Is everyone pressuring you to go to college right out of high school? Well news flash, you don’t need to go to college right out of high school so be successful and make a lot of money! There are a lot of people who are very successful and they either: didn’t go to college at all, or went to college and realized it wasn’t for them and dropped out. There are a few reasons you should not go to college: You don’t need college to be successful, you will save a lot of money, and you can go to the work force. You do not need to got to college right out of high school to be successful and make money. In Steve Job’s speech at the 2005 Harvard Graduation, he says that he “never graduated college” and “ dropped out after the first semester.” Steve Job’s made his way without college, he just worked with the right people and he did things for himself and didn’t rely on anyone else. College cost a lot of money and by not going you will be saving a lot of money. For example if you go to college to become a nurse then you get a good paying job out of college that's all good but you actually won’t be making much because you will have all those student loans to pay off and on top of that you will have to pay you bills and taxes and food etc. that you will not be making much at all. Many jobs that one would get right out of high school are usually labor intensive or just not ideal conditions. These jobs include being the grunt worker for a construction company, working on a farm, or being a janitor. These job might not be terrible, but someone who does these would eventually become tired of their working environment. Having a college degree will typically end in having a more enjoyable job. Jobs like teaching, nursing, engineering, and accounting are all professions that require some sort of college degree and are considered nicer jobs with a better work environment. Going directly to college after high school can be completely beneficial to one’s life. It is what the government encourages while in high school and can easily be accomplished. By attending college at a young age you can live the infamous college life that so many adults speak of as “the best four years of my life”. These four years can be achieved and should be enjoyed. As a young student, one can have the stamina to attend class with hours on end. As a current college student, I see many adults coming back to college because they have been part of the group that has tried to succeed while only having a high school diploma. Mr. Feldman presents a very good point in “WHY GO TO COLLEGE?,” by stating that students that settle for a high school diploma or less, will not go as far, or reach their full potential. Students tend to get excited when they enter high school, thinking “yes! Only four more years to go! No more test! No more evil teachers! NO MORE SCHOOL!” But can you imagine just hopping from one dead end job to another? How does having two jobs sound like to you? Well from my experience I can honestly say I disliked it. For me, the reason that why I go to the college is everyone in my senior high school does it.Most of students in Taiwan who have graduated from high school, they go to college rather than find a job.
