In the essay “Should Drugs Be Legal?” author William Bennett explores the question posed in the title. Bennett explores the claims made by, “the legalizers,” (Bennett 100) who are conservative and liberal voices that argue that the concept of fighting drugs is “flawed” and the war on drugs is unwinnable (Bennett 99). The legalizers claim that the only way to win this “helpless war” is to allow addicts to buy drugs at a regulated place (Bennett 99).
