Almost all schools have extracurricular activities that you can do after school. Most schools don't require their students to participate in any of these activities, but it's a good thing that not all schools require it. The reason schools shouldn't require students to participate in activities after schools are because many kids don't have time, they may not like any of the activities, and it can put stress on parents.
A lot of kids don't have time to stay after school because of extracurricular activities outside of school like sports, or even just getting home and then going out to play with friends. Another reason kids don't have time is because of how much homework students have. Many students get lots of homework, and activities after schools can t ake away time for students to do homework.

If the kids don't want to do the activity then they will be bored and if they are bored then they won't want to do any work for the activity. Another thing is, since they don't want to take part in any of the activities it is a waste of time that could be spent doing homework or finishing other school work. Plus being in these activities can distract kids from their school work and my effect their participation and work in class because they will not have a break from school work.
Last but not least, being in an after school activity can cause stress on parents. Many parents have jobs that don't end until late, which mean that some kids will be stuck at school without a ride, or parent will have to leave work early to get their kids. Leaving work early can effect parents paychecks and can also result in them losing their job. Not only do parents have lots of stuff to do at work, but when they get home they still will have a lot of work to do at home, like making dinner, laundry, or maybe they just want to get home to watch their favorite TV
Districts should get rid of after school activities, an education is more important. Although it keeps kids active; kids need to be more focused in their school work. Therefore, districts should get rid of after school activities because they are distracting, it causes financial problems, and grades drop.
In an article, an expert said ¨Although academic work is vital, these extra-curricular activities are also significant for students because they teach responsibility and teamwork¨(¨Reasons Why the School Day Should Be Shorter¨). Colleges
Students are not getting enough sleep. There is either homework or after school activities keeping kids from getting the right amount of sleep they need. The author states that, most kids are going to bed at 10 p.m. or later on school nights, even though they have to get up early the next day. Changes can be made at school to adjust to students’ sleep patterns. Some ways schools can adjust to students’ sleep patterns is shifting the time to start later, giving less homework or less after school programs, schools could also end sooner.
In the past school years, Frisco has had one hundred and eighty days of instruction. The Texas Legislature recently passed a Bill amending the Texas Education Code to require districts to provide "at least 75,600 minutes of instruction" instead of "180 days of instruction". Summers were cut short and limited to what they could have been. Now that a bill has been passed, school districts have the option of adding more minutes to the school day. Districts have taken into play that they can add minutes to instruction time per day. School days should be longer so that we can get out of school earlier, schools can save money, and reach the certain amount of minutes per year.
In school, grades and scores are considered to be everything, if having the highest possible grades is a main priority, joining a program or activity after school would be highly beneficial. Activities and programs that are held after school can be one of the most beneficial things for a student in any type or grade of school. Participation and dedication is very important within years of attending school. These activities improve test scores, attendance, and chances for college or graduation in general.
when teens don’t get enough sleep, they tend to not have correct judgement, lower grades, and poor safety. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommended that high schools start school no earlier than 8:30, but only 15% of US high schools currently do. Although starting school later can affect some student schedules, it would be best for their mental health and physical health, academic performance, and safety.
Transportation to school would become more difficult of the mornings because of bus scheduling issues between elementary, middle, and high school. Also, it would be hard for parents to take their children to school because of work times. However, parents could get together and create school carpools for their children to make things easier. People would also think it would interfere with extracurricular activities. When students participate in extracurricular activities during a certain point in the year their games and practices would be after dark. Also, Parents may say that there would be no time for their children to do homework or to study for test after practice. If students were very committed to their activities, they could wake up early in the mornings and go to practice then go to school
In my opinion, being tired at school will continue to be a serious problem until school boards will make school later in the day. I think that school should start later and end at the usual time.
Many students participate in time-consuming after school associations, such as marching band, team sports, and academic clubs. These activities often require a considerable amount of time and effort on the participants’ part. If school hours were moved to a later time, these obligations would have to be moved back as well, potentially causing the students to be up later in the evenings. Additionally, high school academic assignments require hours to complete, and if school ended afterward, students would need to delay rest in order to finish it. Students would not be able to acquire as much sleep, which is what starting school later tries to avoid, possibly preventing them from achieving as well academically. Some may argue that there is the same amount of time between the start and end of school, but most teens would go to bed at their normal hour and wake up later, debunking that argument. Conclusively, school should not be started later because it would hinder students’ times for after school engagements and potentially bring the opposite effect of delaying
Secondly, students may have an after school job. For example, if students have and after school job then then they may have a conflict between schedules and activities from the school. However
Amelia: Activities are used at the school to show us that the school is a big place for opportunities to learn, and have fun like the plays you could learn new dance moves, and you have fun.
Imagine a young elementary student that would have to walk home by them self everyday from school because their older brother or sister can not be there because they have an activity to do. Others may already have a activity outside after school that they do that is not in school. They may like that activity a
If we get out of school at 3:00 pm, then most teens when they get home go straight to the living room to watch some TV. So within the time they have done that it only leaves them a little bit to do their homework, most teens have cell phones so that is always a distraction also, so while they are on their phones, eating, watching TV they are wasting the time they could be using to do their homework
There are no after-school programs at the schools in this city, and no other after-school programs other than this club. This leaves the children with the option of going to the Boys and Girls club, or fending for themselves after-school. This area is stricken with crime which makes it particularly dangerous for school aged kids to be unsupervised in the neighborhood. Again, this city is composed of mostly lower-class residents. This forces many parents to work hours after their children are out from school.
Schools should not have any involvement with student’s extracurricular activities because it can stress onto to the student. A student can be too focused on doing one out of their three extracurricular activities that they forgot to study for their huge Unit test and complete their homework that is due tomorrow. The student can start to stress about how they maybe will not do as well on the test as they hoped for because they didn’t have a lot of time to study for it. For example, I tend to go to junior class meetings after school and they usually end around 3:30. My walk home is 20 minutes long and I would get home around 4 but if the meeting runs longer I don’t get home until close to 5. I would have so much homework to do and would have to study for test and quizzes coming up and it would start to stress me out because I would have to stay up late. After that, I would stress about me staying up late to complete everything because I know the next day I would be extremely tired in school. Schools having any involvement in a student’s extracurricular activities can sometimes be draining and extremely stressful.
