authors were not able to cover all the views related to sustainability, team work and teambuilding.
One of the most vigorously debated topics is the issue of sustainability. These include climate change, overpopulation, pollution, and ignorance to the damage being done to the environment. The climate that all living things have come to rely upon is changing because of global warming. Today, sustainability has become a focal point and a significant part of life. Sustainability is defined as the ability to meet current environmental, ecological, economics, social and cultural needs without risking the ability of future generations to meet those same needs. What does the Best American Science Wtg. 2014 teach us about sustainability, and what makes the paradigm shift to a sustainable planet? These different authors explain with example how sustainability can be achieved and also the different points of views that exist. “TV as birth control,” by Fred Pearce, “Why the brain prefers paper,” by Ferris Jabrs, “Bringing them back to life,” by Carl Zimmer and “A race to save the orange by altering its DNA”, by Amy Harmon’s – reveals that cultural sustainability involves efforts to preserve the actual and evasive cultural elements of sociality such as heritage, educational opportunities and public policies, in way that promote environmental, economic and social sustainability.
VISION- Roads, and means of transport, make a crucial contribution to economic development and growth and bring important social benefits. Roads are among the most important public assets in many countries. Road improvements bring immediate and sometimes dramatic benefits to road users through improved access to hospitals, schools, and markets; improved comfort, speed, and safety; and lower vehicle operating costs. For these benefits to be sustained road improvements must be followed by a well-planned program of maintenance, therefore it is a paramount to maintain and reconstruct roads to ensure wellbeing and to increase development of the country.
The term sustainability is one that been conceptualized since the early civilizations of humans inhabited the earth. During those primative times, everything that allowed civilizations to thrive came from the earth. Humans during those times were more more in touch with their reliance on the environment. In today's society, the reliance on our natural environment seems much further away due to our insulation from modern conveniences. Nevertheless, this conception could not be further from the truth; we are more reliant now on the world's renewable resources than ever before.
Sustainability is a word that seems to be constantly popping up around us. But I suppose that’s to be expected when we live in a time period where sustainability is essential for our survival as our planet continues to fall down in a spiral of destruction, poverty and war. So why is sustainability such a difficult thing for people to do? Why doesn’t everybody make a little effort to make a big difference? I presume part of the reason is people don’t know how they can help. How can me, one person, in this 7 billion populated planet make a difference? I believe the first place to start is to be taught about the problems we face surrounding sustainability, or more correctly, the problems we are going to continue to face if we
When I was five years old I began school. In Kindergarden we learned basic things like letters, numbers, and how not to be fully engulfed in flames. For some reason, 2004 was the height of anti-fire education in Missouri and before I knew how to tie my shoes I knew that if I ever was ablaze, to cover my face, fall to my knees, and roll back and fourth. This is what my institution placed serious value upon and because I was a student of that institution I also placed serious value upon it. The same idea must be applied to a university's teaching of environmental sustainability. This is discussed in David Orr's "What is Education For?" Through choosing a curriculum a university chooses what it places value onto, by making the environment a priority it showcases to the future generations that environmental wellness is an important responsibility for them to take ownership.

Post-secondary and graduate educations are attainable goals with selected people experiencing the barrier of affordability. Certain individuals come from affluent families and money is not an obstacle to higher education. Others have opportunities to secure funds due to athletic or academic excellence with grants and scholarships. For those who don’t fit in those two categories, they still have the opportunity to go to college with the help of financial aid. If the desire is present, the effort is easy.
With the idea of sustainability in terms of the environment and renewable resources being discussed more often, the idea of social sustainability encroaches its way into all of these topics. With questions such as: how will a city manage this? How will enforcement of sustainability affect our lifestyles? Will people actually willingly follow these ideas of sustainability? These questions show the concern people have for society and this new idea of a sustainable lifestyle. However, people will end up not following these new guidelines to a more reserved and environmentally aware lifestyle, which in turn leads to the question: are they really valuable to society? Ethically speaking, no these people are not valuable, because in turn,
This paper aimed to explore the concept of sustainability of nursing innovations guided by the concept analysis framework developed by Wilson (1969). Although attention in the literature of implementation science has arisen in a few decades, there is a need to identify a concrete definition to capture the essential elements in the concept of nursing innovations sustainability. This paper will present the connotative definitions and attributes, operational definition, antecedents, consequences, exemplar cases, contributes to nursing science and practice, and suggestions to further development of the concept.
The average human being, multiplied by the Earth’s population, would need to have about four Earths just to supply enough resources (Footprint Calculator). Thinking of people around the world, the people of the United States seem to take a lot of their life for granted. Many people when they hear of the polar ice caps melting wave it off and either don’t believe in it or believe it is not their problem. Well it is their problem and if we don’t jump on the issue soon we will not be giving our future generations much of a life. This brings me to the idea of sustainability. A simple description of the word means that what we have today we will also have tomorrow, next week, next year, or even the next lifetime. Although that is the modest version sustainability is much, much more than just that. Sustainability is derived from three main parts of the human life: environmental, social, and economic. Each being just as important as the other. Environmental is the most well-known aspect of sustainability in human life, but both social and economic take their place in keeping this Earth sustainable.
Sustainability is a topic that has become very important in recent years. Sustainability is defined as, “the ability to continue a defined behavior indefinitely.” ("Finding and Resolving the Root Causes of the Sustainability Problem", 2014)
In today’s global economy sustainability is very important; from the biological aspect to the industries they all play a role on the marine environment. As world population increases the demand of fish rises causing overfishing. Certain laws have been placed to limit the amount of wild fishing to reduce the risk of endangerment. To meet the demand of the population, fish farms are introduced. Pollution and health related issues are part of the challenges of fish farming. Sustainability also affects social areas such as beaches.
Sustainability is the continuance of a defined behavior or action with the ability to maintain a balance of what and how that specific behavior is being completed (Business Dictionary, 17). As this definition is general, we can apply it using a qualitative breakdown of its importance to biology and ecology. The importance of sustainability in biology and ecology is to ensure that the relationship in which we utilize our natural resources does not surpass the Earth’s abilities to produce those materials due to our consumption. This is the idea of sustainable development. Per Environmental sustainability; practice global implications, “we cannot generalize environmental sustainability with the interpretation that we must ensure that we can
