A miraculous and striking event has occurred that will change all lives. All those affected by this devastating event will shortly be named. It is all a matter of time whether those who have experienced, been through, or took part in this action, live or die. It is highly advised that all who are still trying to absorb and understand this information, stay nice and calm, due to further complications not wanting to take place even after a horrendous event such as this. Shortly after three young teenagers get done devouring an appetizing meal at a nearby Dairy Queen in the town of Windrixville, they set off for the road. In doing so, reports say the teenagers encountered a sight one would tremendously fear. What they are witnessing, will possibly change their lives forever. Through their dark, cold, mean gray eyes, they see a roaring fire nearly disintegrating a nearby church. Flooring the gas pedal of the tuff greaser car, as if it was attacking at the young man’s leg, the car reaches a horrific speed. Nothing is getting in the way of this young man's trying to find out what has caused this horrible event. Shocked, …show more content…
Many heard distant whimpers, roars, and cries as the fire grew bigger. Crying, screams, whimpering, and many mixed emotions were the only result in one's mind and body as a result of being part of such an apprehensive sight. Reports said a man ran up to the boys, with his arms flailing, escaping for his life, while he included that his children were inside of the now burning church fire. Many reports have also included the man's much repeated words, “Will my children make it out alive? What have I done in order for God to throw such an event my way, especially at my kids? ” Reports include as well that the young boy named Ponyboy thought he was the reason behind this devastating event due to their love of cigarettes and smoking them
Suddenly looking around himself, the child begins to notice the outbuildings as if they were familiar to him and realizes that he is not at a plantation he has never seen before, but is instead watching his own home that he had left earlier that afternoon burn to the ground. Upon this realization the boy begins to run around the conflagration, and comes upon the prostrate body of
The fire spread from the O’Learys’ barn to the yards nearby. Soon it was spreading throughout the neighborhood. William Lee, a neighbor a block away, saw the fire and ran to Bruno Goll’s drugstore to turn in the fire alarm. Bruno Goll refused to turn in the alarm because he said the fire truck had already gone past. So instead of arguing, Lee went home to his family. At the courthouse the lookout on duty saw smoke, but thought nothing of it, thinking it was just Saturday's fire and there was no reason to be alarmed. Then he looked up and noticed it was a different fire and had his assistant strike the Box 342 for the fire department. Soon fire trucks were at the scene and attempted to put out the fire. The fire department’s Chief Marshal, Robert A. Williams got the engines to circle the fire to contain it. They got as close to the fire as they could until their arm hair was being burned and their
As I walked, the air of this haunted, dreadful and sorrowful land had sucked the life out of everything and roared as humanity began to disappear. As I carried on walking, I noticed that the small fraction of light was getting smaller and smaller, until it had been engulfed into a think black ash like smoke. Aggressively, the wind walked past the building with its cruddy feeling, blowing away all signs of life. Deeper and deeper into the land was a burning car door. The fire roared and crackled. The roaring and crackling of the burning car door merged with the aggressive air and created the loudest sounds ever heard on land. Growing darker, the skies made me feel nauseous. The fear of not waking up if a human fell asleep towered
“It’s nothing, Mother! There’s nothing there… Please sit down…” He pained me even more than did his mother’s cries.
Ponyboy risked his life and ran into the burning church to save the school children because he thought it was his fault that they burnt it. One quote that the book gives that shows that he thought it was his fault was, “I bet we started it, we must have dropped a lighted cigarette or something.” This explains why Ponyboy risked his life and ran into the burning church to save the school children because when people do something wrong, and someone else pays the price, they usually feel bad and try to fix the situation. In this situation, Ponyboy dropped a lighted cigarette, and the kids ended up in the burned church fire, and Ponyboy had to come in and save them. Another quote that supports my claim is, “All I could think was: We started it.
Ponyboy and Johnny freed each and every child by dropping them through an open window in the burning church that led to the outside. When each innocent life was saved, the roof started to collapse onto itself trapping the two young and brave heroes inside
Local firemen showed up to the scene to late. Their duties were already being carried out by three hoodlums. Dallas Winston, Johnny Cade, and Ponyboy Curtis saved the lives of five children inside the burning church. The fire’s cause is unknown. All children were left unharmed but, the hero’s had all suffered numerous injuries. Ponyboy Curtis was released after a few hours and Dallas Winston had a very badly burned arm. Johnny Cade is in very bad condition. If he does survive he will be paralyzed.
One mistake can lead to a lifetime of pain and suffering and in some cases death. Moody now knows the dangers of fire and will always remember this experience and how one little mistake can turn into a huge problem in a matter of seconds. “If there was one thing I learned from this experience”, Moody says, “it’s that you can never be too careful when dealing with fire, fifteen seconds can change your life drastically”.
I could see them talking and a woman ran up to the and it looked like she was going to lose her marbles. She started to talk to the man that Pony was with. She told him something and I could hear him say “I’ll get them don’t worry.” Pony looked at him and ran to the church. I got out of the car and ran after Pony. I caught up to him and he said to surprise “Hey Johnny.” He told me that the door was in flames and we had to find something to break the window with. He found a rock and smashed the window. Pony climbed in the window and I climbed in after him. When I got inside the church had fire everywhere. We heard the kids’ screams and we went to the screams. We found the kids in a corner
As a matter a fact it took a lot of guts for Johnny and Pony to go into the burning church to help the students out considering the fact that no one else in the church went to help the children escape
Same with The Outsiders. Everything Ponyboy does is for a reason; his motive. Running into a flaming church is unique situation, but Ponyboy did for various reasons. There are several explanations for Ponyboy to run into what could have easily been his death. There is one clear reason why he ran into the fire. Ponyboy believed he started the fire, as he says when the event took place. "We were having a school picnic up here and the first thing we knew, the place is burning up. Thank goodness this is a wet season and the old thing is worthless anyway." Then, to the kids, he shouted, "Stand back, children. The firemen will be coming soon." "I bet we started it," I said to Johnny. "We must have dropped a lighted cigarette or something." When Ponyboy figured out he may have caused a fire he was not concerned. However, when he learned that children were missing, he immediately ran into a blaze of around 1100 degrees Fahrenheit (according to the National Institute of Fire Safety and Training), forgetting the fact that he had always smoked outside the church. After Robert Sheldon (known as Bob) was killed by Johnny, Ponyboy couldn’t bear to see another life lost because of him. Immediately he charged into the fire, fearing only one thing. Others losing their life because of something he may have created.
Lincoln Nebraska seemed like the perfect place to live. It was a quiet town where everybody seemed to know each other, and nobody needed to lock their doors at night. It wasn’t until December 1, under the cover of darkness, that everything seemed to change. On that night Charles Starkweather returned to a Lincoln gas station, robbed the attendant for $100.00, and then led him out a few miles where he proceeded to shoot him dead. (Spencer). This robbery and murder was just the start of the gruesome spree that had yet to occur.
Ponyboy Jonny and Dally saw that and fastly run into the church to save the four children. “I didn’t pay any attention, although pieces of the old roof were crashing down too close for comfort. I snatched up another kid hoping he didn’t bite and dropped him with out waiting to
With the cheerful mood back to normal, the students continue their sing along when an old grayish pick-up pulls alongside the Buick, catching the kid’s interest. A 1945 ford 12 ton 8 cylinders with automatic transmission, an old classic for sure, and it had the black emission smoke to prove it. An elderly man with snow-white hair, wearing a vintage Dodger cap, which dated back to the days of Sandy Koufax, was at the wheel. With a strong resemblance to the horror film actor Vincent Price, the old man looked as out-of-date as the classic he was driving. However, there was nothing scary about him. The woman, on the other hand, is presenting a more stereotyped description of what a real grandma should look like; at least that is what the kids
Millie: It’s five-o’clock on March 25th, 1911. The fire at the Asch Building is quite the whopper! From what I hear, it is baking like ma’s potatas! It’s been guessed that about ‘hundred-fifty deaths were caused by the raging inferno that started about 4:40 this afternoon. Caused by a lit cigarette that fell into a scrap bin, this fire just might be one of the most devastating industrial disasters of all time. Quite a day! It always seemed like a bonfire waiting to happen, what with all that fabric and paper. My pal Mikenna is at the scene, and she’s gonna tell us about the looks of the spot.
