Less than one percent of all Americans are enlisted in the military. An even smaller percentage of high school students are enlisted in the military. Students are thought to be incompetent, and not mature enough to decide on enlisting in the military. However, students should be allowed to join the military. The military offers many benefits students can use to help their future. The protection of our country is not overlooked for recruits; they are awarded many personal benefits as well. Tuition assistance, job training, and many benefits that help prepare recruits for occupations while enlisted. Not only are students getting great benefits, but they are also in a small group of professional workers.
Not everyone in this country fights for our freedoms and protection.Soldiers are the heroes who risk and give up freedoms for their country and they are brave people who don't just care for us to be entertained. They give us protection and freedoms so that others can entertain us like athletes. The world is not just about athletes entertaining us but about the freedoms we have in this country thanks to soldiers.I believe soldiers should be paid more for all that they do for there country and people living in it.Can you imagine life without freedoms.Well thanks to soldiers we don't have to worry about it.
In 1775, Revolutionary leaders quickly found that in order to win the war they would need to accept soldiers other than white property owners, so they turned to white poor and middle class. The only problem now for the leaders was convincing the people that their cause was worth fighting for, and to persuade them they promised the poor the opportunity to rise in both rank, and social statues. Next, they offered them pay, and once they had increased their rank and the war was over they may be able to obtain superior jobs them before. Howard Zinn says “In fact, the military became a place of promise for the poor, who might rise in rank, acquire some money, and change their social status.”(1) Finally, they offered them adventure and self fulfillment of service.
The most hardworking people are usually the least recognized. They are generally the least paid as well. There must be some sort of incentive for them to continually work so hard. The United States Army has been the underdogs of the military branch. The United States Army is probably the hardest working branch of the military, but also the least sought after. To the general public they are not considered to be at the top of the spectrum amongst the other branches of military. The government has helped in creating a bias within the branches of military by making the standards to get into the military so low compared to some of the other branches. The Army should be considered the “People’s Army.”
Every day, there are American citizens who risk their lives for the sake of their country's safety. Men and women who believe that justice, peace, and equality should be served. However, within their beliefs, some choose to exclude transgender individuals who have the same rights and freedoms. The American society considers the world to be progressively changing and growing, however, seem to forget that in order for the military to survive the 21st century, diversity is crucial. Although the medical costs may raise the overall healthcare median per year, transgender individuals should have the right to serve in the U.S. armed forces because any human being who meets the physical qualifications and has a willing attitude should have the right to serve.
There are a lot of graduates fresh out of high schools that make the decision to use the military. There are some people that join the military because that is a fast and easy choice for them. A controversial continuity with respect to how the United States constructs its military is that the elite and upper class have always been “exempt” from serving in the military. By law, the upper class have not been exempt but have been able to pay their way out of it. For example, in A People’s History of The United States written by Howard Zinn he says, “Someone called to duty could provide a substitute or get out of it by

There are many things that contribute to the US Army’s status as a profession. The US Army relies heavily on patriotism and positive public opinion to maintain its status as a profession. The US Army currently sustains its enlistment levels solely through volunteers from the general population. Throughout history the draft has been initiated very rarely in order to augment the ranks. Congress approves the funding and benefits that make the US Army a viable profession for those US citizens who volunteer to serve. Without adequate financial support, many soldiers could not afford to volunteer to serve. The public must trust that military and congressional leaders will utilize the Army, comprised of the sons and daughters who volunteered to serve, in moral and ethical ways and for purposes that support only the best interests of the United States. If Army soldiers and their leaders’ acts in reprehensible ways that destroy the trust and confidence the public places in this profession, the status of the Army stands at risk of declining.
Many people are concerned about the U.S. military because of how many risks come with joining it. However, the U.S. military also explains the benefits that one could receive. Joining the military is a decision that should not be taken lightly. One must understand all aspects of the military. In order for a voter to be fully informed about joining the US military, one must consider both the risks, like mental illnesses and commitment and benefits, like education, and experience.
Accountability is very important in the Army. Accountability is taking responsibility for your actions and your items. By meaning what you say, saying what you mean, and doing what you say, when you say you will do it. By keeping track of all my items and equipment I can always be ready for anything that is needed of me by my country, my superiors, or other servicemen. Being accountable means being dependable. Where my country, my superiors and fellow servicemen can count on me in any situation. to know I will be there to do what is necessary. Taking responsibility for your own actions and equipment is what keeps things running smoothly. And keeps things from turning into utter chaos. Being in

The characteristics of a soldier vary in the different military branches but ultimately a soldier is loyal to his or her country, willing to fight and die. In an article by B.R. Burg, the author states “The complete officer must be the complete man, they believed, and to measure up each had to possess an amalgam of qualities that included patriotism, courage, honor, loyalty, absolute honesty, and elevated standards of morality” (439).
