I Await Juliet knew that royalty life would be hard from the moment she was old enough to comprehend. She 's seen how her mother worked as Queen, making sure those of the 'lower class ' are pleased enough. How her father - the King - rules the kingdom, setting rules and suitable punishments. How her brother has to live up to the next heir of the throne. The forest was part of her safe haven, away from the castle and away from her high expectation family. Although it was part of the 'lower class ' area, Juliet found it the most beautiful place. The sounds of clashing stones behind her break her train of thought, and Juliet 's worried that her servant failed to distract her father. Weary, she stands up from where she sits against the …show more content…
" 'You 'll find a better woman ' he said. Benvolio, he doesn 't know anything about good taste in women. Especially if he thinks giving up Rosaline would be easy." The mention of Rosaline intrigues her even more. "And how does one know of my brother 's maid?" Juliet hears the door close quietly, and she gets up hurriedly to meet whoever 's there. "Suern, what news have you brought? Are my loved one and I to be wed?" Her servant gives her a small smile, and says "Two days from now, you and the village boy will be married," Juliet is overwhelmed with happiness and brightly laughs, "Oh, Suern, thank you!" She skips over to her servant and envelops her in a large hug. Suern laughs with her, and the two of them are happy. Two days, I just have to go through two more days. Juliet shows herself fully then, so the two of them were on equal grounds. The boy stops mid-way in his pebble kicking and turns her way. She sees the surprise on the boy 's face and, if she 's being honest, it pleases her greatly, since it 's a rare expression that 's ever directed at her. The boy seems to glance at her clothes before commenting, "Your apparel is of a royal." "And yours is of a villager", she replies in a beat. "Father, I cannot marry a man I do not love!" Juliet screams. I can 't betray him, the one a truly love. I refuse to. "Daughter, you agreed to give Paris a chance! He is smart, rich, and handsome, what more could you want?!" Her father shouts, and his voice seems to
As she was a mother-figure and confidante to Juliet, immense trust and guidance was expected of her. She however, destroyed this bond by referring to Juliet?s only love as a ?dishclout? and advising her that she ?thinks it best you married the county?, for he ?excels your first?. This then, results in Juliet alienating herself from her adviser-?thou and my bosom henceforth shall be twain?- and in due course killing herself.
Juliet’s tragic pursuit to continue her passion-filled young love challenges the rigid, prevailing values of Verona’s adult world. While the tragic ending does not offer the defiance of
Juliet’s state of mind at this point in the play definitely revolves around this idea of light vs. dark – her fears and hopes. After hearing about the loss of her cousin, Tybalt, she faces the obstacle in which she is forced to choose which path to take. Friar Lawrence gives Juliet the opportunity to run away with Romeo, but in order to do so; she must leave behind her remaining loved
Throughout the story, Juliet develops from a naive girl to one who is mature and understanding. The first noticeable action is
In the beginning of the play The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet when Juliet is first introduced, she is introduced as a young girl who is very faithful to her family, the Capulet family. In being faithful to her family, she is very compliant to the elders in her family. When the Capulet family's nurse calls Juliet, Juliet comes promptly. Then, she politely asks why she was called.
She’s often speak bad of Romeo in order to persuade Juliet to change her mind, chide Juliet for defending Romeo, yet she also arranges for Romeo to see Juliet in the night.
Juliet’s mindset when she is first introduced compared to when she first meets Romeo is like she is a completely different person in itself. Being first introduced, Juliet expressed her distaste for marriage and showed how independent and intelligent she was,
Romeo was saying that love can be dangerous but that he would do anything to call Juliet his. This shows how the two shouldn’t have been married because it can end poorly. Their love was new and strong and they got so caught up in their first real love that it became all they thought of. Both of the characters knew about the dangers of keeping something a secret, yet they did it anyway. This lead to conflict because nobody knew. The marriage was done in secret for a reason, and that secret would lead to lives of three people.
<br>This shows how Juliet has passion and faith in her relationship with Romeo, while her parents are old-fashioned; her father arranges a marriage for her, and her mother takes the side of her husband, rather than that of her daughter. This scene also shows how Juliet has changed and has gained the courage to speak against authority.
1) Why has Romeo been so depressed? Romeo has been so depressed because the “love of his life” Rosaline does not want to be with him anymore. She does not return the love he has given her, so he has fallen out of love. Rosaline does not feel the same way for Romeo anymore because she has fended off Cupid’s arrows to become a nun and is vowed to chastity. Even though he still has feelings for her, Romeo is not acting himself anymore; he is not just depressed, but he is also confused, hurt and upset.
After the ball Romeo climbs up to Juliet’s balcony and sees her talking to herself about him and calling his name. he shows himself to her, this is her second stage of her disobedience, she talks to Romeo again they kiss and exchange quick words, she always keeps an eye out for her parents because if she gets caught talking to Romeo they will neglect her, she knows what she is doing is wrong done to her parents but she thinks this is love so she goes ahead with it. The audience of this time of when the play was written and preformed, would be in great shock, because Juliet has gone against her parents, and not just kissing him but then meeting him on the balcony of her room. The audience would be shocked at a young girl with her status to be doing this.
Both of the characters mature in the play some of the many ways Juliet matures with be explained throughout this paragraph. The way Juliet matures throughout the play is at first she was obedient and she
Juliet is the daughter of Lord and Lady Capulet. When the play begins, we learn from the nurse that Juliet is soon turning fourteen (“Even or odd, of all the days in the year come Lammas-Eve at night shall she be fourteen”). In Juliet's first meeting with her mother and the nurse, she seems to be an obedient and responsible child. She comes immediately when they call her and answers always respectfully to her mother: "Madam, I am here, / What is your will?" (“Act 1, Scene 3). She is also clever as when her mother asks her what she thinks about marriage, she gives an ambiguous answer by saying what her mother wanted to hear really: “it is an honour I dream not of” (“Act 1, Scene 3). We learn that she is
In like manner, people of the time believed “children know not what is right and convenient for them, nor whether they be of the right age and condition to marry.” In addition, “they should not so much as give any liking, much less speech of marriage, without the consent of the parents,” making Juliet’s reactions both predictable and adequate. Equally as important to Juliet and any ideal woman, is her chastity. “Take from a maid or woman her beauty, take from her, family, riches, charm, eloquence, sharpness of wit, cunning in her craft, and give her Chastity, you have given her all things.” After the Nurse engages in a sexual joke in act 1, scene 3, it becomes clear that sex in an uncomfortable topic for Juliet.
“Why were you talking to her? She is just a helper,” Juliet scowled, looking at me with disgust, “Don’t you have to sort out the formal dresses for later?” Later? Oh yeah, they are probably going to announce their engagement or something ridiculous.
