Wilderness: The Only Suitable Environment For Animals

Although animal rights activists argue that the wilderness is the only suitable environment for animals, they must consider the danger in natural habitats. Predators that hunt prey rule the wilderness, thus placing animals in a food chain. Depending on where an animal ranks in the food chain, a prey species could be depleted and become endangered. According to Dr. Robin Ganzert, president and CEO of the American Humane Society, he says, “Breeding programs in zoos, such as the one at The Phoenix Zoo, help spread biodiversity and keep animals from going extinct.” He explains that the programs are beneficial to reproduction, as well as to introduce the offspring back into the wild.
