Also, the Macbeth witches are described as having beards making it difficult to determine their gender. Shakespeare’s style of writing in Macbeth, poses the thought of whether his reader believes that their lives may already be mapped out, or if they have a say in what happens; thus piquing the audiences curiosity. Shakespeare also uses ghosts in some of his works. In his writings, there are three different varieties of ghosts. The three varieties are the vision or purely subjective ghost; the authentic ghost who died without an opportunity of repentance; and, the false ghost who is capable of many manefestations. The ghosts in Shakespeares earlier writings tend to be loud, obnoxious and very angry, but, towards the end of Shakespeares writing his ghosts had lost their melodrama. Ghosts typically displayed an intention or had a purpose, like in Hamlet. Revenge still had a major role, along with protection of loved ones, burial or a warning for any other characters. In Conclusion, Shakespeare refered to a variety of mythological creatures in many of his plays. He refered to them because he wanted to capture his follower's attention and draw them in to his many levels of imaginary worlds. By using some of his own creations and

Shakespeare infuses his own ideals into his fairy characters in order to make them a bit more Shakespearean. He keeps the Elizabethan ideals of beauty and nature, and makes his fairies small and with wings. Shakespeare?s use of fairies in his play proved to be a popular move amongst not only those in Elizabethan England, but readers since.

William Shakespeare is considered the greatest playwright of all time. His gift for developing characters is one major aspect that accounts for this lofty acknowledgement. Shakespeare created various characters from drunks and fools to kings and generals. The characters are so human and so real that the audience can see aspects of their own personalities represented on stage for better or worse. Shakespeare’s work is so pervasive that it is echoed many times. This is because many well-known quotes are attributed to Shakespeare and writers use these quotes to add depth to their work. In addition to quotes, many themes and plots are borrowed from Shakespeare as his work gives meaning to anything written after his work.
Besides Shakespeare using imagination to develop his storyline, he also utilised a lot of imagination in the way that he presented the play to the audience. An example of Shakespeare’s unique ways of presenting a play was the idea of having the characters in A Midsummer’s Night Dream put on a play within the play. Shakespeare’s idea of having a play within the play showcased and used a lot of imagination. For example, when the craftsmen, who were putting on the play had limited resources and had to have someone play the part of the wall. Which Pyramus and Thisbe whom were the main characters in the craftsmen's play would talk through, scenes like this in the craftsmen’s play showcased a lot of imagination. Even though the play that the craftsmen presented was poorly rehearsed and didn’t use many
Shakespeare is above all writers, at least above all modern writers, the poet of nature; the poet that holds up to his readers a faithful mirror of manners and life. His tragedy seems to be skill, his comedy to be instinct.
Gender roles are a set of societal norms that say what behaviors are appropriate depending on their sex. Characteristics that are associated with feminine would be thoughtfulness, beauty, vulnerability, and empathy. As for the masculine characteristics would likely be the opposite which means courage, independence, and assertiveness. Feminine and Masculine traits shown throughout the story but playing roles on the opposite gender norms. These societal norms are also broken when Shakespeare created the character of the three witches. The three witches were portrayed as androgynous, Macbeth nor Banquo could determine their sex by sight. In act 1 scene 3 Macbeth states, “By each at once her choppy finger laying Upon her skinny lips. You should be women, and yet your beards forbid me to interpret That you are so.” (46-49). This quote illustrates that the witches don’t fit with the ideal interpretation of a man nor a woman, instead they were a combination of both. The witches were supernatural creatures that didn’t fit gender roles because they were a form of ambiguity visually. Macbeth at first is portrayed as a brave and loyal person due to his actions at war which soon changes at the entrance of Lady Macbeth. The character of Lady Macbeth goes against all feminine characteristic because she becomes aggressive towards her husband, ambitious, and mean. Women

In William Shakespeare's work Hamlet, Shakespeare uses the ghost of the deceased king, a character with only a brief presence, to play a significant role in the plot of the story as a whole in multiple ways. The first way Shakespeare uses the ghost of King Hamlet is by first using him to play a crucial role in the development of the characters in the play This is especially true regarding Hamlet. William Shakespeare is known to be the “greatest English-speaking writer in history” and an England’s national poet, actor, and an extremely successful playwright. During Shakespeare’s acting career in London, he started writing all about “European geography, culture, and diverse personalities (History.com).” Willm Shakspere or William Shakspeare, as written by him, then went on to write plays. His first three plays were all created around or a little before 1592 and captured the core studied categories; tragedy (Titus Andronicus), comedy (The Two Gentlemen of Verona, The Comedy of Errors and The Taming of the Shrew), and history (Henry VI trilogy and Richard III). He wrote plays and sonnets for many theater companies, was one of the main playwrights for the Lord Chamberlain’s Men, which was renamed the King’s Men when James I was in charge, and formed the Globe theater in 1599 with other partners. Shakespeare’s unique language, themes, verses, format, characters, and plots makes his writing universal to every culture and time period.
