Anne gave birth to a daughter, Susanna, and then twins, son Hamnet, and daughter Judith. However, Hamnet, Shakespeare?s only son, soon died in 1596 at the age of eleven. Many assume the demise of Shakespeare?s son Hamnet influenced the writing of Hamlet. Shakespeare ventured to London for work while Anne and the children remained in Stratford, where she would remain the rest of her life.
