Did you know that a large percent of kids have their first smartphone in elementary school? Many underage elementary schoolers are owning smartphones. The number of elementary school students owning a smartphone has increased a lot since 2012. When kids don’t have phones they can do much more than sitting, playing games, and searching the internet. Instead, they can play outside with their friends like normal elementary students. Overall, elementary schoolers shouldn’t have smartphones. Social media is one of the main causes of why kids shouldn’t have smartphones. Social media can lead to cyberbullying and people they don’t know contacting them. “17% of teens say that they have been contacted online by someone they didn’t know in a way that made them feel scared or uncomfortable.”. (Kids health, Teaching Kids To Be Smart About Social Media). Kids being contacted by people they don’t know can be extremely dangerous because the person could possibly find them. Cyberbullying, is another reason why kids …show more content…
However, children in elementary school are almost always under adult supervision and are able to contact their parents with another adults smartphone. If a child is taking a bus or doing something by themselves there are different types of phones that a student can have like flip phone or a track phone that doesn’t consist of any social media or games. “Parents generally say they buy their child a phone for safety reasons, because they want to be able to reach the child anytime.” (The New York Times, When to Buy Your Child a Cellphone). Buying a child a smartphone for safety reasons is a great idea, but if you buy your child a phone with only calling capabilities it is a way a child can call their parents and be safe from the dangers of the online world and social
Do you want kids to post pictures of teachers online? Do you want kids to text their mom to come get them? Do you want kids to take their phones to the bathroom? The answer is no. Phones should not be allowed in 10th period because of social media, taking advantage of using it anywhere , and texting.
My agurment writing is that kids in school should be able to have their phones. I have a few reasons why we should have our phones in class. One reason is for making videos/recording experiments. If students can’t have their phones the how can they record an experiment, if they can’t record then they can’t get a grade on the experiment. Which makes us students suffer for not being able to have our phones.
It has became very common for kids to have phones. There are young kids that rely on having a phone around to have fun. Teenagers never put their phones down. Students should not be allowed to have phones in elementary and high school.
Most schools do not allow the use of cell phones in school or in class, so the school feels like changing their policy of cell phone use might be a bad idea. Students could take advantage or miss use the privilege of phones in class. There will always be students who act out in class, but the school must discipline those who do and reward those who do not.
One reason why we should have our phones at school is because some teachers would say “kids will text each other during a test.” But all the teachers have to do is take the phones away during the test is going on, and when the test is over then the teachers can give you your phone back. Another reason is that teacher would say is “you don’t need your phones that are why there are chromebooks.” But on
The Center for Disease Control’s 2008 Wireless Substitution report shows that one of every seven Americans place and receive most, if not all, of their calls on a wireless phone. The increase in cell phone usage has expanded into our children’s schools. Many children in today’s society carry a cell phone on their person to school. This increase of usage and change of demographic has created a debate in many schools.
Safety is an important thing to schools. What if there is an emergency? If students have theri phones they will be able to solve the problem much faster.Parents want to know when their kids get too and from school. I know my parents do. Couldn't the school get in trouble if someone got hurt? “When my daughter gets off to school I want her to text me so she does”. She said. “High schools students should have cell phones as long as they do not call in class”. (Brody) Although you hope that you will never have to do this, you sometimes need to get
Schools should allow students to have their phones out in school. In case they need to contact their parents in a state of an emergency like a lock down or a threat to the school so they contact their parents so their parents know what's going (onkwikboost.com).Another reason is If the students are too shy to tell their school nurse they had an accident, I would be easier for the student to call their parents for what they need so they won't be embarrassed. To call or text their parents if their practice is cancelled or if they have to stay after to school to finish a test. You see there are so many opportunities students would need to contact their parents during school hours you can’t always use the office to call home.
“Who has their phone on!?” As students, we are tired of hearing that over and over again. But my question is why can’t we use our phones in school? We need them in school; for emergencies, so we can have books, and to make things neater. We should be able to use our phones.
We should not have phones in school. Did you know that there are more than about 7,919,900 phones in the u.s.
In most catholic or public schools, students are not permitted to use or have their phones out during class or even while being on school probity. If a class or a group of students were in need of help and none of the students had access to the door to be able to call out for help, then how would they be able to go to safety?A student or a whole class could get servilely get hurt, all because the school forbid students from having their phones while in the supervision of teachers or even being on school grounds.
Should phones be allowed in middle and high schools. Well in my opinion I think phones should be allowed in school. A advantage of having smart phones in school is it can keep you safe. Another reason is that it is convenient to have access to information right at your fingertips. Also it make sense to have cellular devices in school as a learning aid.
People in many schools regularly sneak around on their cell phones, trying to hide them from
Phones should be able out at Glenpool Middle School. Because you never know if there's an emergency at home and your little brother only knows you´re phone number and you don't pick up because you're not allowed to have your phone out. And that's the thing kids should atleast be able to have it in their pocket with the vibrator on. And teacher blab and blab about it's a distraction but it's not. Cell phones are perfectly fine and good to use when needed at school.
Smartphones have grown in number across all ages as the years have passed, especially with younger children in middle and elementary school. Every time that I go out to eat I see a family with a kid that looks about the age of a elementary school student that the parents just give them their phone to keep them quiet. But is that a good problem solver or bad, like in school, is it ok to have elementary students use smartphones in class. Some parents believe that children in elementary school should have smartphones in class if it will help, whereas some believe that they should not because it will just be a distraction.
