Equally as important as having responsibility, having kindness is crucial to becoming an effective leader. Being amiable to everyone is a way of showing kindness, and when others see it, this action becomes prevalent. Back in 1944, an officer named Wilm Hosenfeld had helped a hidden survivor from a concentration camp in Germany by giving the survivor sustenance and safe refuge. As a result of his kindness, Hosenfeld’s actions disseminated into today’s era. Presently, people fight for leadership positions. When numerous people compete for a leadership position, the eventual leader must be kind. It shows that the more patient competitor is more of a leader than one who is yelling his/her head off and fist-fighting. I’ve experienced seeing
Willie Robertson is the Chief Executive Officer of Duck Commander, which is a family owned and operated hunting-accessories company. Willie’s father founded the company in 1972, but it’s been Willie’s entrepreneur skills and charismatic leadership that has developed the company into a multi-million dollar business specializing in the manufacturing of duck calls, duck decoys, cooking DVDs and apparel. He also introduced his family and company to the world through the popular A&E reality TV show “Duck Dynasty” which has had a huge boost in the company’s exposure worldwide. Willie’s influence in the transformation and growth of Duck Commander is also attributed to his leadership style, philosophy, and personal values.

The cares for lives, continuation of other's future, and the hope of a more successful generation are rarely the thoughts of anyone. Most individuals are self-centered, careless of others, and seek personal benefit. Although these unfortunate qualities make up the majority of the society that we live in, there are few individuals that make up what we call good leaders. Someone who has a thorough, objective, and complete view of a situation are a good leader. A good leader is also a person who considers and cares for other people's well being. Along with these qualities, a leader never allows any emotion or fears
I make good effort into being a likeable and approachable person, which I believe is a good trait in being a leader. This is demonstrated every day in the classroom, or around the college, where I will often try to greet my peers and teachers. This kindness is essential to being a good leader, and a good representative of Emmaus Colleges’ Christian values. The final value that I will be talking about is humility.
Leadership is not solely for key executives. It is an everyday way of acting or thinking that has little to do with a title or formal position in an organization (Daft, 2011). In this line of thinking, a people pleaser may be able to utilize some of their skills to lead a vision amongst a team and be effective.
Being a good leader requires that you have empathy and sympathy for those around you. Empathy is the feeling that you understand what someone else is feeling in a certain situation. Sympathy is a feeling of pity for someone. It’s not a feeling that you understand what they are going through, you just feel sorry for them. Empathy means that you can relate to how the other person is feeling and understand. People are human and it’s important to understand how others are feeling rather than just feeling pity for them. Empathy would be something that is needed in every profession because you connect better with others when you understand and communicate that with
Leaders are respectful and loving. Leaders always give people their trust. They give their trust because they want people to trust them. Leaders always care about people who are getting lead. They care about people because if they get hurt or something bad happens to
I believe a good leader is able to draw distinct clear lines when dealing with the people under her responsibility. I feel a good leader is approachable and yet still manages to maintain an authoritative stance. Often leaders tend to cross the line and become too friendly with the people they lead in a bid to gain popularity. However, from my work experience, when the leader tries to switch hats to being an authoritative figure it backfires. Which ultimately results in confusion amongst the group due to mixed signals and followers losing respect for the leader.
I think to be a good leader not only has good personality but also the power of influence. In order to influence others, except being a role model, also having sympathy is one of the main characteristics. This is the point of leadership-winning the hearts.
Imagine a world riddled with chaos and death. Criminals roam the streets and innocent souls are terrorized by fear. This is what a world without great leaders would be like. Without the organization, compassion, and courage that comes with being an excellent leader, our societies would be doomed to a lifetime of discontent and dismay. Luckily, one can see a vast amount of leadership examples in our own communities.
Grand Valley High School’s Athletic Director, Head Volleyball Coach, and Vice Principal: David Walck is who I would consider the most influential person in my leadership career. My freshman year he was the advisor for the Student Council, he had been running it for some time, and he ran quite the “tight ship.” He had high expectations for all that were involved, and there was a process we each had to follow, and it promoted organization, efficiency and made it easier for the upcoming class to take up the previous class’ responsibilities. Mr. Walck himself is very organized, and likes things one way as he, through experience, knows what works best. Because of that experience freshman year I value organization, efficiency and accountability the
In todays modern workforce, you have to do something that will set you apart from the competition in order to succeed, the workforce is very competitive no matter what your job is. Many people ask them selfs how they should treat their coworkers, with respect and to be firm, or to be nice and apologetic, or just a plain jerk. The vast majority of people will agree that they hate to work for or with a jerk, but what they don't realize is that they respect or listen to the “jerk” for the most part. Often people will appreciate or be thankful for a nice boss or coworker. A common negative of being the “nice” person in the workplace is that people will tend to eventually take advantage of you. Men and women tend to have to act differently in the
In my opinion, even though it was assumed that some people are naturally born leaders, it was also argued that certain leadership traits can be developed through experiences. With reference to the leadership trait questionnaire that I have done previously, one of my stronger character trait that was reflected was empathy. Cross referencing this to the Psychodynamic approach, under the Myers Briggs personality test, I found myself to be an INFP – Introversion, intuition, feeling, perception. The main core trait associated with those who are classified as an INFP was coincidentally empathy as well where those under that category aim to seek harmony and authenticity in our relationship with others. (Northouse, 2013) That is something I have to agree with as I constantly find myself trying to put myself in other’s shoes so as to better relate and understand their perspective.
It’s not very hard to make someone excited and energy-filled for the rest of the day if you’re using your words in the “right way.” For instance, complimenting someone about their smile or their outstanding fashion sense can really encourage others in a positive way and make a chain reaction. This conveys that not only showing kindness can impact one person, but many others. Being a leader is a perfect fit for getting the ball rolling for a positive school, community, etc. Never back down to being friendly to others because it can make a positive imprint on you and your
Billy: The most important thing of being a leader knowing when to be brutal and when to be kind. That moment is the most important part of being a leader. If you are too brutal, then you are a tyrant and all tyrants fall hard eventually. If you are constantly kind then everyone will think you are weak and you fall into the hands of your closest ally. If you know when to be brutal and when to be kind then your people will treat you with
