In my opinion, being tired at school will continue to be a serious problem until school boards will make school later in the day. I think that school should start later and end at the usual time. When kids get to school they seem tired and some might not have done what they have to do in the morning like shower etc. Some do not get very much sleep because of stuff they have to do at home like chores and even school work. In addition, sometimes they do not get the schoolwork done and have to do it. To do this the school boards or whoever is in charge of the school time they would fix it for school to start around nine instead of around eight. It is simple how this would work the kids would wake up around 7:30 – 8:00 and get what they have
Teenagers need more sleep. If schools start school later, students would be less tired. A study of eight schools in Minnesota started school 1 hour later and grades and morale went up and tardiness went down. It has been scientifically proven in a test they did in Minnesota that 8 schools stated later and most of the students grades went up they were happier and everyone seemed more
School should be started later then it is currently starting. Many kids do not get enough sleep, for various reasons. Some students try to stay up all night on their cell phones and other devices. Other’s go to bed around 9:30 to 10:30, but these students still struggle to get up. We could eliminate tired students who crawl from class to class by moving start times back by an hour or two. If schools started at a later time then students could get more sleep, they could feel more energized and ready for school, and it could help improve students grades.
School days should start later in the day because there are many benefits to doing so. Such as improved grades, Test scores, and safer roads because teens won’t be as drowsy if they sleep 8 plus hours.
Getting enough sleep is important for health and safety. If kids don’t get enough sleep then they can have trouble with mental health and physical health. Also if kids are walking or driving to school in the morning when it is dark then they can have
School's starting at 7:30 a.m. is an appropriate time, but having school start no earlier than 8:30 a.m. can be a lot more beneficial to students. School starting early in the morning can cause many harmful things to teenagers. Getting little to no sleep causes teenagers to be more forgetful and it limits their ability to learn. It can also lead to depression, aggressive behavior, obesity, drug and alcohol use, and sleep deprivation. Research shows that a later start time is generally a little more effective for students. Having Central Valley High School start at a later time would provide many positive outcomes to better adolescent's school work, safety, and their overall health.
If school start time is changed to earlier students would have to get up earlier. According to Kalish, in The Early Bird Gets the Bad Grade, students have trouble falling asleep because their “body clocks are set to a schedule that is different from that of younger children or adults.” Lisa Rodvien, who teaches at Anne Arundel county,Md. says her “attendance at her first-period classes was “as low as fifty percent or below.”” Students would also have to stay at school longer causing
Since the young adults have a tendency for not being able to sleep until later, on average, the young adults only get about 7 to 7 ½ hours of sleep, when in reality they need 9 to 9 ½ hours of sleep. With school starting early in the morning around 7:00 AM, adolescents are required to wake up around 5:00 AM, so they have time for getting ready, and for traveling. If school were to start later, it would greatly benefit the students. It would behoove the students if they could get more hours of sleep. Seeing that school were to start later, the car incident rates would decline, their attitude would improve, students would be more attentive, perform better
“They say the early bird catches the worm but for teens in high school, it would be better to catch some shut-eye.” – Nike Kennedy. Waking up early is pretty bad in itself but waking up early then having to sit and listen to someone talk for several hours is even worse. Starting school later would allow for the student to stay awake, and not make teachers feel foolish when their students have their head down falling asleep. School should start later because of the many benefits it would provide for the students and faculty.
.firstly, If school were to start later in the morning, students wouldn’t have time to get as much sleep as they need. Students would go to school earlier and that means they would get out later, and with
First of all, kids need their sleep. Waking up as early as 4:30 a.m. then working a seven hour school day is just way too much. For example, studies show that delaying school start times by at least one hour shows improvements in better work habits, increases in test scores,
I believe schools should move to a later start time. Starting later will be beneficial to teens. Starting time later will benefit teens because as they are growing and getting older they are requiring more sleep. First, teens require more sleep. For instance, teens require about 9.5 hours of sleep after puberty but only get 7.5 hours.
Transportation is a major issue that would be impacted by a later school start time. For many school districts, including my own, buses are reused for the elementary and high school students. The problem with shared buses is that if the high school start time changes, so would the elementary start time. Elementary students
School should start at later times because the extra sleep helps you focus more in school, feel a lot more energized and awake, and you get more time to do stuff in the morning before school.
As this school year goes on students will find themselves unable to wake up bright and early for school. Every morning children have the constant struggle of getting ready in time to catch the early morning bus, they usually don’t even have time for a healthy breakfast! That is outrageous, breakfast is the most important meal of the day and it gives kids the power they need to get through the day. Also having school so early effects students sleep, health/wellbeing, and the adults around them. All of these problems could be solved with one simple change.
If we were to start school later, academic GPA’s (grade point averages) would definately increase. Isn’t this what we want in our school? It is proven that the more sleep you get, the more awake and alert you actually are. I interviewed Michael Claffey, a sophomore at Newington High School, he stated “ Goooooud.” Also Jorge Premto a sophomore at Newington High School stated “Yes Michael, yes I do believe school should start at nine o’clock am. This will thus help further my education because I will be well rested.” In all, we need school to start later because it will help us with our education.
