Why We Should Pitbulls Be Banned

How often do people walk by a place and see someone getting attacked by a pitbull? Pretty much never. So why ban pit bulls from being pets whenever they don’t do anything to anyone? That’s right, they shouldn’t be banned. Pit bulls should be allowed to be pets because they help children and teens with ADHD, they’re not dangerous if raised properly, and banning pit bulls isn’t going to stop all dog bites.

We see that the dogs are primarily viewed as monetary investments, and they keep records of breeding, diet, and training of individual dogs. Also we see hobbyists which relates to my question not only pit bulls but to all dogs; should they be banned from being own as pets because of what they have been through. What hobbyists do is they stay closer to home, own fewer dogs, and have a greater interest in gambling and performing characteristics of the blood sport (Heger, 3). Did you know that Pit bulls were used to recruit soldiers in World War 1? Pit should not be ban. They will try to do anything to keep their owners happy. People will chain them in place with heavy chains. Pit bulls shold be pets and should not be banned.Here are a few reasons why.

He once saved his entire platoon by warning them of a poison gas attack.” There are other ways pit bulls can help people, some of them are they can protect the owner and the can protect other people if they are hurt.

Pit bulls aren’t fighting dogs anymore, if anything they are starved for attention. “It’s also important to note that some dog breeds are now bred for entirely different jobs than those for which they were originally developed” ("The Truth about Pit Bulls"). The only way a pit bull would be a fighting dog would be because of its owner. If an owner teaches their pit bull to fight then then of course the dog is going to be aggressive and do as it’s taught, but the dog will not fight without being raised that way. The question of whether or not Pit Bulls should be banned is a hot topic in recent society, but the real question is should Pit Bulls be punished for the actions of their owners, or should laws be enforced at a higher degree.

The pits that are raised in a fighting environment usually are the more aggressive dogs and the more likely to be euthanized because of their aggressive behavior. These fighting dogs are the reasons for most of the stereotypes directed towards the dog breeds. For example: “Pit bulls are the most aggressive dog breed” (17 Things...) Pit Bulls scored an 86.8% on the American Temperament Test or the ATT, which is a test that all dog breeds take in order to figure out the dog’s temper and aggression. The higher the score the better the dog, and the Pits just so happen to score second best, putting them above other common “nicer” household dogs like the Golden Retriever, the Beagle and the German Shepherd (Pisani). The history of the pitbull is in no way important to how they should be treated today. “Pitbulls are an extraordinary breed of dogs, but unfortunately a lot of people really do not like them.” People need to realize that pitbulls shouldn’t have a bad reputation for something they were trained and rewarded for.
