As nurses we know medical professionals more than ever are responsible for treating large diverse populations. Understanding cultural differences in various populations is crucial to produce positive outcomes. Nurses have a major role in health care promotion. Nurses should be treating the patient as a whole in mind, body, and spirit. This should be included in community treatment too. No wide open spaces to view. In Lake Worth if building is condemned it is taken down quickly and new buildings are constructed. According to the City-Data (2011), the Lake Worth population is 34,984 with a slightly higher number of males. Age average is 35 and the average household size is 2.6 people. Of those 34,984 people it is reported “12,547 residents are foreign born 28.8% Latin America, 4.2% Europe” City-Data (2011). According to the City-Data (2011), the Hispanic population is 39.6 % of Lake Worth’s population and the Caucasian race following at 38.1 %. Primary languages spoken are English and Spanish. Median income is 35,035 and home prices vary with the average at 165,000.
Lake Worth provides a variety of housing opportunities. There are within the city limits homes, many duplexes, triplexes, businesses mixed together. The structures for single family homes are wood frame and block. Inside the city the homes were built in the early 1900s. The home size is varied, the yards are small, and there are not many driveways. People park on the streets. Outside the city limits the homes were constructed in the 1980s, and the structure is block. Most homes are well maintained with shrubs and flowers, but the yards are small.
